BMW Insider Say M4's Multi-Turbo Six to Redline Close to 8,000 RPM, New Spy Shots of Coupe

Our spies have gone in overboost mode in regards to the new BMW M4 Coupe securing another round of shots of the prototype finished in a Silverstone Metallic color (think ice-blue), while it was being thrashed in its…natural habitat, the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

But that's not the only news we have on the M4 as this morning, we were notified by the team over at the F80Bimmerpost forums about some fresh information on the car's powertrain specs.

Spy Shots: New BMW M4 Coupe Wears Golden Calipers on the 'Ring

In contrast to the photoshoped renders of the 2015 BMW M3 sedan we shared with you on Wednesday morning, these shots of the new M4 Coupe show the real car, albeit hidden under yards of camouflage.

BMW's high-performance model that will soon replace the M3 Coupe is scheduled for a summer 2014 launch, following the introductions of the plain 4-Series Coupe and Convertible as well as the M3 Sedan later this year.

Spy Shots: BMW Says Bye, Bye M3 Coupe, Hello New M4 and Straight-Six Turbo

The regular versions of BMW's 3-Series are fine and dandy and will get the job done for most people, but ever since the Bavarian carmaker plastered the M logo on the E30 back in the mid-1980s, if you really wanted to experience the best that BMW has to offer in this segment, the M3 was the way to go.

2014 BMW M4 Coupe Specs Allegedly Revealed Through VIN Check

In some cases, depending on the country and local rules, they have to provide specific details. If we are to believe a report from the BMW loving crew over at the F30Posts, one of their members discovered a registration document for an M4 Coupe test car through a VIN check (there no mention on how and where).

BMW M4 Coupe and M3 Sedan Concepts Realistically Imagined

The word on the street is that BMW is making plans to unwrap a thinly disguised concept version of the M3 sedan at the Frankfurt motor show in September, with the final production model to appear in dealerships around the world in 2014.

Like many other publications, Britain's Car Magazine has come up with an illustration to give us an idea of what to expect about the M3 sedan's looks in its latest issue.

And it's not alone, as the creative minds over at Bimmerpost used their Photoshop skills to turn the BMW 4-Series Coupe Concept from the Detroit Motor Show into an impressive M4 Coupe study.

2014 BMW M4 Coupe Rendered: What do You Think?

BMW’s decision to rename the 3-Series Coupe the 4-Series has certainly resulted in a lot of debate. Munich’s reasoning is that the Coupe is different enough to its saloon sibling, upon which it is based, to deserve a new designation.

Moreover, it adheres to the carmaker’s decision to name coupes, convertibles and sportier-looking sedans (think 6 Series Gran Coupe) with even numbers, something that will also be applied to the forthcoming 1-Series Coupe that will be renamed the 2-Series.

Does the name change really matter? You betcha; that’s because it will also affect the M-Division-fettled range topper of the coupe and possibly convertible range, which will no longer be named the M3 (though, the name will continue with the sedan) but the M4.
