Sound and Tire Burning Fun with a New Maserati Quattroporte GTS V8

Despite its name, heritage, origins, and of course, a Ferrari co-developed and force-fed 3.8-liter V8 lurking under its long hood feeding 523-horses (530PS / 390kW) the rear wheels, the new 2014 Maserati Quattroporte GTS saloon isn't a car you'd expect to be hooned around, even the slightest. Unique Maserati Quattroporte Shooting Brake from 2009 Up for Auction

As far as fast and expensive estate cars are concerned, there are many which fit in the €80,000 to €120,000 price bracket, but most are German, all-wheel drive and usually a tad soulless, as fans of Italian car brands like to say.

If you are looking for a fancy estate with a lot of punch, costing about that much, then you are in luck, because something very Italian and exclusive has cropped up, and it’s set to go under the hammer on May 25.

Recall for Alfa 8C, Maserati Quattroporte and GranTurismo, and Subaru Outback and Legacy

The beginning of the week brings two separate and unrelated recall actions, the first from Alfa Romeo and Maserati, and the second from Subaru.

Maserati's North American division issued the recall for certain model year 2005-2008 Quattroporte, 2008 Granturismo, and 2008 Alfa Romeo 8C vehicles, because rear tie rod assemblies on these cars may have insufficient anti-corrosion material applied and could rust and weaken, leading to a possible fail.

This Is How You Kill a Maserati Quattroporte with Sledgehammers...

The following video will definitely trigger a deja-vu sequence among many of our readers; an expensive Italian luxury car destroyed with sledgehammers in China. Yep, we’ve seen that before.

The only thing different between the 2011 video and the new one added after the break is the car, as the Lamborghini Gallardo is now replaced by a Maserati Quattroporte. However, the reason for which the owner hired some...muscleto destroy the car is the same: poor servicing.

If Maserati Ghibli V6 Diesel Succeeds, Fiat Might Add V8 Diesel to the Range

A few years ago, one could still buy a V8 diesel-powered vehicle from pretty much, any of the German manufacturers (BMW used a boosted up V6 six-cylinder which did the same job - think 535d). Now, aside from the Porsche Cayenne S diesel, which has a long waiting list, there are no V8 diesels on the market to really speak of – they have all-but been wiped out and replaced with more V6s. Maserati's First Ever Diesel Engine Co-Developed with Ferrari, Built in Maranello

As most of you already know, the recently unveiled 2014 Maserati Ghibli will be available with a diesel engine, the first such unit ever fitted to a car wearing the trident badge.

While the carmaker said the engine will be a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel, it didn't go into details, leaving room for speculation about the source of the powerplant. Fiat and Chrysler already have a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel engine supplied by VM Motori that equips the new Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Lancia Thema and may soon be fitted to the U.S.-market Chrysler 300 as well.

Maserati Develops New Base Quattroporte with 326HP V6 for Chinese Market

This weekend's Shanghai Auto Show will see Maserati holding the world premiere of the new Ghibli premium mid-size sedan, but it won't be alone, as the Italian manufacturer announced today that it will be joined by a new entry-level edition of the new Quattroporte.

Maserati tells us that the base Quattroporte is fitted with a V6 engine producing 326-horsepower (243kW or 330PS), without providing further details about its specifications, but adding that this model was "specifically conceived and developed for the Chinese market".

Maserati Quattroporte S Q4 Looks Grippy in New Promo – Sounds Good Too

When we first heard that the sleek new Maserati Quattroporte was getting a base V6 engine, whereas the previous generation car only had a beefy V8, we shook our head in disagreement. However, when the words twin turbo and all-wheel drive are added into the mix, along with a respectable 404hp (410 PS), we became considerably more interested. Read more »

Maserati Unveils All-New 2014 Quattroporte Luxury Sedan in Detroit [w/Video]

The sixth-generation Quattroporte that was unveiled by Maserati in Detroit is not only the brand-new flagship of the Trident’s range, but also the car that spearheads an offensive that will increase global sales nearly 10-fold, to 50,000 units annually, by 2015.

Choosing the 2013 NAIAS was only natural, as last year the North American market, i.e. the U.S. and Canada, accounted for nearly half (46 percent) of Maserati’s total sales.

The all-new Maserati Quattroporte will make its world debut on the upcoming Detroit Motor Show but the Italian company has already let the motoring press get their hands on its flagship luxury saloon.

Maserati Launches New Global Pre-Owned Car Locator Website

Just like most other carmakers, Maserati now has its own dedicated website for finding pre-owned vehicles including certified models, though, unless we were…blinded from the Italian brand's premium sports cars, we couldn't find a link on the site explaining what "certified pre-owned" really means to buyers and how it compares to non-certified vehicles.

One major difference over many other websites or pages of the sort is that the so-called Maserati Stock Locator provides access to dealers all across the world.

New Video of Maserati Quattroporte Night Testing at Balocco Proving Ground

The first of many new products to come from the Maserati and Alfa Romeo brands over the next few years in the premium segments is the 2013 Quattroprote full-size, luxury sedan.

Now in its sixth generation and probably more mature than ever – some will say, too mature…- the new Quattroporte will make its global premiere in a couple of weeks' time at the Detroit Auto Show before it goes on sale worldwide at prices few will likely be able to afford.

Maserati Product Plan Sheet Confirms New Models Including Sports Car Series

According to a new Fiat Group document that outlines the company's European plans through 2016, the Italian carmaker has decided to change its strategy and rely much less on mainstream products like the Punto and Bravo and more on premium and special vehicles, be that the Fiat 500 family, or the re-born Alfa Romeo and Maserati brands.

We've already told you about Alfa Romeo in a previous article (see here), so let's see what the future holds for Maserati.

Time to Gander the New Maserati Quattroporte in 67 High-Res Photos

We have already had a first opportunity to see Italy's latest attempt in the luxury sedan segment, but Maserati wants us to get a better view of its all-new, sixth generation Quattroporte model with the release of a fresh gallery of pictures.

The car with which the Fiat Group is targeting the world's finest premium saloons such as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Porsche Panamera, Jaguar XJ and BMW 7-Series, is said to have been designed from the ground up featuring a new platform, new powertrain options along with new comfort and technological features.

But is it really, "all-new"? Well, that depends on what you consider "all-new" as it does borrow certain components from the Fiat-Chrysler parts bin, including the Chrysler 300-derived chassis and the Pentastar V6's engine block along with a selection of other bits and pieces such interior switchgear.

First Video Reviews of New Maserati Quattroporte, Fiat Says it Counts on Chrysler to Help Brand

There’s no doubt that Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne is an outspoken and ambitious man. Paradoxically, while he succeeded in helping turn Chrysler around, the group’s European operations are in trouble.

His most recent plan is to use the Chrysler tie-up to boost sales of Maserati. He has quite a tight time-schedule, too: as Maserati CEO Harald Wester said, he wants the Modena-based luxury carmaker to deliver 50,000 vehicles by 2015.

Well, that’s less than half of what Porsche sells today. At the same time, it’s more than eight times the 6,159 cars Maserati shifted in 2011!

Well, according to Autonews, Marchionne will invest US$1.2 billion in Maserati and is counting on the Quattroporte flagship saloon, the upcoming smaller Ghibli sedan and the Levante SUV, as well as the 2,300-strong U.S. Chrysler dealership network, to help him achieve this target.

While the Italians have yet to share details on their website, they did with some select magazines including Motor Trend that has the skinny on the luxury model that will be making its first public outing at next month's 2012 NAIAS in Detroit.

We'll begin with the powertrain options for the 2013 Quattroporte that include two brand new turbocharged engines.

New 2013 Maserati Quattroporte Video is One of the Same

Maserati continues to be cryptic about its new Quattroporte luxury sedan, some three weeks after it released the first images and videos of the car.

We still don't get any information about the 2013 model's technical specifications, but the Italian automaker launched another short film about the car on Wednesday, one that brings the camera up and close to the exterior and interior details of the same beige-colored model we saw before.

Che Bella Macchina: A Brief History of the Maserati Quattroporte

A few days ago, Maserati revealed the sixth generation of its flagship saloon. Although it hasn’t disclosed all the details, we know that the all-new Quattroporte is bigger than its predecessor, more luxurious and loaded with the latest tech features and a V8 engineered by Ferrari that sends power to the rear wheels.

The Modena-based manufacturer knows very well that its latest model enters a class that’s getting pretty crowded. Back in the 1960s, when the first generation was launched, competition was minimal. Nowadays, no niche is taboo for anyone so Maserati has to compete with the likes of the Porsche Panamera and the Aston Martin Rapide.

Until we learn all there is to know about the new Quattroporte we can afford to take a short journey back in time to meet its ancestors.
