Renault Clio RS 200 EDC Drag Races Predecessor and Peugeot 208 GTI

When you’re buying a relatively affordable hot hatch, the sheer amount of performance you are offered is hugely important, especially if you are the kind of person who really likes his or her car, and wants everybody to know just how much.

Currently, the Renault Clio RS 200 EDC, with a 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol engine is the king of the supermini-based hot hatches, when it comes to how much of its power it can put to the ground.

Watch the Renault Twizy RS F1 Beat Two Megane RS in Drag Race

The Twizy Renault Sport F1 concept not only looks bonkers, it also goes like crazy! Fitted with a Formula 1-derived KERS system that instantly increases power from 17 hp to 97 hp, it is able to accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h or 62mph in 6 seconds, just like the Megane RS 265.

However, if you watch the video below, you’ll be under the impression that the Twizy concept is even faster than a Megane hot-hatch, given its impressive acceleration off the line (and the not very motivated Megane drivers, one may add).

Renault Unsure About Making an RS-Badged Electric Car

We’ve seen what a powerful electric vehicle can do, both on the road and on the track. A battery-powered model carries more weight than a conventional petrol- or diesel-powered alternative, but it has a simplified drivetrain and instant torque, so it does have its advantages.

While Renault Sport is interested in adding an EV to their sporty lineup, it doesn't seem ready yet, according to a report from CarAdvice, which spoke to the brand's motorsport technical manager, Francois Champod.

Renault Puts F1 Wings and KERS on the Twizy, Makes It as Fast as the Mégane RS 265!

Renaultsport is known for making some crazy cars, but this one may be their most insane ever. It’s called the Twizy Renault Sport F1 and it’s a concept car that shows what happens when you put Formula 1 technology on an everyday electric car.

The result of the collaboration between the engineers at Renaultsport and their colleagues at Renault Sport F1, the showcar rides on the wheels of a single-seater race car and, just like an F1 machine, it has a front splitter, side-pods, rear wing and a diffuser, complete with an F1-style rain light on the lower side of the rear “bumper”.

Check Out the Renault Clio RS 200's Launch Control

The Renault Clio RS 200 has been in the limelight in recent months, and while we've pretty much covered most aspects, from pricing to its design and performance figures, one neat feature that the car comes with is launch control,  which doesn't seem to be mentioned that often, not even by Renault itself. The Year of the Hot Hatch: See Which Models We're Expecting in 2013

If anything else, this year, the automotive world will be blessed with a wide range of new hot hatches for you to choose from. Sadly, for U.S. buyers, most of these pocket rockets will be staying in Europe, but if there was ever a time to switch continents, now would be it (well, from an automotive perspective...).

To make your decision easier, we have put together a list of all of the hot hatches that are expected to go on sale in Europe in 2013, and which you can check out in detail right after the break.

Sounds Like GT-R Spirit: Why the New Renault Clio RS Sound App is Just Lame

Call me a conspiracy theorist if you like but, although I don’t believe in the “second shooter” theory or that those white lines in the sky are something other than contrails, I have a nagging thought that, in the past few months, some of the most charismatic CEOs in the automotive industry have been replaced by clones.

Nissan’s Carlos Ghosn is idolized in Japan for turning the ailing carmaker around; he even starred in a manga. Forming an alliance with Renault was also a very successful movement, allowing for parts sharing and cost-cutting while giving each carmaker its own distinct character and, in the process, churning out some pretty driver-oriented cars such as the Nissan GT-R or the Renault Sport Megane and Clio.

New Clio RS Priced in the UK, Offers App that Reproduces Nissan GT-R Sounds from Speakers

After its Paris Motor Show debut last September, Renault has confirmed UK pricing and specification for the Clio RenaultSport (RS) 200 EDC, which is available exclusively as a five door model with a six-speed automatic dual clutch transmission (Efficient Dual Clutch), in two trims.

The base version of the 197hp (200PS) 1.6-liter turbo-powered hatch starts at £18,995, which Renault makes a point to note that it's "only £100 more than the three-door, manual Peugeot 208 GTi and £1,055 less than the lower-powered, DSG-equipped five-door Volkswagen Polo GTI".

The Days of RenaultSport Models with a Manual Gearbox May Be Numbered

The sporty division of Renault, RenaultSport, has made some cracking drivers' cars over the years, being largely acknowledged as one of (if not the) best maker of fun-to-drive hot hatches.

The combination of a great balanced chassis, sharp steering and a positive mechanical gearshift meant that any RS-badged car, including the smallest car they made, the Twingo RS, were a hoot to drive.

CAM SHAFT Prepares Renault Clio RS for Nürburgring Adventures

As one of Europe's finest hot hatches, the Renault Clio RS Mk3 (pre-facelift) feels right at home at the Nürburgring racetrack, so much so that German aftermarket firm Cam Shaft decided to create a tuning package for the French pocket rocket loosely inspired by the 'Ring taxis.

The first few things you will notice about Cam Shaft's Clio RS is the matt Graphite Metallic wrap accentuated by green splashes and some cheeky writings such as the "MOVE RIGHT >>" sticker on the windshield and the "International –explicit- Crew" logo on the bottom of the front doors.

Renault Shifts Into Sport Mode with New Clio R.S. 200 EDC Powered by 197HP 1.6L Turbo

Hold on to your hats because Renault has just yanked the covers off the most dynamic version of its fourth generation Clio at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, the 2013 Clio RenaultSport (RS) 200 EDC.

While the French carmaker continues a long tradition of sport hatches, the new Clio RS differs in many ways from its predecessors. For starters, like the rest of the range, it will be offered exclusively as a five-door model.

Scoop: 2013 Renault Clio RS 200 Undisguised in White, Paris Motor Show Debut and EDC Confirmed

Only yesterday, we brought you pictures of the new Clio RenaultSport (RS) Mk4 without a single trace of camouflage, but our scoop photographers were fortunate enough to spot a second undisguised prototype, this one finished in a more revealing white instead of black exterior shade.

But that's not the only reason we're writing this post as fresh information landed into our hands earlier today.

What we learned is that the "New Clio RS 200 EDC" will definitely make its first public appearance at this month's Paris Motor Show. If you noticed, we mentioned the name of the car in quotes. This is because that's how the performance version of the new Clio was described to CarScoop.

Spy Shots: New Renault Clio RS Mk4 Caught Completely Undisguised!

Even though Renault hasn't made it clear it yet if the regular fourth-generation Clio supermini will be joined by its performance brethren, the Clio RenaultSport (RS), at the brand's the Paris Motor Show stand, there's a good chance it will.

Those of you who just can't wait to see how the 2013 Clio RS Mk4 looks like, we have good news as for the first time, our spy photographers nabbed the hot hatch completely undisguised at Renault's Nürburgring facility.

The frisky French supermini will take on the likes of the also new Peugeot 208 GTi and the Volkswagen Polo GTi when it goes on sale in Europe next year.

On the outside, the RenaultSport variant obtains a rather discreet styling package, which includes a newly styled front bumper with enlarged air vents, a honeycomb grille insert surrounded by a body-colored strip (instead of the regular model's chrome finish), side skirts, a larger roof spoiler and a twin-exhaust set-up in the rear apron that hosts a diffuser.

Renault Megane RS to Star in Transporter TV Series Episode, First Pictures and Video

If you enjoy cars and movies, you will no doubt have seen at least one of the three Transporter films starring Jason Statham as Frank Martin, a professional freelance courier driver for hire who gets in all sorts of troubles and high-speed car chases.

What you may not know is that HBO, HBO Canada, French TV-channel M6, and German television company RTL, have joined forces to create a television series based on the film aptly named "Transporter: The Series".

Watch and Hear the New Renault Clio RS Mk4 Race up the Goodwood Hillclimb from Inside

This year's edition of the famed Goodwood Speed of Festival may have passed into the realms of history but Renault had a surprise in store for us today with the release of a new video showing its Clio RS Mk4 prototype running the famous hill climb.

The new clip includes footage shot from the interior of the French firm's hot hatch, thus affording us the chance to see bits and pieces of the cabin as well as to hear the 2013 Clio RS' engine from the driver's perspective.

Renault Clio RS Mk4: Three Designers Speculate on its Looks

Following the presentation of the 2013 Renault Clio hatchback earlier this week, we received not one, not two but three separate design renderings in our mailbox, each attempting to imagine the next generation of the Clio RS.

The designs were made by 'Cavalino', Dan Buzdugan of PS-Garage and Khalil Bouguerra of Virtuel-Car, all of whom based their renderings on the prototypes captured by spy photographers over the previous months as well as the one that made a surprise appearance at the 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed just last weekend.

2013 Clio RenaultSport Mk4 Makes Surprise Debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed

We knew that Renault was going to show the Alpine A110-50 Concept at the Goodwood Festival of Speed (June 28 – July 1) but the French carmaker had another surprise up its sleeve for this outing as it brought along a camouflaged prototype of the upcoming 2013 Clio RenaultSport Mk4.

The test car competed in the famous hill-climb event with Renault's Chief Operating Officer Carlos Tavares behind the wheel.
