OK-Chiptuning's Murdered Out Audi R8 Phantom Black Panther

Black is the word for OK-Chiptuning's most recent project based on the pre-facelift Audi R8 V10, as everything sans the wheels is finished in this shade. On the outside, you may also notice the carbon-front lip and rear diffuser sourced from the R8 GT and the painted front grille. Read more »

Spy Shots: Audi to Complete Revamped R8 Lineup with New Hardcore GT Plus Edition

When our spies caught up with a slightly modded version of the sold-out Audi R8 GT testing on the Nürburgring last year, we were wondering what Ingolstadt was up to, since it had already introduced the facelifted R8 family.

Now, with these latest spy shots, we can partially provide an answer to that question as a camouflage-free R8 GT prototype made its appearance on the German track again, only this time, it’s based on the updated R8 with the new LED front and rear lights, while also doing away with the vented hood.

Nissan’s GT-R Track vs. Audi’s R8 V10 Plus in MT Test

We recently showed you MotorTrend’s review of the Nissan GT-R with the optional Track Pack fitted, and the conclusions at the end of that test were pretty clear – it is a very serious “supercar killer,” which is immensely competent, but a bit detached and not that fun to drive at regular speeds, needing to be pushed hard to get enjoyment. ABT Sportsline Nudges 2013 Audi R8 V10 to 592 Horses

Once again, ABT Sportsline is pickup up where one of the Volkswagen Group brands left off, and in particular, Audi and its refreshed 2013 R8 V10, for which it has developed an assortment of upgrades, starting with an ample power boost. Read more »

Harris Pits Audi R8 V10 Plus Against Porsche’s 911 Turbo S and 750 HP Tuned Nissan GT-R

Chris Harris always seems to like comparative tests better than single-car reviews, simply because there is more to talk about, analyze and/or examine. Each of the chosen cars is driven in turn, and at the end, conclusions are drawn.

This time, he has chosen an Audi R8 V10 Plus, a Porsche 997 Turbo S and a Nissan GT-R. However, as he himself admits, just bringing any old GT-R wouldn’t do the competition justice (in terms of price, at least), so what he’s actually brought to the track is a Litchfield-tuned car, which reportedly has around 750 hp, a revised chassis and ceramic brakes.

Audi Lets Us Know the R8 is "Handcrafted" in New Short Video

For some reason, the fact that a car was put together by a human, instead of a machine has always boosted its exclusivity and price, despite the fact that, with the latest precision robots, the same level of attention to detail can be achieved either way. Still, Audi is using this well-known industry fact to boost the appeal of their supercar, the R8. Read more »

Asshat Audi R8 Driver is Just Asking to be Rammed by Mazda3

If we told you that, there was a fairly new, and evidently, very expensive Audi R8 sports coupe, and a mainstream Mazda3 on a city road, and that one of the two drivers was provoking the other one, performing dangerous moves, who would you think that would be?

Understandably, most would say that the Audi R8 driver would be the victim and the person behind the wheel of the Mazda3 the perpetrator. Well, if you made those choices, you're wrong because the exact opposite occurred in this incident from St. Petersburg, Russia.

Iron Man 3 Approves 2014 Audi R8 in New Promo

Just like kids who can't resist wearing an Iron Man's plastic mask, Audi too can't stop associating itself with the Marvel comics superhero and the third film in the Iron Man franchise that will see Tony Stark, played by actor Robert Downey Jr., using a battery-powered R8 e-tron coupe for his casual strolls around town. Spy Shots: Audi Continues Testing Canned R8 e-tron

Up until last year, Audi was talking about the market launch of its battery-powered R8 e-tron, and even set a new record for production electric cars at the Nürburgring lapping the winding 13-mile German racetrack in 8 minutes and 9 seconds with a pre-production model (if that makes sense…). Then, all of a sudden, Audi said the launch of the all-electric R8 e-tron has been "delayed indefinitely". Read more »

This is What the New Audi R8 V10 Plus Sounds Like on the Dyno

Even if it never crossed your mind, we're pretty sure that you would be interested to learn what an Audi R8 V10 Plus with its pants pulled down (or so to speak) sounds like accelerating at full throttle on a dynometer. Read more »

Tony Stark Says Sayonara to NSX, Returns to Audi and its R8 e-tron for Iron Man 3 [w/Video]

Tony Stark's brief love affair with Acura and the new NSX-style roadster prototype, which was in fact a re-bodied, first gen NSX, is over (at least for now…), as the protagonist of the Iron Man and The Avengers franchise, is returning to Audi's arms.

The man in the iron suite, played by Robert Downey Jr., will sit behind the wheel of the battery-powered R8 e-tron in the third installment of the Iron Man, which is due to hit theater screens on May 3.

No doubt, one of the highlights at ABT's stand will be the firm's tune for the new seventh generation VW Golf hatchback, previewed here in a rendering, in which we get a taste of the cosmetic applications that include an assortment of aero parts, headlamp and mirror trims, and a new alloy wheel design from the ER-X line.

Audi R8 V8 Versus Porsche 911 Carrera 4S on the Track

Take a look at the Volkswagen Group's vast lineup of cars and you will be hard pressed to find two vehicles competing for the same buyers that are so different to each other.

On one side, you have the recently updated Audi R8, which sports a 424hp (430PS) 4.2-liter naturally breathing V8 engine positioned right behind the driver linked to an all-wheel drive system.

New Audi Promo for 542HP R8 V10 Plus with Dual-Clutch Gearbox

It might not look like it, but the Audi R8 was launched back in 2006. In spite of being Audi’s first effort in the class, it gathered universal praise as a very competent supercar that was also practical enough to be used every day.

Five years ago, double-clutch gearboxes were not all the rage that they are today; even the then current Ferrari, the F430, was sporting a normal automated manual that was identical in concept to the R8’s R-tronic offered alongside the six-speed manual.

Audi R8 Coupe Burns to the Ground During Mumbai Supercar Meeting

As it appears, Ferraris and Lamborghinis aren't the only mid-engine supercars to go up in flames. The same happened to an Audi R8 coupe that was trailing a phalanx of other supercars participating in the 'Parx Supercar Show 2013', in the city of Mumbai in India.

Predictably, many by-standers and passengers of other cars were filming the ride and were able to capture the moment when the Audi R8 started to smoke and the driver and his co-passenger jumped out to save themselves. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

What the Plum? eBay Audi R8 Seller Vies for your Attention…

Hate it or love it, sex sells - even on eBay Motors. Unlike this eBay seller that laid false claims about a young woman posing on a 1977 Datsun 280Z being his daughter for some extra spicy attention, the owner of this black 2008 Audi R8 GT is letting the pictures speak for themselves.

We don't get the opportunity to learn the young woman's name, but we do get to know a little about her preferences in underwear and lingerie, and that she fits comfortably on the R8's door.

Audi R8 PD GT650 Dress Up Kit by Prior Design

By any standards, the Audi R8 is an impressive looking sports car just the way it leaves the factory assembly line.

Still, you are always going to find owners who will want to give their R8 a more customized and extreme appearance, which is where tuning companies like Germany's Prior Design step in to help.

MT Drives 2014 Audi R8 with New Dual-Clutch Semi-Auto Gearbox

Even though most motoring journalists labeled the Audi R8 “the everyday supercar”, confirming its raison d'être, Motor Trend senior features editor Jonny Lieberman kindly disagreed.

That’s because he found the R8’s R Tronic semi-automatic transmission too jerky and abrupt in its gear changes. True, there’s also a six-speed manual gearbox, but apparently, Lieberman likes the auto option in the cars he intends to drive around every day.
