New 2014 Toyota Corolla Envisioned as a Coupe – Should it be Built?

With the brand new generation of the Corolla that was presented earlier this month, Toyota followed a bolder strategy in terms of the car's design and features to counter threats from other Asian as well as European and even American brands.

As it stands, there's only a sedan version of the Corolla, while Toyota has no current plans for replacing the Matrix hatchback, which pegs the question whether the company should offer more body styles in North America, like many of its competitors – i.e. Honda sells the Civic in Sedan and Coupe iterations, while Ford offers the Focus in Sedan and Hatchback flavors.

New Euro Market 2014 Toyota Corolla Sedan Presentation Photos from Turkey and Videos

What do impersonators of Michael Jackson and Marilyn Monroe sharing the stage with a scantily dressed lady who may or may not be doubling as a star (does she remind you of anyone?), have to do with the world premiere of the new European market 2014 Toyota Corolla in Istanbul, Turkey?

To be frank, we've no idea how they all fit in or why these people were chosen to be part of the presentation - unless Toyota wanted to make some sort of point about the longevity of the Corolla name, still it's no star…

Europe, This Is Your All-New Toyota Corolla Sedan with a Different Face [30 Photos]

Following last night's reveal of the all-new US-spec Toyota Corolla, the Japanese automaker has released the first official photos of the European version of its C-segment sedan, ahead of the official presentation in Istanbul, Turkey later today.

The Turkey launch was not selected by chance, as the European market version of the new Corolla will be built there alongside the Verso at Toyota’s local plant in Sakarya.

All-New 2014 Toyota Corolla Gains Fresh Looks, More Space and 7-Speed CVT [50 Pics & Videos]

The 11th generation of Toyota's best-selling nameplate in the world and second in the U.S. after the Camry ranking 8th overall last year (albeit including sales of the Matrix), which is none other than the 2014 Corolla compact sedan, made its world premiere tonight in Santa Monica, California.

Toyota had prepared us for the Corolla's looks with the Furia concept at the Detroit motor show this year, but if you were expecting the same sported up and hunkered down stance, you'll be disappointed. That's not to say the new Corolla isn't more interesting to look at on the outside than the outgoing model, but that doesn't say much, does it now…

2014-Toyota-Corolla-35There are many styling influences from the much larger Avalon, both on the outside, especially up front with five point lower grille and the standard LED headlamps, and even more inside with the dashboard that looks far more premium and interesting than that of the previous generation Corolla.

The renewed interior design is matched to a more spacious passenger cabin, courtesy of a 3.93-inch (99.8 mm) longer wheelbase at 106.3-inches (2,700mm), which Toyota says helps offer a rear seat area that is 2.95-inches (75mm) longer than the previous model.

2014 Toyota Corolla Sedan Reveal Set for After 10:00 PM EST [Updated - First Photos]

Without doubt, the biggest moment in the career of mainstream cars like the Toyota Corolla, is the time of their presentation, which is only natural since few, if any editions of these models, can really touch any chords with true enthusiasts. What these cars do is sell to the masses; that's what they are primarily designed to do and some, like the Corolla, do it better than others.

The time for the new generation of the Corolla to shine is almost here, as at 7:00 PM PST, which is 10:00 PM EST, Toyota will begin the presentation of the compact sedan model in Santa Monica, California.

New Photo of the 2014 Toyota Corolla or Another False Alarm?

With many websites and forums trying to capitalize on the popularity of upcoming models like the 2014 Toyota Corolla, one can never be sure about genuineness of pictures floating around the net these days.

We've already seen renderings of Toyota's compact sedan model trying to be passed on as real photos, so understandably, we're not going to jump into any conclusions yet about this new image that was sent to us by Miro Mihalik from the Czech website Autoweb. Miro said that it is the first picture of the European specification Corolla.

New Photos of 2014 Toyota Corolla Sedan Leaked on the Web? [Updated]

Update: As pointed out by our readers, these two pictures of the 2014 Corolla aren't the real deal; they're renderings from Humster3d (see the second video after the jump)

While Toyota isn't hiding the fact that a new generation of the Corolla sedan is coming out this year having previewed the car through the Furia Concept at the Detroit Motor Show in January and even teased the production version via this picture last week, the company says it won't actually reveal the compact model until June 6.

As always, the interwebs have a different opinion, and besides these photos that were leaked online in February, we now have a new pair of images, purportedly of the production 2014 Corolla sedan, courtesy of Encontracarros.

Toyota Teases All-New Corolla and Tells Us to Get "Really Excited"

After previewing the new generation of the Corolla with the "Furia Corolla" concept car at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show in January, Toyota is set for the world premiere of the actual production car, which will take place at a special event in a couple of weeks in California on June 6.

But before that happens, the Japanese automaker will try to bore us to death drum up some attention around the new 2014 Corolla sedan with teasers like the cropped picture seen above, and which was accompanied by the following text: "Prepare to meet the NEW 2014 Corolla. Get excited for June 6, really excited…"

Toyota Questions Polk’s Statistics, Says Corolla Beat Focus as World’s Best-Selling Car

Toyota says its Corolla compact car was the world’s best-selling vehicle in 2012, not the Ford Focus, as the U.S. carmaker said yesterday citing R.L. Polk & Co.’s global new vehicle registration data for the full-year 2012.

Ford said it sold 1.02 million Focus vehicles last year topping the Toyota Corolla, which was attributed sales of 872,774 units. The Japanese carmaker’s was quick to contradict its rival.

First Appearance of All-New 2014 Toyota Corolla Sedan?

Unlike our previous story with the BMW 3-Series GT, there's no question whether these two pictures of the 2014 Toyota Corolla sedan that surfaced on the web are real.

The similarities with Toyota's Corolla Furia Concept car seen at last month's Detroit Auto Show are evident, with the production model dropping the "Fast and Furious" styling bits and gaining a more conservative look all around, including an Auris-like fascia.

NAIAS: Corolla Furia Concept Hints at Toyota’s New U.S-Bound Compact Sedan [Updated]

There used to be a time when journalists and the public alike were speculating whether concepts launched at auto shows might indeed make it to production and, if yes, in what form.

Not anymore: automakers are increasingly spilling the beans out themselves. Just like Honda made no secret that its Urban SUV Concept is a small crossover in disguise, even providing a launch date, Toyota revealed what its Furia Concept, which has been teasing before, is all about.

Damn, Where Did That Slab of Concrete Come From?

We're going to guess that Taiwanese authorities placed a slab of concrete in front of this zebra crossing to protect pedestrians from vehicles, but it also seems to work as a punishment tool for impatient drivers.

Take this gifted driver of a black Toyota sedan, who not only disregarded the red light but also tried to make a quick illegal left turn.

Reckless Taiwanese Tour Bus Operator Causes Two Car Accident on Highway

From the first day we get to sit behind the wheel of an automobile, we are all told to check our mirrors and look over our shoulder before attempting to change lanes. As simple as this may sound, some drivers continue to have a problem grasping the concept…

From what we can tell by looking at this video, the person operating the tour bus in Taiwan's Hsinchu City didn't even turn on his blinkers when he abruptly entered the middle lane forcing the driver of the silver Toyota Corolla to lose and spin out of control.

First Installation of the New iPad Mini in a Car

Sure Apple's new iPad Mini might have some shortcomings including its smaller, 7.9-inch non-Retina Display and a steep price tag, but in regards to its footprint, it looks like it could be the perfect fit for automotive applications.

No sooner than it landed on the market, an audio system specialist from Florida named "Soundwaves of Tampa" went ahead to become the first company in the field to install the tablet in a car and specifically, on a 2012 Toyota Corolla sedan.
