Designer Envisions Sporty Honda R-EV Concept for Asian Teens

Electric cars for the masses is a relatively fresh concept in the automotive industry, and one that still has a long way to go before it can compete in numbers with sales of conventional engine passenger vehicles for a number of reasons, ranging from the costs associated with the technology, to reliability and infrastructure. However, make no mistake; we will see battery-powered cars increasing in numbers (in terms of both models and their overall market share) over the years. Read more »

Honda Eyes China's Lucrative Mid-Size Sedan Segment with New CRIDER

Remember last year's impressive Honda C-Concept saloon? Well, here's what happens when reality kicks in for designers, engineers and managers: the production-ready CRIDER, which made its world premiere at this weekend's Auto China 2013 in Shanghai.

To say that Honda water downed the styling of the C-Concept would be the understatement of the year, though, if you try hard enough, you might find some common ground between the two cars (see gallery after the break).

Honda Proposes New Concept M Minivan to Chinese Buyers in Shanghai [w/Video]

When it comes to practical people-carriers, Chinese consumers usually turn to small commercial vehicles these days, but Honda thinks it can open the local market to passenger minivans.

Like many other studies shown at the Auto China 2013 in Shanghai, the Honda Concept M is also intended for production with the Japanese carmaker stating it is aiming for a market introduction as early as next year.

Honda Shows Production-Ready Crider Concept in Shanghai

Honda has just pulled the wraps off its sub-Accord sedan for the Chinese market, dubbed the Crider concept – the name is apparently a combination of the words “Criteria” and “Dreams”, which must have made sense at the time... The car looks like a pre-production model, to our eyes, so this is pretty much what buyers will be getting when it goes on sale by the end of June. Read more »

Honda to Present Production C Sedan and S MPV, Plus New Concept and Acura Study in Shanghai

There will be a lot to see and talk about at the Honda and Acura stands at the upcoming Auto Shanghai 2013 in China next week (April 20 to 29), as the Japanese manufacturer has prepared a multitude of world premieres, beginning with the production versions of the Honda Concept C and S, both of which were displayed for the first time at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show last April.

Honda said it will "display models substantially identical to the mass-production versions" of the C mid-size sedan (pictured above) and S compact minivan, both of which are scheduled to be introduced to the market this year.

Honda Civic Wagon Concept Officially Debuts in Geneva

Let's get two things straight: the Honda Civic Wagon Concept, revealed at the Geneva Motor Show, is not really a concept, as it is more of a pre-production car with some fancy bits bolted on – these exact body panels and its shape will be carried over to the actual production model.

The second thing is that Honda really needs to make it work, as sales of the latest UK-built Civic hatchback have been less than satisfactory.

With the 2013 Geneva Auto Show being less than a month away, auto manufacturers are beginning to reveal details about the models they will debut in Switzerland.

Honda Surprises Canadians with World Premiere of New GEAR Concept at Montreal Auto Show

Being that the Montreal International Auto Show takes place the same week as the Detroit Auto Show, we can't say that we were expecting any world premieres, but Honda surprised us today with the unveiling of a new concept car named GEAR at the Canadian event.

The Japanese carmaker stated that the GEAR is a fresh study for a sub-compact (think Ford Fiesta) model aimed at young, urban, Gen-Y lifestyles. It added that the concept was inspired by fixed-gear bicycles (hence the name) and that it is "simple and utilitarian, but also customizable, connected and full of personality."

Honda Urban SUV Concept Debuts in Detroit, Previews Small Crossover Due in 2014 [Updated]

The Honda Urban SUV Concept made its world premiere today at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show. According to the Japanese automaker, its styling, which features clean, taut lines and “hidden” rear door handles, hints at a new small SUV that will be launched at the end of the year in Japan and in 2014 in North America.

Measuring 4,300 mm (169.3 in) long, the new small SUV is 23 cm (9 in) shorter than the compact CR-V, under which it will slot in Honda’s crossover line-up.

Mugen Details New Honda CR-V Design Study, Could Enter Production

Typically, with the presentation of a mainstream Honda model, the brand's tuning partner Mugen instantly comes out with its own package of goods, but in the case of the fourth-generation CR-V that was introduced in late 2011, that never happened.

This might change if Mugen decides to create a production version of its prototype CR-V Design Study that was unwrapped at this week's Tokyo Auto Salon.

First Photos of Mugen's New Honda CR-V Design Study

Among the many new customized vehicles being prepared by Honda for a world premiere at the Tokyo Auto Salon in mid-January, is the Mugen CR-V Design Study, which was announced, but not included, in the automaker's teaser photo gallery that we shared with you earlier today.

To satisfy our curiosity, we snooped around and found two photos of the Mugen-fettled concept that will most likely lead to a production model sometime next year.

Honda Gets Super Busy for 2013 Tokyo Auto Salon with a Barrage of Concepts and Tuned Models

Honda will be unleashing a host of new production and prototype vehicles and motorcycles at Japan's largest aftermarket event, the Tokyo Auto Salon 2013 that runs from January 11 to Sunday, January 13, 2013.

The first car that caught our attention is the S2000 Modulo Climax study of Honda's roadster model that ceased production in 2009.

It's featured in a Candy Red paint and sports a newly designed front end with a chrome brace-like strip, a new rear bumper and a series of other customizations both inside and out.

As one of its newest model series, the "N" family of mini cars that includes the tall, van-like N BOX and N BOX + models and the retro-inspired N ONE hatch, will be under the spotlight, with Honda to display the cars dressed in both production and concept parts from the likes of its in-house tuners, Modulo and Mugen.

Automakers Envision Highway Patrol Vehicles of 2025 for LA Show Design Challenge

Have you pondered what the world will be like in, let’s say, 2025? Predicting the future is nigh impossible but one thing’s for sure: law enforcement agencies are still going to be around in one form or another.

If things turn sour, by 2025 we might very well have a Judge Dredd-like scenario with a police state trying to maintain the law in urban jungles. If, on the other hand, all those wishes for world peace eventually come true, police officers will have a much more relaxing job.

Honda's Micro Commuter EV Edges Closer Towards Production

Carmakers from Europe and Japan seem to be pushing for the development of diminutive city cars powered by batteries for one or two adult passengers. Renault essentially ignited the trend with the launch of its quirky looking Twizy, which in all fairness, is more quadricycle than car.

Honda wants some piece of the action with the introduction of the new Micro Commuter Prototype that is loosely based on last year's concept of the same name displayed at the Tokyo Motor Show.

Honda Goes Into High Speed Mode with New Supercharged CR-Z Concept

From day one, we all knew what was missing from the Honda CR-Z – feel free to say it out loud with us: Power, Power and Power. With the exception of some limited-run production models prepared by Honda's in-house tuner Mugen for Japan and Britain, the automaker has not addressed this problem.

At the 2012 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Honda is displaying yet another concept model for a faster and more focused version of the CR-Z, which it describes as, "a further exploration of the performance potential of the CR-Z Sport Hybrid", but does not say if it has any plans for production.

2013 Honda Accord Coupe and Sedan Take the Stage at the SEMA Show

Honda says it is "reaching out to the enthusiast community" with two new concepts of the 2013 Accord that were built by independent vehicle tuners and which are on display at this week's SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

The most impressive of the two models is the 2013 Accord Coupe "Grand Touring" developed by Bisimoto Engineering, which upgraded the stock car's 3.5-liter V6 with a supercharger system and a boatload of other goods to lift output to 401-horses.

This is NOT the Production Version of the 2015 Acura NSX, this is the Concept…

Earlier today, a set of monochromatic renderings of the Acura / Honda NSX were posted on China's Sohu website and were quickly picked up by other sites such as Carnewschina and Jalopnik, with all claiming more or less that these pictures are of the 2015 production model and that they were leaked "from China’s patent office".

Well, we can assure you that this is not the case - period. To begin with, the pictures were originally released on the European patent agency on February 22, 2012, a little over a month after the concept was displayed at the 2012 North American International Auto Show.
