Qoros Brand to Make China Debut at Shanghai Motor Show

For most people, the name Qoros remains an unknown quantity - for now. After the brand introduced itself with the classic phrase "Hi, I'm Qoros and I'm an automaker," at the Geneva Motor Show earlier in the year, it's now time for the other important market their cars are aimed at to get a closer look – China. Qoros will be making its official China debut at the Shanghai International Auto Show, on 20 April. Read more »

Guess How You Open the Boot on the New Qoros 3 Sedan at the Geneva Show

It shouldn't come as a surprise that there was a lot of interest about Chinese-Israeli startup brand Qoros and its new '3' compact sedan during the press days of the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, which will be open for the public until March 17.

The 4,615mm long sedan is the company's first model and it will go on sale in China and Europe in the second half of the year, with Autonews reporting that it will be priced under €20,000 (equal to about US$26,000 at today's exchange rates).

The compact saloon shares the show floor with two more models, which are displayed in concept form, but look very close to being production-ready: the 3 Cross Hybrid and the Qoros 3 Estate.

Here’s Why Qoros Renamed its Compact Models from GQ3 to 3

You know the saying, "what goes around, comes around". Well, now so does Chinese-Israeli startup Qoros, which last year, took Kia to German courts to ban the Korean company from using the "Quoros" moniker for its flagship rear-wheel drive saloon in Europe because it sounded too close to its own brand name.

For several months, Qoros was advertising its first ever production and concept models under the GQ3 nameplate, when all of a sudden last week, the automaker released photos of the cars named the "3".

Qoros Details New 3 Production Sedan and Cross Hybrid and Estate Concepts

The compact car we came to know as the QC3 from Chinese-Israeli start-up brand Qoros over the past few months will be named the 3 Sedan (no similarities with the other 3 from…Bavaria), the company announced today, while also providing real-life pictures of the production-intent 3 Cross Hybrid and 3 Estate Concepts, all of which will make their world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show.

Qoros says the 3 Sedan will be manufactured in a new assembly plant in Changshu, China, with sales to begin in its home market during the second half of 2013, and in Europe towards the end of the year, and will be followed by new models at intervals of approximately six months.

Chinese-Israeli Qoros Brand to Debut GQ3 Cross Hybrid and Estate Concepts in Geneva

Newly formed automobile brand Qoros has shared fresh information about its presence at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in the beginning of March.

Besides the world premiere of its first production model, the GQ3 compact saloon, Qoros will also display two new concept models named the Cross Hybrid Concept and Estate Concept, both of which are based on the sedan.

"Intelligent modular vehicle platform technology allows us to create new vehicle concepts quickly and efficiently," commented Vice Chairman of Qoros Auto, Volker Steinwascher. "The Qoros GQ3 is the first of many models that will be based on this platform, and the technology will allow us to develop a complete model family in a very efficient manner."

Qoros Reveals its First Ever Production Model, the New GQ3 Compact Sedan

Qoros might be a brand new name in the automotive world having been formed by China's Chery Automobile Co. and Israeli investment firm Israel Corp. in late 2007, but it sure has picked up quickly on how the business works.

Borrowing a page from much older and established companies in the industry, Qoros' teaser design sketches of the exterior of its first production model left promises of a dynamically styled saloon, which as you can see, doesn't really apply to the real life car that we will come to know as the GQ3.

China's Qoros Offers First Glimpse of its New European Sedan

Qoros is the latest Chinese carmaker to attempt to crack the difficult European market with its first ever production model that will be revealed in a world premiere at next year's Geneva Motor Show.

We still don't know the name of the car, but Qoros has already told us that it will be a compact sedan model in the likes of the Volkswagen Jetta and Ford Focus.

Kia Loses the Right to Use Quoris Name in Europe to China's Qoros

We don't how many European or Korean, for that matter, carmakers would like to associate one of their top products with a Chinese brand, but Kia found itself in a legal battle with China's Qoros over the name of its new rear-wheel drive flagship saloon, the Quoris, and it lost - at least in Europe and for the time being.

The Korean carmaker introduced the full-size luxury sedan in its home market as the K9, but in July this year, it announced that the export version would be named Quoris, which the company claims is derived from the English words 'Core' and 'Quality'.

China's New Qoros Brand to Debut its First Car at the Geneva Motor Show

We have been following the story on the new Qoros passenger car brand since China's Chery Automobile Co. and Israeli investment firm Israel Corp. officially announced the birth of the company last November (though, the two companies had established the joint venture in December 2007) and even scooped up one of its prototype models testing in Europe this past July.

Today we learn that Qoros Auto Co. Ltd will make its public debut at next year’s Geneva Motor Show with the unveiling of the first in a series of new vehicles aimed at young buyers in both China and Europe.

The Chinese automaker's first car will be the compact four-door sedan that we spied earlier this year with Qoros stating that it will feature a design language "inspired by modern European tastes" and "interior space comparable to a larger car".

Spied: Chinese-Israeli Startup Qoros Testing New C11 Compact Sedan

If you're a devoted follower of Carscoop and at the same time have the memory of an…elephant, you may remember a report from last November when we first told you about the birth of a new brand named Qoros.

The newly formed automaker's parents are China's Chery Automobile Co. and Israeli investment firm Israel Corp. The joint-venture firm is headed by Chery official Guo Qian with former VW executive Volker Steinwascher having filled the role of vice chairman.

At the time, Steinwascher was quoted saying that the brand was employing experienced designers and engineers who had worked at companies like BMW and VW. And true enough, in December of 2011, Qoros hired Gert Hildebrand, former General Manager of Mini Design, to lead its styling division.
