Driver Sends New BMW Straight Into the Water to Avoid a Squirrel

Squirrels are thought of as being one of the cutest and most innocent of the woodland critters, so when one runs in front of your brand new BMW, of course you are going to try to avoid it, even if you run the risk of driving right into a lake and completely totaling your ride. This is what happened close to (and eventually in) San Diego’s Mission bay according to U-T San Diego. Read more »

We Visually Compare the New BMW 4-Series with the Outgoing 3-Series Coupe

The production version of the BMW 4-Series Coupe may look toned down compared to the concept, but let's not forget that almost all studies lose some of their shine when translated into series production models.

While this is true, it doesn’t mean the production 4-Series is an ugly car. One can’t make such a statement before seeing it in real life. So, how does the 4-Series Coupe compare to its predecessor, the 3-Series Coupe? We listened to one of our reader’s request (nicknamed "anonymo") and we put both the two cars side by side in a virtual photo comparison to see which one looks better.

Schmidt Revolution Turns the Wick on BMW 335i F30 Sedan

While the huge "Performance2" decals and blue and red stripes aren't for everyone, Schmidt Revolution thinks the rest of the goods it offers for the latest generation BMW 335i F30 sedan are.

The German tuner starts by telling us about the new 20-inch three-piece rims with outer rings made from a special "stainless steel alloy" fitted on Continental 5P tires size 235/35-20 on the front axle and 265/30-20 on the rear. The wheel package is priced at €6,499, which comes to about US$8,700 / £5,550.

Drag Race of Generations and Fuels: E30 BMW M3 vs. F30 BMW 320d

The E30 M3 is probably BMW’s most iconic and most discussed model of modern times. Its perfect handling and balance makes it a favorite amongst BMW enthusiasts worldwide, as does its timeless styling. But how does its performance stand the test of time? More specifically, is it still fast enough to outpace a modern day regular BMW 3 Series diesel?

UK magazine Auto Express thought the only way to find out was to pit an E30 M3 Roberto Ravaglia edition against an F30 BMW 320d in a drag race. It’s important to mention that the E30 M3 Roberto Ravaglia edition has 212 bhp and 250 Nm of torque, while the 320d has 184 bhp and 380 Nm of torque.

That's One Helluva Strange Bimmer: 1982 BMW M35 Speedster

While poking around on eBay today we found this ambiguous 1982 BMW 320i that doesn't know if it wants to be a junior 633CSi Cabriolet from the Back the Future 2 flick, a poor man's track racer or a homemade M3 wannabe. Perhaps it's all three in one…

The owner of the car removed the roof and cut around two-thirds of the windshield and A-pillars, adding M3 E30-like fender extensions, a hood scoop, front and rear spoilers and a roll cage, while also partially stripping out the interior – for some unexplainable reason, the unusable rear seat bench and door panels were left intact.

New Lexus IS 250 Falls Short in Edmunds's Comparo with BMW 328i and Cadillac ATS 2.0

The newest entry in the extremely competitive premium compact saloon category is the third generation of Lexus' IS sedan that brings with it a sharper design with more character inside and out, along with the promise of improved dynamics.

It doesn’t have an easy job as all contestants for the title in the segment have many strong points, with the BMW 3-Series, now in its sixth iteration, having the added bonus of being the most recognized and successful player for almost three decades now.

Find Out How a BMW Worker Created the First Ever 3-Series Touring in His Spare Time!

The tale of the BMW 3-Series Touring is an unusual one in an industry that is usually three steps ahead of consumers and can anticipate their needs years in advance. Instead of BMW coming up with the idea, it was actually a 3-Series sedan owner (and BMW employee) who was the first to create the car.

The man behind the story is Max Reisböck, who wanted to drive the compact sedan and use it to carry his family around, but was displeased with the insufficient luggage area, so he decided to make his own estate, in his back yard, using a wrecked car as a base!

Can You See the BMWs in New Hollywood Film Trailer? Sure You Can….

BMW has been caught up in the…illusion of marketing and product placement in yet another Hollywood flick, this time in the upcoming action-thriller film "Now You See Me", directed by Louis Leterrier and starring Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Woody Harrelson.

Travelling Back in Time: My Visit at the BMW Museum in Munich

For a car enthusiast, a trip to Munich is unconceivable without a stop at the BMW Museum. Its permanent exhibition hosts more than 120 automobiles, motorcycles and engines spanning nine decades of BMW brand history.

For €9, which is equal to US$11.75, I had the chance to travel back in time and see how the BMW legend was born and developed into what is now the world’s largest premium car manufacturer. This is not going to be an exhaustive presentation of my trip, however, as visiting an automobile museum is mostly a subjective experience, so I will only talk about the cars that impressed me the most.

BMW 3-Series F30 Art Car by Andy Reiben is an LSD Trip on Wheels!

As far as the matter of turning a car into art goes, those who argue against it say art cannot serve any other purposes aside from being what it is. So what should we make of cars such as this hand-painted F-30 BMW 3-Series? Well, all we know is that its graphic designs are extremely detailed and some parts even glow in the dark – that's got to count for something… Read more »

AE Test Drives New BMW 3-Series Gran Turismo

Despite not making a success story of the 5-Series GT, which hasn't really sold in particularly large numbers, BMW is trying again, this time with a smaller version of the same concept. This review by Autoexpress is the first we've seen of the most practical member of the 3-Series family, the GT, and if we were to judge it by it alone, it actually makes a bit of sense. Read more »

Rare Alpina BMW 320i Turbo E21 Prototype Could Be Yours for $24,990

This is a real treat. It's one of only three Alpina-branded E21 3-Series BMWs, which were given a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine, instead of the familiar 2.3-liter straight-six.

They were made in the late 70s, when BMW was still deciding what engine to give its new 320. Sure, in the end, they took the classic approach and used the six-pot unit, but that only serves to make these prototypes even more interesting and sought-after.

Prior Design Drops New Images of BMW F30 3-Series Aero Tune

Word of advice to tuners like Prior Design who want to show off their creations: when you release new photos of a car fitted with your goods, try choosing a different color, and not just a different time of day (…), so customers can see the vehicle from a fresh perspective.

With that said, Prior Design published a new set of images of the same white BMW F30 3-Series sedan fitted with its aero components as it did in December, only this time, the photo shot was made during the day.
