U Spy: Hyundai Preparing the Elantra Sedan for its First Facelift

Arguably, with the fifth generation of the Elantra, Hyundai took a big step forward on just about every front but in particular, the design and refinement departments, in its ongoing quest to become one of the most bestselling brands in the world. Proof of that was the North American Car of the Year title it snagged in 2012. Read more »

U Spy: What's Jeep Doing with a Fully Camouflaged 2014 Cherokee in Hollywood?

Given Carscoops' readers sentiments on the design of the new generation 2014 Jeep Cherokee, as strongly expressed in the comments sections our inaugural posts about the car here and here, it's not hard to imagine what some of the answers may be to the question posed in our title.

But seriously now, if you were to block the images of the Cherokee from your thoughts, what do you think Jeep is doing with this prototype in full camouflage, which was nabbed this week by Carscoops' reader Stephen D. as he was driving to his work in Hollywood, California?

Fresh Photos from Need for Speed Movie Set with McLaren P1, Lamborghini Sesto Elemento

The filming for Dreamwork's upcoming "Need for Speed" Hollywood blockbuster continues at Mendocino County, where the crew at Mendocinosportsplus (MSP) had first captured the McLaren P1 on the movie set.

One of Carscoops' readers, Andrew L., happened to stumble upon a truck carrying the British hypercar to one of the filming areas and took a few shots, which he kindly shared with us.

U Spy: Hyundai's Refreshed 2014 Equus Flagship Caught on U.S. Roads

It's only a matter of days before Hyundai blows the covers off the North American market version of the subtly revised 2014 Equus sedan at the New York Auto Show, and even though we've seen what the Korean domestic market (KDM) model looks like, the company's engineers continue to drive around camouflaged prototypes here in the U.S.

One such test car was captured on camera by Carscoops reader Sammy, who sent in these pictures of the 2014 Equus.

Citroen Shows Production 2014 C4 Picasso in New Promo Video

Citroen continues to make us scratch our heads with the next generation of the C4 Picasso. After circulating a ton of undisguised test cars on Europe's roads and labeling the production model as the Technospace Concept at the Geneva Motor Show, Carscoops reader Florian D. discovered a promotional video from the French company in which we see the new the C4 Picasso (look at the 1:13 mark). Test Your Scoop Skills: Can You Tell Which Car Was Spied in this Lot?

We have a new quiz for you, courtesy of Carscoops reader Jonathan P., who nabbed these pictures of a camouflaged test car at a parking lot. For the record, we received these photos from Jonathan at the end of last month, but we placed them on ice, if you will, because of our heavy workload with the Geneva Motor Show.

Now, we could tell you which model we believe it is (no, it's not the Carscoops 2000), but where would the fun be in that?

U Spy: New Kia Quoris Sedan Makes Yet Another Appearance in California

In less than three weeks, two separate Carscoops readers have captured a camouflage-free version of Kia's new flagship sedan, the Quoris, both in the sunny state of California.

Reader Patrick M. tells us: "I was in Los Angeles for spring break and I spotted the Kia Quoris. I don't know if it's news, but I read every day and figured I'd try to contribute." Well, thank you very much Patrick and congrats for keeping an eye open for future models.

U Spy: New Citroen C4 Picasso Shows Its Better Side

For some strange reason we find hard to comprehend, at the same time Citroen is preparing the world premiere of the new Technospace Concept (which previews the next generation C4 Picasso) at this week's Geneva Auto Salon, the French carmaker is also circulating examples of the production model on European roads without any attempt to conceal their looks. U Spy: Kia's New Quoris Flagship Basking Under the Californian Sun

For some unexplained reason, Kia won't give us a definitive answer on when it's spanking new, rear-wheel drive Quoris flagship sedan will go on sale in North America, with officials simply stating that the car is currently being "evaluated" for the United States.

Given this fresh sighting of a Quoris (marketed as the K9 in South Korea) wearing nothing but its tuxedo black paint job in California by Carscoops reader Tom H., we'd say the frustratingly long evaluation process continues.

U Design: The New Alfa Romeo 4C Spider

If anything else, the community here at CarScoop seems hyped about Alfa's return to its roots with the upcoming 4C series.

After one of our readers who attended an Alfa Romeo dealer meeting in Europe shared detailed information about the 4C, including preliminary pricing, production numbers and even the company's plans to expand the range with Racing, Spider and Stradale versions, another reader, Anton Gjorsev, sent us this rendering of the convertible model.

U Design: New BMW M2 Convertible Rendered

As BMW begins to circulate craftily camouflaged prototypes of its second generation 1-Series Coupe and Convertible models, which will form the new 2-Series range, out in the open, the question arises if the Bavarian carmaker has plans for an M2 high-performance version.

From what we have heard, BMW M seems open to creating an M2 model, possibly powered by a four-cylinder turbocharged engine instead of the M135i hatchback's 3.0-liter force-fed straight-six, which would mark a first for the brand since the demise of the original M3 E30 back in the early 1990s.

U Spy: Can You Crack the Brand and Model Behind this SUV Prototype?

Our first reader-sourced, photo scoop of the year comes to us from Daryl who crossed paths with this heavily disguised test car earlier on Monday.

Here's what Daryl told CarScoop:

"Not sure what I'm looking at here. I was sitting at a stoplight 10 minutes ago, saw the swirly camo, and knew it was something in testing. I only had time to snap one good picture. Attached is the full size pic as well as a cropped and zoomed version of the same pic. I took this as they were getting off southbound highway 101 in Windsor, CA".

U Spy: We Remember the Cars You Scooped in 2012

We would like to begin by personally thanking each and every one of our readers who contributed with their scoop images and in some cases, videos as well, to our "U Spy" section that has gained a lot of traction over the years, with 2012 being no exception.

The fact that many of you took the time to shoot pictures of yet-to-be revealed models that you happened to cross paths with and picked CarScoop as the site of your choice to share them with other readers and fellow gearheads without ever asking for something in return is truly admirable and sure gets our engines running.

U Spy: Facelifted 2014 Hyundai Equus Luxury Sedan Spotted in California

When CarScoop reader Hunter L. emailed these scoop shots he took of a camouflaged prototype sedan parked in a garage in California, he told us it's likely a 2014 model Hyundai, something we agreed with him, with our first thought going to the new Genesis saloon that we caught off guard testing in Europe earlier this month.

While the two prototypes may look similar, upon a more careful examination of the photos and specific details such as the lights, the dashboard and the window line, we determined that this is not the new generation of the Genesis but the North American market 2014 Equus facelift, which has been announced in South Korea.

U Spy: BMW i3 Coupe Concept Parked on the Streets of LA

As we were reminded earlier this week, BMW has been working on electric cars for four decades now beginning with the 1602 Electric in 1972, and next year, it will introduce its first series production EV in the form of the all-new i3 five-door supermini.

At the recent LA Auto Show, BMW displayed a three-door concept version of the sub-compact model named the i3 Coupe, and it is this car that CarScoop reader Alfred H. spotted on the road this week.

U Spy: New Skoda Octavia Combi Also Snagged in Chile

For some…inexplicable reason, Skoda is having a hard time hiding its new Octavia from snooping eyes while filming the car on…public roads in Santiago, Chile.

About a week ago, it was CarScoop reader Nicholas W. who captured the saloon or to be precise, the liftback model on the streets of the South American country, and now, it is Juan J., a member of the Conducechile forums, who was able nab the station wagon variant of the third generation Octavia.

U Spy: Porsche's New 2013 Cayman Coupe and Macan SUV Filmed in Stuttgart

While you can occasionally stumble on a 2013 Cayman at an airport warehouse in the U.S., there's no question that the best locations to spot a future Porsche model are the Nürburgring race track and the automaker's home city of Stuttgart in Germany.

CarScoop reader Toldi has made an art of capturing upcoming Porsche models on film and this time, he was able to scoop two prototypes, the 2013 Cayman coupe and the all-new Macan mid-size luxury crossover.
