VW Wants €26,900 or About $34,500 for the All-Electric e-up! in Germany

If you thought the Volkswagen e-up! would be one of the cheaper EVs in the market, mainly because of its small size, and the affordability of the model which it’s based on, you were wrong.

Reality doesn’t come close to complimenting the previous statement, as VW has just revealed that the all-electric version of their über-compact city car will not be cheap at all, once it goes on sale in the months after its official reveal at the Frankfurt motor show, in September.

This is Possibly The First Recorded Crash of a New VW Golf GTI Mk7

Even though there's always going to be a first time for car crashes, we sincerely doubt anyone in their right mind wants to have the distinction of being the number one when it comes to any kind of accident.

Nevertheless, sometimes, you just can't avoid it, as was the case of a duo of journalists trying out the new Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk7 during the hot hatchback's launch event in Cape Town, South Africa.

VW May Offer Next Polo Subcompact and Sub-Tiguan Crossover in the U.S., Says Report

Ever since Ford deemed it productive to start selling what is basically the same Fiesta that the Europeans get in the US, it created a moderately big Polo-sized gap in VW’s Stateside lineup. Now, according to a MotorTrend report, the Wolfsburg giant has taken notice of this, and may offer the next-gen Polo, alongside its familiar range of models, as well as a new sub-Tiguan crossover. VW’s New Golf MK VII Estate a.k.a. the Next Jetta SportWagen Reviewed

Just after receiving its official pricing information for the UK market, the seventh-gen VW Golf estate (to be sold as the new Jetta SportWagen in North America) has also gained its first short test, in the typical fashion of local reviewer Honest John.

As you’d expect for a VW Golf review, there’s really nothing bad to say about the car, and if you’ve watched previous videos done for the hatch, it is advisable to re-watch them before having a go at this this, just so you have a clear picture about what Wolfsburg’s breadwinner is all about.

VW Reportedly Considering Door- and Roof-Less Buggy Up!, Patents Design in the U.S.

Europe's largest carmaker, the Volkswagen Group, isn't known for producing platforms and mechanical components for single body style models (at least not in the mainstream segments), and that applies for the Up! mini, which was launched in 2011 as a three-door hatchback and has since gained a five-door and a light crossover version. VW Advertises Its Side Assist Technology in Funny Commercial

I’m pretty sure there is no driver out there that wasn’t surprised at least once by a vehicle he or she didn’t see in the car’s rearview mirrors. It’s called a blind spot and every mirror has it. This is why automakers have begun offering systems that alert drivers when a vehicle is in the blind spot. Read more »

Chris Harris Finds the Meaning Behind the New VW Golf GTI

I don’t really understand why some people used to call the old Mk V and Mk VI VW Golf GTIs boring, when in actual fact, with 200 – 210 hp, they are anything but that, and neither is the latest one, which is the lightest and most powerful one in years.

If you want a boring GTI, then look no further than the Mk IV, which only had a laughable 148hp (150PS) when it first came out, and was virtually indistinguishable from the rest of the range – it didn’t even have a proper visible exhaust tip, hiding its pipe behind the rear bumper.

Then there’s the rear-wheel-drive BMW M135i powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six engine that churns out 316 hp (320PS). Finally, the most curious choice of the test is the VW Golf GTI Performance, a front-wheel-drive 227hp (230PS) car powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. Read more »

Racing Bliss: Watch Jari-Matti Latvala Tackle the Acropolis Rally 2013

To truly appreciate the talent, hardships and dangers of racing on a professional level in a very difficult and demanding course like the Rally Acropolis that is held in dusty, jagged and rocky mountain roads around Athens, one would have to take the seat next to the driver, but that's near impossible for most people.

The next best thing we can think of is to mount a couple of cameras onboard and watch the driver and co-pilot unfold their skills, which brings us to this video from the official WRC channel.
