A Video Presentation of the Made-in-China Buick Riviera Coupe Concept


Last week, General Motors pulled the wraps off a gull wing, two-door Buick Riviera concept at the Auto China 2013 motor show in Shanghai. Even though GM has no plans to produce such a model, the Riviera Concept's goal is to give us an idea of how Buick's design language will evolve in its next generation of cars, for both North America and China, which is the brand's biggest market.

"The new Riviera offers a preview of Buick's future design language," Shanghai General Motors Corp. President Ye Yongming said in a statement.

This is How Buick Sports Up its Cars in China


Placed a little further behind from Buick's new Riviera Concept Coupe at the Shanghai motor show floor are two tuned versions of the American brand's Chinese market Regal GS sedan and Excelle XT hatchback, which European consumers will recognize as the (pre-facelift) Opel / Vauxhall Insignia and Astra respectively. Buick Revives Riviera Nameplate Again with Another Concept Coupe for China


Did you feel a sense of déjà vu upon hearing the name and looking at the pictures of GM's new Buick Riviera Concept? If the answer is yes, then you likely remember the Buick Riviera Coupe Concept from the 2007 Shanghai Auto Show.

While that study never materialized into a production car, GM's Shanghai GM and Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center (PATAC) joint ventures are giving the project a fresh try with a new concept at this weekend's 2013 Shanghai motor show.

Meet the Adams Family: Buick's Waterfall Grille Plastered on Opel's Premium Mini


Knowing that GM has rebadged a number of Opel models as Buicks since its restructuring in 2009, including the Astra and the Insignia, there was no doubt in our minds that sooner or later, someone would turn Opel's new Adam premium city car into a Buick.

'Automotive manipulator' Theophilus Chin replaced Opel's French mustache-styled chrome piece with Buick's trademark waterfall grille, and well, that's all that was done to the car.
