Hydrogen-Powered Audi A7 Could Begin Trials and Testing in August

Hydrogen fuel cells have always presented an interesting alternative to conventional battery-powered EVs. They offer the advantage of having an on-board power station that mixes stored hydrogen with oxygen from the air, creating water and a small electric charge that is captured and used directly to propel the vehicle. Nothing harmful is emitted, aside from water vapor.

Now, according to British magazine Autocar, Audi will begin trials this August for a fuel-cell-powered A7, though, it is not the first manufacturer to have done so.

Audi Adds Extra Shifts to Meet Demand for its A6 and A7 Models

While most carmakers in Europe complain of overcapacity and are forced to close plants, Audi announced that it has added 12 extra shifts at its factory in Neckarsulm, Germany. This happened in the first quarter of this year, due to strong demand for its A6 and A7 models. New Audi RS7 Sportback Envisioned as a Ferocious Group B Rally Car

The spanking new Audi RS7 Sportback is one of our favorite cars from the ongoing Detroit Auto Show.

With a sleek-looking body and a masculine 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 pumping out more than 550-horses to all four wheels, what's not to like? Well, you could say its price tag, which will certainly be more than the $78,800 Audi commands for the 420hp S7 Sportback, but that's another story.

Audi Introduces New 240HP 3.0-liter V6 Diesel for A6, A7, A8 and Q5 SUV in the U.S.

While extremely popular in Europe, for a long time, diesel-powered passenger cars were a non-entity in the U.S. automotive business. Furthermore, it was more likely to see pink flamingos parading in Times Square than a premium brand automobile with a diesel engine under its hood.

Today, things are quite different. Diesel engines are nothing like they used to be, nor are gasoline prices, so manufacturers are not afraid to add diesel variants to their U.S. line-up.
