Scoop Video: This Ferrari California Prototype is Likely Fitted with a V8 Turbo

We are not exactly sure why Ferrari is testing out turbocharged California prototypes, but they are real and undergoing testing at the Fiorano test track. Marchettino spotted one such vehicle about one year ago, and now a new and louder one has made its appearance in Italy. Read more »

Is This the New Ferrari F150 Hypercar?

Carscoops reader Colin P. just dropped a couple of tips in our email box, both regarding the spanking new Ferrari F150-codenamed hybrid supercar.

The first one is a Twitter picture shared by Charles Morgan, Managing Director of Morgan Motors, that shows a covered up car at Ferrari's Geneva Motor Show stand, with a man who…doesn't really look very pleased, running towards the person holding the camera.

You can now forget about that 0.0001 percent chance you thought you might have of being able to own Ferrari's next masterpiece, which we have come to know as the F150-codenamed replacement of the Enzo.

A new report from Autoweek citing "people familiar to the matter" says the new Ferrari hypercar will have a pre-tax starting price of around €1 million (US$1.33 million at today's currency rates). Add the taxes, and you're looking at €1.21 million or $1.6 million, if you live in Italy.

New Details on Ferrari F150 Hit the Web after Private Preview, Said to have 950HP

Ferrari has an old habit of showing off its future models to potential buyers (read extremely wealthy) behind locked doors well before it reveals the cars to the rest of the world.

One such private preview is rumored to have taken place on Wednesday, in Maranello, where Ferrari lifted the wraps off the F150 Project, which is the codename for the Enzo replacement that may or may not be called the F70 in production trim.

To prove that this event did indeed occur today in Ferrari's home town, one participant took a shot of a metal plate from the event, while at least two people have shared some very interesting details about the new mid-engine hypercar, though, keep in mind, there's no way of confirming the numbers (yet).

Spy Shots: Ferrari's F150 Hypercar Shows a Little Bit More Skin

Unlike McLaren, which has all but revealed the shape of the P1 and even released videos of its development, but is keeping mum on the powertrain specs, Ferrari has been very open about its own hypercar, currently code-named the F150 (rumor has it that it may be named F70). However, aside from a couple of teaser photos, Maranello won't fully show us the Enzo's replacement. Read more »

Ferrari California Replacement to get Turbocharged V6 and/or V8 Engines?

In November 2011, we scooped a Ferrari California prototype with larger wheels and two triangular air intakes on its hood doing the rounds at the company’s test track in Italy.

At the time, we figured it could be a hotter version that would be introduced with the model’s 2012 update. While the California was indeed updated in key areas, there was no hotter variant in sight at its Geneva Motor Show debut.

Then, last summer, another “baby Ferrari” mule was caught, this time on film. The inlets were absent but the hood was visibly positioned higher and, more importantly, the distinctive hissing of turbochargers betrayed that there was something unusual hiding underneath.

Ferrari Teases Enzo Replacement in its Official Magazine

Despite the fact that the car we've been calling the Ferrari F70 will be produced in limited numbers and, if its forebear is anything to go by, you’ll have to be invited to spend an obscene amount of cash on one (don’t bother calling Maranello – they’ll call you…), Ferrari has let a couple of images, as well new info slip through about its new hypercar.

Posted in the official Ferrari magazine, the images show the front and rear ends of the Enzo replacement that bears the F150 codename.

A shadowy image of a red sports car displayed on a large screen, which some believe could be previewing the new Ferrari flagship codenamed F70, has been making the internet rounds in the last 24 hours.

At the time being, we can neither confirm nor deny the authenticity of the F70 picture that first appeared on a Ferrari fan page on Facebook.

Scoop: Ferrari 458 "Monte Carlo" and F70 Allegedly Filmed on the Fiorano Track

There's an unconfirmed rumor going around the net that Ferrari is working on a track successor to the 360 Challenge Stradale and the 430 Scuderia models based on the current 458 Italia named the "Monte Carlo".

It is a prototype of this model that the folks over at the Dutch forums Autogespot claim to have filmed racing around the Italian brand's Fiorano test track together with a prototype for the F70, which is what the media has been calling the Enzo's V12 hybrid replacement, due to be revealed next year, possibly as early as the Detroit motor show.

SCOOP: New Ferrari F70 V12 Hybrid Makes Another Pass for the Camera

As Ferrari engineers ramp up their efforts to complete the development of their new Enzo-replacing hypercar that is currently known by its internal codename F70, the more chances we have of getting a glimpse of the prototype models.

This video footage comes courtesy of the crew at the YouTube channel Speedspot who filmed an F70 draped in black covers while cruising on the roads around Maranello in Italy along with some not-so-happy Ferrari people…

New Ferrari F70 V12 Hybrid Hypercar Through the Eyes of David Williams

No thanks to the extensive efforts of Ferrari's engineers to keep all prototypes of the Enzo's replacement (codenamed F70) safe from prying eyes, there's a lot of speculation about what Maranello's next top model will look like.

Independent artist David Williams from Sydney, Australia, whom we first heard about this past June through his Ferrari 365 Turin design concept, took a good look at Ferrari's test cars and put his imagination to work to create his own vision of the F70.

Before we let you check out Williams' well-executed renderings in the gallery below, we'll remind you that the new F70 is slated to debut before the end of the year and go on sale in 2013.

The rear wheel-drive flagship from Maranello will sport a hybrid powerplant linking a mid-mounted 7.3-liter V12 naturally aspirated V12 rated at around 800-horses to a dual-clutch transmission and a pair of electric motors with about 120hp for a total system output in excess of 900 ponies.

Scoop: Ferrari's Enzo Replacing F70 Hypercar Filmed Howling Around Maranello

It has been a long time for Ferrari to be without a flagship hypercar - eight years to be precise, since production of the Enzo ended in 2004, but the Italians are getting ready to return to the category they helped forge.

Before the end of the year, we'll have the opportunity to see Ferrari's next magical automotive creation, currently codenamed F70, in all its glory, but for now, YouTube user Souvlaki57 shared a video of a prototype model he captured on the move in the streets of Maranello in Italy.

Ferrari Filmed Testing What Sounds Like a Turbocharged California

A prototype of the Ferrari California hardtop roadster has been captured on film testing at the automaker's private circuit in Italy.

What makes this video of particular importance is not the lightly camouflaged car itself, but the sounds produced from its front-mounted engine, as it appears to be sporting a turbocharged powerplant.

New Ferrari F70 Prototype Scooped in Maranello?

With the presentation of the Enzo's replacement having being confirmed for the end of 2012 by Ferrari’s Chairman Luca di Montezemolo himself, it's actually surprising that the Italians have managed to keep the supercar under wraps for such a long time.

Today, we got word from one of our readers that a friend of a member of the Ferrarichat community snagged a very interesting prototype driving around the company's headquarters in Maranello, Italy, and which we believe to be the next Enzo that may or may not be called the F70.

Spy Shots: Ferrari F70 Prototype Caught Testing at a Facility in Germany

What looks at first in these spy pictures like a shooting-break prototype of the 458 Italia is in fact a test mule for Ferrari's next top supercar and a replacement for the Enzo.

Many believe that Maranello's forthcoming flagship model will continue the naming tradition that started with the F40 and F50, and as such, will be called the F70.

Ferrari Enzo Replacement Rumored to get 920HP V12 Hybrid Powerplant

Like many other carmakers, Ferrari doesn't disclose a lot of details about its upcoming production models, something that leaves plenty of room for speculation and rumors, the latest coming from Motor Trend magazine.

The publication reports that the Ferrari Enzo's replacement will be shown to select customers at a private event this fall before it makes its official world premiere next year, most likely at the 2013 Geneva Salon in March.
