Jaguar C-X75's 502HP 1.6-Liter Engine May Power a Production Car


There are no plans to produce the Jaguar C-X75, but the engine that gave the bulk of its power, the 502HP 1.6-liter turbocharged, four cylinder gasoline unit, may still have a chance. According to a report from Piston Heads, the F1-derived engine is still being developed and could make it to production. Read more »

The automotive world is often a cruel one, and some of the coolest cars never make it into consumers’ hands, because of some technicality, costs or logistics. I was quite sad when Jaguar announced last year that their promising C-X75 hybrid hypercar, which was both reportedly very green and very fast, received the axe, and I feared I would never get to see one of these in action. Jaguar C-X75 Hypercar is No More; British Brand Says it Axed the Project, but will Auction 3 Examples


Last year in May, Jaguar told the world of its intention to build a limited run production version of the striking C-X75 hypercar concept that was displayed at the 2010 Paris Motor Show.

At the time, Jaguar had said it would offer the car with an advanced hybrid powertrain instead of the concept's futuristic jet-powered setup limiting production to around 250 units.

Now we learn that the British carmaker has backtracked on the decision axing the project due to the current global economic crisis.
