Only a very limited number of alternatively powered cars even come remotely close conjuring up an emotional response from their driver, as they are usually compromised in some annoying way that spoils the entire experience. Read more »

Next Porsche Panamera to Share Platform with the Future Bentley Continental

When the second-generation Porsche Panamera launches sometime by mid-decade it will use a common platform with the third-generation Bentley Continental family.

According to a report from Edmunds, the 2016 Porsche Panamera will use a special version of VW Group’s front-engine rear-wheel-drive MSB body architecture. The next-generation Panamera, which is expected to be largely influenced by the Panamera Sport Turismo Concept (pictured above and below) that was revealed last year at the Paris auto show, will keep the current car’s layout. This means it will continue to have four low-mounted seats and a central tunnel running through the cockpit.

Porsche Delivers 15,000 "Sports Cars" in May, 5,800 of Which Were 911s, Boxsters and Caymans

Porsche announced on Thursday that it delivered 15,020 vehicles globally last month, 13 percent more than in the same month last year. This brings the total number of sales for the first five months of the year to 67,261 – up 19 percent compared to January – May 2012.

What’s interesting is that Porsche’s release says deliveries reached 15,000 sports cars in May, which in my view, is a clear abuse of the term "sports car". A closer look reveals that a little over a third of these vehicles were from the 911 and Boxster/Cayman ranges, with the rest comprised of Cayenne SUVs and Panamera saloons (or liftbacks, to be precise).

Porsche Builds 100,000th Panamera in Leipzig

Less than four years after the production debut of the Panamera, Porsche’s Leipzig plant in Germany today built the 100,000th example of the liftback model. The milestone vehicle is a new Panamera S E-Hybrid in “rhodium-silver metallic”. The milestone model festively drove off the assembly line and through a paper wall that was signed by employees beforehand. Read more »

Poll: Has The Facelift Done The Trick for the Porsche Panamera?

When I first saw the Panamera Sport Turismo Concept, I was very pleased to see that the next incarnation of the Porsche sedan was going to stop being disproportionate (especially at the back), and start being handsome like it should have been all along. However, now that the facelift has been revealed, we have something to ease the wait for the completely new version, which is due around 2015 or 2016.

What we are left to contend with until then is the recently unveiled 2014 model-, which I believe has helped the Panamera rid itself of some of the awkward styling cues.

Porsche Panamera Facelift Gets New LWB, 410HP Turbo V6 and Plug-in Hybrid Variants [w/Video]

Following yesterday’s leaked photos, Porsche dropped official images and information about its refreshed 2014 Panamera range.

Leaving aside the light cosmetic tweaks shown in the photos, the 2014 Panamera’s big changes are the addition of an S E-Hybrid plug-in model developing 410hp (416PS), the debut of two Executive versions that come with an extended wheelbase (+150mm or 5.9 in.) and the launch of an entirely new 3.0-liter biturbo V6 engine for the Panamera S and 4S models.

2014 Porsche Panamera Facelift with New Twin-Turbo V6 and Hybrid V6 Leaked

Images and initial specifications of the refreshed 2014 Porsche Panamera have just leaked online ahead of an official release, which should follow later in the day or during this week.

As we've seen many times through the prototype models over the past year or so, the cosmetic tweaks for the first facelift of the Panamera are concentrated on the two ends, with the front gaining newly shaped headlights and bumper, and the rear end, LED tail light clusters, a new bumper, modified tailgate and a relocated license plate holder.

Badass Porsche Panamera Race Car with a Striking V8 Soundtrack

If you call a car "badass", it should mean something. The term is thrown around quite a lot, and it is attributed to unmeritorious automotive proposals. However, once you see and hear this racing version of the Porsche Panamera, which in 2014 will look like this, all will become clear and your standards for judging "badass-ery" will have risen considerably. Facelifted 2014 Porsche Panamera Meets 2013 Audi S6 on German (?) Highway

If you're not a professional spy photographer, the chances of randomly meeting up with a prototype on the road are rare to zilch – depending on your location, even more so if you're travelling at night when it's far more difficult to spot lightly camouflaged models.

Yet these two gentleman in a 2013 Audi S6 (that's the one with the 414hp / 420PS 4.0-liter TFSI V8), were able to tell apart a 2014 Porsche Panamera test car – likely from the LED lights at the back and the tweaked nose up front.

Best Spy Shots Yet of 2014 Porsche Panamera Facelift with Minimal Camouflage

If the design of the Porsche Panamera never caught up with you, then chances are the facelift model won’t win you over either, as the changes made to the sports saloon are the typical evolutionary updates we've become accustomed to from the Stuttgart company.

Nevertheless, this fresh batch of scoop photos provides us with the best look yet at the 2014 Panamera as Porsche engineers have removed all camouflage from the car sans the deceptive headlamp decals and the darkened film on the tail lamps.

Canada's Anibal Proposes a New Outfit for the Porsche Panamera

The Montreal-based tuning house we came to know by its Porsche 911 Attack package, Anibal Automotive Design, is now looking into a new customization program for another one of Stuttgart's models, the Panamera sports saloon.

Named Prestige, the cosmetic aspect of the project is featured in a series of computer generated images in which we see the aerodynamic kit.

Spy Shots: 2014 Porsche Panamera Reveals Cayman-Like Lights

While it's been over a year since we first spotted a prototype of the refreshed 2014 Panamera testing out in the open, Porsche isn't ready to release the car to the public just yet, but fear not as our sources tell us that it will make its appearance sometime this year, possibly at the Frankfurt auto show in September.

What these latest spy pictures provide us is with a better look at the facelifted Panamera's rear end that sports new LED tail lamp clusters that look similar in styling to those used on the new Cayman coupe and Boxster roadster models, as well as the newly styled bumper.

Scoop: Facelifted Porsche Panamera Shows its LED Tailamps in the Dark

If Porsche sticks to its original plan, we'll see a new generation of the Panamera heavily inspired by the lines and shapes of last year's Sport Turismo Concept and expanded with new body styles in 2016.

In the meantime, Porsche will update the current Panamera saloon with a mid-life facelift, which is expected to make its first appearance this year, but we still don't know where – the Frankfurt show in September is a prime candidate.

Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo Makes its Driving Debut in Beverly Hills

When Porsche launched the Type 970, aka the Panamera saloon at the 2009 Shanghai Auto Show, it received quite a lot of criticism. Though in no way did it induce the wrath of the press and the public like the Cayenne SUV did, they all agreed that its design was, if not ugly, then certainly heavy-handed.

It was an issue that came up in each and every review: the Panamera was praised for its sporty ride, quality interior and ability to transport four adults and a fair amount of luggage but its exterior styling was always the sticking point.

Fast forward three years to the 2012 Paris Auto Show and the Panamera Sport Turismo concept. In sharp contrast to the production Panamera saloon, the shooting brake received universal praise for its sleek styling that, the company said, “is an outlook on a possible Porsche sports car of tomorrow”.

You Won’t Believe Why Porsche Headlight Thefts Surge in Amsterdam

While pot smokers can puff a sigh of relief after Amsterdam's mayor stated that cannabis cafés will remain open for business with foreign visitors, despite a new Dutch law designed to reduce drug tourism, Porsche car owners in the city won't be sharing the same sentiment.

Only in the past week, some 20 owners of Porsche Panamera sedans and Cayenne SUVs in Amsterdam had their vehicles' headlamps stolen.

If you are wondering why the sudden surge in Porsche headlight thefts, the answer will leave you stunned: Amsterdam Police suspect that the thieves are using the Porsche Xenon headlamps for use as grow lights for marijuana!

After the fiasco with the Burberry-themed Range Rover, Carlex Design decided to play it safe with its newest project car based on the Porsche Panamera Turbo S.

Instead of drawing inspiration from fashion houses, the Polish tuner says that this time, the Panamera it created was "inspired by the yellow brake caliper covers that had been installed on that vehicle".

Porsche CEO Says Sport Turismo to Influence Future Models’ Design, Hints at New 'Ring Record Time

Talk to most people about the current Porsche Panamera's biggest flaw, and they are very likely to point towards its exterior design. Porsche’s foray in the segment may be a fine sports saloon featuring a nicely crafted interior, but its bodywork is unexciting to some, ugly to most.

Company CEO Matthias Muller talked to Motor Trend at the Paris Auto Show and said some very interesting things about the company's future models.

First of all, Muller revealed that the head- and taillights of the Panamera Sport Turismo concept, which was displayed in Paris, will gradually be applied to all Porsche models, starting with the Macan compact luxury SUV that’s due next year.
