Audi Prices New 349HP SQ5 from $51,900* in the U.S.

The first ever "S" variant of any Audi crossover, the new SQ5, will reach U.S. showrooms later this summer with a starting price of $51,900 (equal to €38,900 at today's exchange rates), which doesn’t include a destination and delivery fee of $895. Though not a direct competitor, you could say that the 300hp BMW X3 xDrive35i ($44,700) with the optional ($3,000) M Sport package is a fairly close rival. Read more »

Audi to Rely on SUVs to Become World's Top Luxury Automaker

The three premium German automakers used to be famous around the world for their fast, well-built and luxurious saloon cars, but in recent years, that perception has been considerably altered by the addition of SUVs. Audi is very keen to expand its line of Q-badged vehicles, which is currently three models-strong (Q3, Q5 and Q7). Read more »

Audi wants to Double SUV and Crossover Lineup with Q2, Q4 and Q6 Models

Many gearheads and journalists alike have whined and moaned about premium automakers diluting their brands' cachet by developing SUVs and crossovers, but the truth is, that's where the growth is these days. Just look at Porsche and the Cayenne.

Compared to its home-market rivals BMW and Mercedes, Audi was late to the party having launched its first entry in the SUV segment only eight years ago with the full-size Q7, which was followed by the compact Q5 in 2008 and Q3 in 2010.

New Audi SQ5 with 349hp 3.0-liter TSI to Debut at Detroit Auto Show

Last summer, Audi introduced its first ever S model powered by a diesel-engine, the SQ5 SUV sporting 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 TDI with a power output of 308hp (313PS) and peak torque of 650 Nm (479 lb-ft).

At the time, the Ingolstadt-based brand said that the TDI will only be offered in Europe. Audi hasn't changed its mind about the availability of the SQ5 TDI, but at the upcoming Detroit auto show, it will reveal a second iteration of the SQ5, this time powered by a supercharged gasoline engine.

Audi says this model was created specifically for the following markets: United States, Canada, China, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, South Africa, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and the Ukraine, and will not be offered in Europe.

At the heart of the new SQ5 lies Audi's 3.0-liter supercharged V6 with a compressor featuring two rotors that spin at over 20,000 rpm. The TSI unit generates 349hp (354PS) between 6,000 and 6,500 rpm, and delivers 470Nm (347 lb-ft) of torque to the crankshaft between 4,000 and 4,500 rpm.

Audi Introduces New 240HP 3.0-liter V6 Diesel for A6, A7, A8 and Q5 SUV in the U.S.

While extremely popular in Europe, for a long time, diesel-powered passenger cars were a non-entity in the U.S. automotive business. Furthermore, it was more likely to see pink flamingos parading in Times Square than a premium brand automobile with a diesel engine under its hood.

Today, things are quite different. Diesel engines are nothing like they used to be, nor are gasoline prices, so manufacturers are not afraid to add diesel variants to their U.S. line-up.

New Audi SQ5 TDI with 308HP is the First Ever S Model with a Diesel Engine

Audi has decided to accept BMW's challenge to present sporty models with diesel engines under the M Performance moniker by introducing its first ever "S" model powered by an oil-burner, the new SQ5 TDI.

The new top model of its recently revised Q5 model series sports a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 diesel delivering a frisky 308hp (313PS) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque between 1,450 and 2,800 rpm.

2013 Audi Q5 gets Barely Visible Styling Tweaks and an Updated Engine Range that Includes 3.0 TFSI

After four years in the market, the Audi Q5 has received its first refresh, but you will be forgiven for not noticing the styling changes.

To sum up the exterior and interior updates that we mentioned when the official pictures of the Q5 leaked onto the web, the compact crossover gets Audi's new six-point grille, fresh headlamp and taillight graphics, revised front and rear aprons, plus updated trim, refined ergonomics, new steering wheels and subtly modified column control stalks and instrument panel.

Of more importance are the changes found under the hood, as there are five new or upgrades engines plus the hybrid model. For the new model year, Audi is replacing the naturally aspirated 3.2-liter V6 with a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 petrol engine.

The 3.0 TFSI outputs 268hp (272PS) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque allowing for a zero to 100km/h (62mph) sprint time of 5.9 seconds, a top speed of 234km/h (145mph) and a combined fuel consumption of 8.5lt/100km (27.7 US mpg or 33.2mpg UK) on the European cycle.

China's Zotye T600 Concept Looks Like the Love Child of an Audi Q5 and an Acura RDX

China may be on its way to becoming the world's most important market for the automotive industry but that doesn't seem to have any effect on local carmakers that continue to "borrow" ideas from their Western counterparts.

While not a direct clone like JAC's infamous 4R3 pickup truck that unashamedly duplicated the styling of the Ford F-150, it is not hard to see where Zoyte's T600 study got its looks.
