Kia Reveals Specs and Pricing for UK-Bound Carens Minivan

The idea of buying an MPV/minivan may not get your pulse racing in terms of driving excitement or looks, but the cars that feature the most modern interpretation of the formula are certainly much better than you'd expect. Take for example Kia’s Carens people mover, which goes on sale in the UK on May 1st, with a starting price of £17,895, a choice of three engines and the classic Kia seven year warranty. Read more »

"One of the most competitive market segments in Europe" - that’s how Kia describes the compact MPV class, which it re-enters with the all-new Carens.

All-New Kia Carens Compact MPV Bows to the World, will Offer Seating for up to Seven

Just ahead of its world premiere at the 2012 Paris Motor Show on September 27, Kia has nicked the covers off its all-new Carens MPV.

The new iteration of the Carens, which in its previous form was marketed worldwide under various nameplates, including the Rondo in the United States and Canada up until its demise in 2010, sports a fresh and far more modern design than the model it replaces.

The South Korean carmaker is keeping most details secret until the public unveiling of the car in Paris, but from what we understand, the Carens not only looks like a minivan variant of the Cee'd hatchback but is also based on a modified version of its platform and is likely to share the same engine lineup – at least in Europe.

New Kia Carens Compact Minivan Sketched Once Again

For the second time this summer, Kia is teasing the upcoming Carens compact MPV with a set of sketches that were released in advance of the car's world premiere at the Paris Motor Show in September.

These three drawings outline the shape of the actual minivan and include realistic depictions of the lights and the front grille, all of which remind us of the Cee'd compact, which forms the base for the new Carens and will also lend its engine lineup of 1.4-liter and 1.6-liter petrol and diesel engines.

All-New Kia Carens / Rondo Minivan to Bow at the Paris Motor Show

With the promise to combine "sporty looks with spacious functionality and an emotional appeal", Kia will perform the world premiere of the all-new Carens MPV, a successor to the minivan sold as the Rondo in North America up until 2010, at the Paris Motor Show on September 27.

The new generation of the Carens makes use of a modified version of the Cee'd's platform shared with the Hyundai i30 (called the Elantra GT in North America) and at least in Europe, it will likely be offered with 1.4-liter and 1.6-liter petrol and diesel engines.

Kia to Drop Sedona Minivan for the 2013MY, but Plans to Return to the Segment

A Kia spokesperson has confirmed plans to drop the Sedona minivan for the 2013 model year from its U.S. lineup.

Kia Preparing a Common Replacement for Carnival and Carens MPVs, New Procee'd will Debut in Paris

Despite the ongoing economic woes of Europe, Kia is not backing down on its goal to boost sales in the Old Continent by an impressive 20.7 percent to 350,000 vehicles this year, following an already high 10.7 percent increase last year.

And that's not all as Paul Philpott, Kia Europe's Chief Operating Officer, told Autonews Europe that the company aims to reach annual sales of 400,000 vehicles by 2013.

Kia plans to do this with the launch of several key models, including the all-new Cee'd five-door hatchback this month and the Cee'd Estate in September.
