Pro_Cee’D GT, Kia’s First Ever Hot Hatch Tested

Since Kia’s new Cee’d and Pro_Cee’d three- and five-door hatchbacks are winning praise for their competence in the class, despite having only one prior version for the manufacturer to gain experience from, whereas all of the main rivals literally have decades-worth of history in Europe, it was only natural that they eventually used it as a base for a hot hatch. Kia Reportedly Planning Additional GT-Badged Performance Models

The Pro_Cee’d GT, the first production Kia to bear the new two-letter performance badge, isn’t even really out yet, and the Korean automaker is already reportedly planning to launch additional models which would get similar treatment with the same badge. The information comes from AutoExpress, which had a chance to speak to “a source from within the company,” at the Pro_Cee’d GT UK launch. Read more »

Kia Puts a Price Tag on Hot Pro_Cee’d GT for UK Market

If the name Pro_Ceed’d GT, which is far too long and too contrived, doesn’t put you off buying a hot Kia, then the model’s recently acquired price tag of £19,995 for the UK market positions it in a market sector which it has for itself, only fighting off Renault's GT Line and the odd higher-spec VW Scirocco.

The model has been developed to be a kind of sub-hot-hatch vehicle, so there’s less outright power than any of its apparent direct rivals, but the car itself looks just as sporty, and it matches the sexy two-door Vauxhall/Opel GTC and Renault’s Megane RS for presence - it's still a bit faster than what are called warm hatches, though.

Kia Soul EV to Cost $35,000 and Offer a Driving Range of 124 Miles / 200km

When it comes to the electric vehicle segment, Kia and its parent company Hyundai are lagging behind the competition, which is why the Korean companies are planning to launch their first mass produced EV as early as 2014.

According to a report from Kia World, an electrified version of the Kia Soul MPV is expected to launch in the first half of 2014 as a follow-up to the Kia Ray EV, which is a limited run vehicle destined exclusively for the South Korean government fleets.

The Korean carmaker's free service program covers the first five factory-scheduled appointments and is valid for 36 months (3 years) or 37,500 miles (60,400km).

Kia Sedona Back from the Dead with Some Trivial Updates for the 2014 Model Year

When Kia announced the death of the Sedona minivan last spring stating that it would come back to the segment in 2013 with a new model, this wasn't what we were expecting, and by that, we mean the return of the same generation model with some barely noticeable tweaks here and there.

The only logical explanation is that the South Korean carmaker pushed back its plans for a successor to the series for an undisclosed reason.

Kia Reveals Specs and Pricing for UK-Bound Carens Minivan

The idea of buying an MPV/minivan may not get your pulse racing in terms of driving excitement or looks, but the cars that feature the most modern interpretation of the formula are certainly much better than you'd expect. Take for example Kia’s Carens people mover, which goes on sale in the UK on May 1st, with a starting price of £17,895, a choice of three engines and the classic Kia seven year warranty. Read more »

What a McNutt! Repeat DUI Offender Smashes Into Five Cars on Idaho Highway

Drivers on Interstate 90 in the Coeur d'Alene area in Idaho had the fright of their life this past Sunday (April 21, 2013), when a Kia sedan driving erratically was involved in at least five accidents and plenty of near misses with other road-users, some of whom were driven off the highway.

Kon Shiva, the owner of a vehicle tinting shop in Spokane, was an eyewitness to the events and captured footage of the Kia driver as he was swinging on the road before he smashed into a blue Honda Civic and abandoned the scene with the cops right on his tail.

Kia Thinks New CUB Concept is a Four-Door Coupe

Automakers often leave us scratching our heads with the things they claim in their press announcements and presentations. By definition, the term four-door coupe is a misnomer because technically, you can have both, but let's say for the sake of conversation, we accept it for what it stands in today's automotive world – a sedan with a coupe-like profile and roofline.

Looking at these freshly released pictures of Kia's brand-new CUB Concept that debuts at this week's Seoul Motor Show (March 28 to April 7), how would you best describe its body style? If you answered a five-door hatchback, Kia will kindly disagree with you, as according to the Koreans, the CUB is a "compact four-door coupe".

Kia Optima Gets Subtle Nip and Tuck for 2014 Model-Year

The Kia Optima has really made a name for itself, especially in the US, where it is viewed as a stylish and relatively affordable car – it is one of the main and most stable image boosters for the brand's Stateside affairs, in our view (along with the Soul and Forte). The 2013 New York motor show brings about a refreshed Optima, updated for the 2014 model-year. Read more »

It’s Got Track'ster Soul: Kia Unveils Second Generation of its Compact “Urban Utility Vehicle”

Like the late Frank Sinatra said “if you can make it there, you’ll make it everywhere” – which is why Kia chose the Big Apple, a city it rightly names as the world’s most iconic metropolis, to launch the second generation, 2014 Soul.

Mind you, despite retaining the distinctive profile the new Soul is not a revamp of the current model that was launched in 2009 but an all-new car that rides on a new platform that’s 28.7 stiffer than before. The second-generation Soul was designed by Kia’s California studio, which drew inspiration from the Track’ster concept that was unveiled at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show, and engineered both in the US and Korea.
