Jaguar to Show Unique Version of the F-Type at Goodwood

Britain's Jaguar will use the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed to premiere an “unique version of Jaguar F-Type convertible sports car”. While some may be tempted to think Jaguar will finally display the F-Type Coupe at the Goodwood hill-climb event, the language used by the UK carmaker is rather ambiguous.

Jaguar say the car is “an exciting new design study based on the Jaguar F-Type convertible sports car”, which should eliminate the production version of the F-Type Coupe.

Super-Lightweight Toyota 86 TRD Griffon Concept Flies to Goodwood Festival

Toyota's arsenal of cars at this year's edition of the Goodwood Festival of Speed that takes place in Britain from July 11 to 14 will include the GT 86 TRD Griffon Project. If the name rings a bell it's because the Japanese carmaker had originally presented the concept at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January this year.

Toyota Racing Developments (TRD) developed the 86 Griffon as a track racer keeping the road-going model's 200-horsepower boxer engine intact, but upgrading the rest of the components and more importantly, shaving 500 pounds (226.7 kg) to bring the curb weight down to just 2,310 pounds (1,048 kg).

All-New 2014 Skoda Octavia RS to Climb the Hill at Goodwood, in July

The all-new Skoda Octavia is a car which wants you to take it very seriously. However, Skoda knows that for it to be truly accepted, there must be a hot version sitting at the top of the range. This is why they will debut the RS version (vRS in the UK) of the new Octavia at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, held from July 11 to 14, 2013.

Since Skoda itself admits that the Octavia is "the heart" of their brand, and factoring in the VW influence on the technical side, we expect the new RS to be a highly-competent machine.

Lexus to Make First Official Appearance at Goodwood Festival of Speed

Lexus is trying to steer away from its established image of just making comfortable, reliable luxury cars, and inject a bit of zest into the brand, because sporty sells nowadays.

Just take one good look at the revised LS, especially in F-Sport trim – it is considerably more aggressive than anything they've previously done, especially on a big heavy barge like their flagship. This is also evident in the new GS and IS, which again, with the mean F-Sport bits specified, look more aggressive.

Photos and Videos of the Alfa Romeos at the Goodwood Festival of Speed

Alfa Romeo, the famous Italian brand that should have been among the Fiat group's first priorities but which has been heavily neglected and steered towards the wrong direction over the years, had a strong presence at last weekend's 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Among other impressive production models on show was a yellow-colored example of the built-to-order by Zagato, Alfa Romeo TZ3 Stradale that is based on the running gear of the V10-powered Dodge Viper ACR.

Infiniti Emerg-e Runs, Breaks Down During Demonstration Laps at Goodwood Hill Climb

One of the more impressive and unique cars to storm up the Goodwood hill climb this past weekend was Infiniti’s first running prototype of the range-extender Emerg-e sports concept, which was first shown at the 2012 Geneva motor show as a static prototype.

The UK-designed and built concept had a slightly awkward moment on Friday during the demonstrator laps, as according to a video filmed by YouTube user 'MrDHandZ', it either broke down or ran out of electric juice at some point during the race and was carried away on a truck.

While surely an unwelcome development, one should not forget that the Emerg-e is an advanced study making its first public outing as a fully-functioning model in a race. On the Sunday hill climb, the Emerg-e completed the run in the hands of Red Bull Racing's Australian Formula One pilot, Mark Webber.

Nissan Leaf Sets Record Lap Time of Goodwood Hill Climb Going Backwards

After officials barred Nissan from trying to set a speed record for a vehicle going up the Goodwood hill backwards last year over safety fears due to the lack of substantial testing, Nissan was finally given the opportunity at this year's event.

The only change made to the Leaf was the disabling of the regular model's electronic speed limiter in reverse, which in theory enabled the pure-electric model to be driven backwards as fast as it could go forwards.
