Next Generation Audi Q7 to be a Fair Chunk Lighter

The current generation Audi Q7 is as you’d expect, a very heavy vehicle, tipping the scales in V8 TDI guise at just under 2,500 kg or 5,510 lbs. However, trying to keep up with more modern rivals, like the new Range Rover that uses an all-aluminum construction to cut weight, it is now known that the all-new model will also be considerably lighter.

Sharing its MLB platform with the Volkswagen Touareg and Porsche Cayenne, it is expected to shed some 360 kg (800 lbs), thus boosting performance, handling and efficiency – the two aforementioned vehicles feel very similar on the road, and the new Q7 will probably be no different.

Watch an Audi SUV Run Into a Ditch

Without having additional views or info, we cannot be certain who is to blame in this accident that ended with an Audi Q7 (or so we think it's a Q7, but we wouldn't be surprised if turns out to be a Q5 – oh, Audi and your one-style-for-all-sizes strategy…) driving into and out of a ditch on the side of the road. Audi to Rely on SUVs to Become World's Top Luxury Automaker

The three premium German automakers used to be famous around the world for their fast, well-built and luxurious saloon cars, but in recent years, that perception has been considerably altered by the addition of SUVs. Audi wants to Double SUV and Crossover Lineup with Q2, Q4 and Q6 Models

Many gearheads and journalists alike have whined and moaned about premium automakers diluting their brands' cachet by developing SUVs and crossovers, but the truth is, that's where the growth is these days. Just look at Porsche and the Cayenne.

Compared to its home-market rivals BMW and Mercedes, Audi was late to the party having launched its first entry in the SUV segment only eight years ago with the full-size Q7, which was followed by the compact Q5 in 2008 and Q3 in 2010.

Hofele-Design Turns the Audi Q7 Facelift Into the STRATOR GT 780

We don't know if anyone would actually refer to their Audi Q7 as the "STRATOR GT 780" after Hofele-Design transforms the facelift version of Ingolstadt's full-size luxury SUV, but in any case, that's the name given to the tune by the German-based shop.

The aesthetic treatment encompasses a new front bumper with larger intakes and four additional lamps on the corners, front and rear wheel-arch extensions with matching side skirts, a roof spoiler, front fender air vents, and a wide rear apron with a diffuser.

German Design Studio to Turn Audi Q7 into a Coachbuilt Bentley SUV

While a tad over simplistic, one could say that, the tuning industry seems to have finally caught up with the Volkswagen Group's penchant for parts and platform sharing.

For those that do not want to wait for the production Bentley EXP 9 F SUV, German design studio Atelier Valdeig has collaborated with Armortech Motors to create a coachbuilt version of the current generation Audi Q7 offering buyers a choice of Bentley-inspired fascias and rear end styling.

The SUV is called the Tresor, which the company says is French for "treasure" and German for "safe" or "strong room".

While neither partner makes word of Bentley for obvious reasons, they do point out that the Tresor's exterior "marries traditional British design cues and sportiness" and that "the seats and the dashboard come from a noted English luxury car maker" – no prizes for guessing the brand…
