Renault Design Chief Says Espace MPV will be Replaced by a Large Crossover

Europe's first modern-day minivan (there had been previous attempts like the 1956 Fiat 600 Mulitpla) will soon be put to rest, at least in its current form, according to Renault design chief, Laurens van den Acker, who told Autonews Europe that the French carmaker will replace the Espace with a crossover model combining styling and practical elements from SUVs and MPVs (Multi-Purpose Vehicle).

What this means is that the Espace's successor will attempt to keep the interior spaciousness and practicality of the current model while placing it under a more SUV-like body with a higher driving position.

Renault Explains Philosophy Behind 320PS Twin'Run Concept

Renault has expanded its operations in recent years, building everything from electric cars with tandem seating to mid-size saloons with V6 engines and even crossovers/SUVs. However, the thing they are most famous for is making great small fast cars, and sadly, the latest Clio RS seems to stray away from that, if we are to believe what we read/watch in the reviews. Renault's Twin'Run Concept is a 320HP Pocket Rocket Previewing Next Twingo [56 Pics & Video]

Following the reveal of the Twin’Z study last month, Renault strikes back with a more hardcore, three-door version called the Twin’Run. It’s not entirely new for our eyes, as the car was scooped in March during the filming of a promo clip in Madrid.

However, now we have all the official details and photos to share, as Renault displayed the concept in Monaco, where the Formula 1 Grand Prix will take place this Sunday.

Renault Asks Its Facebook Fans if They Would Like a Convertible Zoe EV

Renault is ahead of many automakers when it comes to electric vehicle development, with the French company having four EVs already on the market - the Twizy, Zoe, Fluence Z.E. and Kangoo Z.E.

The Zoe is the latest electric Renault that launched on European roads, with prices starting from €13,700 in France and from £13,995 in the UK (both prices include governments’ incentives, but not monthly lease fees for the battery).

Watch the Renault Twizy RS F1 Beat Two Megane RS in Drag Race

The Twizy Renault Sport F1 concept not only looks bonkers, it also goes like crazy! Fitted with a Formula 1-derived KERS system that instantly increases power from 17 hp to 97 hp, it is able to accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h or 62mph in 6 seconds, just like the Megane RS 265.

However, if you watch the video below, you’ll be under the impression that the Twizy concept is even faster than a Megane hot-hatch, given its impressive acceleration off the line (and the not very motivated Megane drivers, one may add).

New Renault Teasers Solve the Riddle of the Mystery Concept: It's the TwinFun

On Tuesday, Renault shared a darkened image of an upcoming concept car scheduled to be unveiled on the sidelines of the 2013 Monaco F1 Grand Prix on May 24. Today, the French brand dropped two more pictures along with some added details but it stopped short from telling us what it is.

However, these two teasers are good enough to solve the mystery as it quickly becomes obvious that the concept is the "TwinFun" (or TwinRun) that was spied and filmed completely undisguised in late March this year while shooting a promo in Madrid, Spain.

Renault Puts F1 Wings and KERS on the Twizy, Makes It as Fast as the Mégane RS 265!

Renaultsport is known for making some crazy cars, but this one may be their most insane ever. It’s called the Twizy Renault Sport F1 and it’s a concept car that shows what happens when you put Formula 1 technology on an everyday electric car.

The result of the collaboration between the engineers at Renaultsport and their colleagues at Renault Sport F1, the showcar rides on the wheels of a single-seater race car and, just like an F1 machine, it has a front splitter, side-pods, rear wing and a diffuser, complete with an F1-style rain light on the lower side of the rear “bumper”.

New Renault Clio Estate Imagined in RS 200 EDC Guise

If there's one small station wagon we could see wearing a 'hot hatch' badge, it is the new Renault Clio Estate. Whether the French carmaker would ever consider placing its RS logo on it, is a different story. Read more »

New Renault Twin’Z is an All-Electric RWD Concept that Previews Next Twingo [75 Photos]

Renault teased us earlier last month with a few teaser images of a new concept car created in collaboration with British designer Ross Lovegrove – and here it is, in its city car glory: the new Twin'Z study that will eventually lead to the French brand's replacement for the Twingo.

If the shape and styling of the Twin'Z look familiar, it's because a sportier version of the same concept in a three-door body-style with a rowdy internal combustion engine named either Twin-Fun or Twin-Run was pictured and filmed in Spain less than two weeks ago.

Scoop: New Renault TwinFun Concept Looks Like a Modern Day 5 Turbo [w/Videos]

A never-before seen Renault concept named TwinFun or TwinRun (we can't make out the fifth letter on the name placed on the tailgate), has been captured on camera while it was being filmed for what we assume to be a promo clip in the city of Madrid in Spain.

While you will be forgiven to mistake it for a Gallic Fiat 500, the presence of the mid-engine Renault 5 Turbo from the early 1980s in one of the pictures explains where the French carmaker drew its inspiration for the three-door hatch.

New Renault DCross Concept is a Dacia Duster Dressed in Style

As some of our readers pointed out earlier today, Volkswagen's new Taigun concept bears a certain resemblance to the Renault Group's Dacia Duster SUV, which becomes a bit more evident with the French firm's DCross Concept that was also revealed today at the Sao Paulo Motor Show.

In Brazil, Renault offers all Dacia models under its own nameplate, including the Duster. So, what is the deal with the DCross Concept?

New Alpine Berlinette Reportedly to be Co-developed by Renault and Caterham

Ever since Renault unveiled the stunning Alpine A110-50 Concept, the resurrection of the famous brand was almost a given, despite the fact that Renault COO Carlos Tavares insists that any decision won't be made until the end of the year.

Last August, Lotus was linked with developing the production version of the A110-50. It was a rumor, which at the time, made sense since the British carmaker has a lot of experience in developing projects for third-party clients.

Now, however, British publication Autocar claims that Renault has chosen Caterham, not Lotus, as its partner in developing the new Alpine Berlinette.

Lotus Rumored to Build New Renault Alpine and Infiniti Emerg-e Sports Cars

In the past few months, Lotus has been making the headlines, but not for the right reasons. After Proton sold the British sports car maker to DRB-Hicom, CEO Dany Bahar was ousted and its future was once again thrown into doubt.

2014 Renault Megane Coupé IV Design Concept

It may be a bit early to be talking about a new Renault Megane - given that the current iteration of the compact model has been with us only since late 2008 having received some mild updates earlier this year, but we have discovered some interesting renderings from designer Clavet Thomas that we thought we'd share with you.

The designs are for a replacement of the sportier looking Megane Coupé, which is essentially a three-door hatchback with a coupe-ish roofline, much in the likes of the VW Scirocco and Opel / Vauxhall Astra GTC.

Renault Alpine A110-50 Concept Shows its Metal at the Goodwood Hillclimb

For reasons that do not need to be explained to an auto enthusiast, the Renault Alpine A110-50 concept study is one of those vehicles that you can never really get enough of, which is why we're bringing you another video of the French sports car.

This film was shot during the Alpine A110-50's speedy drive up the famous hillclimb course at last month's Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Renault Alpine A110-50 Concept Goes for a Ride with its Forefather

With aggressive looks and power to match, the Renault Alpine A110-50 is a worthy successor to the original Alpine A110 Berlinette from the 1960s, and one that most fans of the brand and not only would like to see moving into production.

For now, however, the A110-50 remains a working concept as Renault deliberates whether it will revive the Alpine marque, with a final decision to be made before the end of the year.

Renault to Replace Modus with a Juke-Like Small Crossover Based on the Captur Concept

An unnamed source from within Renault has confirmed earlier rumors about the presentation of a small crossover model loosely based on the French firm's Captur concept shown at last year's Geneva Salon.

The company insider told Autonews Europe that the new model will launch next year replacing the Modus and Grand Modus in Renault's European lineup and will be built at Renault's factory in Valladolid, Spain, which currently produces the two aforementioned small minivans.
