StudioTorino Envision Fabulous Looking Mercedes-Benz SL Shooting Brake [w/Video]

What would a shooting brake-style coupe version of the Mercedes-Benz SL roadster look like? This is a question you no longer need to look for an answer, as Italian design house, Studiotorino, developed a project called "Coupetorino 2013", which is a concept for an SL Shooting Brake model.

A non-profit academic project at Istituto di Arte Applicata e Design (IAAD), the Coupetorino 2013 began to take shape in 2012 when six design students (Bruno Arena, Michele Bavaro, Riccardo Luigi Cascone, Stefano Manini, Dario Pellegrino and Cristiano Zanot) set out to transform the Mercedes SL into an exclusive coupe with the support of Steffen Koehl from Global Advance Design Mercedes-Benz.

Designer Gives the New 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe the Shooting Brake Treatment

In the automotive world, shooting break or shooting brake is a term used to describe a distinct and rakish estate body style, more often than not, with two passenger doors, a sloping roofline, and a tailgate, though, over the years, we've also seen four-door models like the Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake. Mercedes-Benz Officially Reveals New GLA Compact Crossover Study [49 Photos]

The star of Mercedes-Benz's Auto China 2013 in Shanghai, the new GLA Concept, was officially unveiled today, following a premature release of photos and initial information on Wednesday.

It represents Stuttgart's vision of a compact off-roader built on the underpinnings of its A-Class hatchback to compete against the BMW X1 and Audi Q3, with the company's CEO Dieter Zetsche having already confirmed that the production model will be released in a few months' time at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show in September before it goes on sale next year.

With only three days left for the grand opening of the Auto China 2013 in Shanghai this Saturday (April 20, 2013), the first official images of the Mercedes-Benz GLA compact crossover concept have made their way onto the web.

The study is fairly close to the actual production model that Mercedes will reveal at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September this year, before it goes on sale worldwide in the first half of 2014.

Atelier Valdeig Attempts to Bring the Mercedes 300 SL Roadster into the 21st Century

The W198 300 SL Gullwing and its Roadster counterpart are probably the most iconic Mercedes-Benz models ever made. They are also some the most expensive classic cars on the market today, so the simple fact of owning one is something special. Why would anyone try to “improve” on what is one of Mercedes’ most beautiful cars is a mystery to us. Read more »

All-Electric Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Inspires Cigarette AMG Electric Drive Powerboat

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive is, in itself, quite an achievement: its six electric motors endow it with 704HP (552 kW) and 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque so it can boast true supercar performance with zero CO2 emissions.

Not content with having the only all-electric supercar in the world, Mercedes-Benz and Cigarette Racing launched the world’s most powerful electrically-driven powerboat.

Scoop: New Mercedes-Benz GLA to be Shown as a Concept in Shanghai

Our spy photographers had another meeting with a black-cladded Mercedes-Benz GLA test car in Germany where they managed to snap a couple of shots of the dashboard, which appears to be very similar to that found in the CLA sedan and A-Class hatchback, something we expected since all three cars belong to the same family of models.

On an equally if not more interesting note, CarScoop reader Florian D. forwarded us a document containing Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche's speech at the company's Annual Press Conference in Stuttgart last week.

Turkish Designer Imagines a Mercedes-Benz Sub-Compact Hatch to Sit Under the A-Class

It took Mercedes-Benz two generation of models, but third time was a charm when it came to the firm's A-Class compact hatchback, which has been a wild success in Europe having secured more than 90,000 orders from September to mid-November, when Daimler last told us about the sales numbers.

Inspired by the more aggressive styling and proportions of the A-Class Mk3, Turkish industrial design Uğur Göküş took it upon himself to visualize a smaller model positioned between the Smart series and the A-Class.

Young Designer Dreams Up a Futuristic Mercedes-Benz Sports Car Concept

Ever wonder what cars of the future will look like? Sure you have, but the difference between us and transportation designers is that the latter can put their thoughts down on paper and even on actual materials.

This concept for a Mercedes-Benz sports car is the work of aspiring automobile designer Oliver Elst from Germany, who has completed internships at Opel and Mercedes-Benz.

Mercedes’ LA Show Ener-G-Force Would Make One Cool Looking G-Class

This year’s LA Auto Show Design Challenge theme was about the ultimate highway patrol vehicle of 2025. Mercedes-Benz was one of the carmakers that picked up the gauntlet and its Advanced Design Center California came up with the Ener-G-Force patrol concept.

Their work was deemed good enough to turn the “pure science fiction” Highway Patrol Vehicle into a full-size concept car. Instead of a law enforcement vehicle, though, it became a study of how the G-Wagen, a hardcore off-roader that has been with us since 1979 might evolve in the future.

Mercedes' LA Show SUV Concept Comes to Life; Says it Previews the Future for the G-Class

For this year's LA Auto Show Design Challenge, the organizers of the event asked automakers to dream up a patrol vehicle for the year 2025. Mercedes-Benz's North American arm and its Advanced Design Center California worked their magic and came up with the Ener-G-Force concept for an off-road patrol car.

Not content with the design drawings, Mercedes-Benz brought the Ener-G-Force study to life with a 1:1-scale model, albeit in civilian attire, with plans to present it to the public at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show from the end of the month.

The German carmaker makes no effort to hide the fact that the concept could preview a future design direction for its classic G-Class that has been in production since 1979, having been refined over the years.

"The Ener-G-Force is the vision of an off-roader that, while reflecting tomorrow’s adventures, also invokes the genes of the Mercedes-Benz off-road icon, the G model," explained Gorden Wagener, Director of Design at Mercedes-Benz Cars. "Modern and cool, it could also be a clue about a new beginning for the off-road design idiom of Mercedes-Benz."

Automakers Envision Highway Patrol Vehicles of 2025 for LA Show Design Challenge

Have you pondered what the world will be like in, let’s say, 2025? Predicting the future is nigh impossible but one thing’s for sure: law enforcement agencies are still going to be around in one form or another.

If things turn sour, by 2025 we might very well have a Judge Dredd-like scenario with a police state trying to maintain the law in urban jungles. If, on the other hand, all those wishes for world peace eventually come true, police officers will have a much more relaxing job.

Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing Coupe and Roadster Design Studies by Slimane Toubal

Even though it may not exactly look like it, but the contemporary Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is in fact the spiritual successor to the German firm's original 300 SL in both 'Gullwing' Coupe (built from 1954 to 1957) and Roadster (from 1957 to 1963) forms.

Slimane Toubal, a professional clay artist from France who has worked with several automakers around the world including Audi, Honda and more recently, at PSA Peugeot-Citroen's China office, used his free time to create his own vision of what a modern-day 300 SL should look like.

Mercedes-Benz Makes a Luxury Limo Out of the Viano with Vision Diamond Study

While it's no replacement for the Maybach brand that's counting its last breaths, the new Mercedes-Benz Viano Vision Diamond concept that was presented at the Auto China 2012 in Beijing, shows that even a van can be turned into a chauffeured limo with the right amount of modifications.

On the outside, a shimmering gold line painted by hand separates the two body colors of black and diamond white, while the special Viano also sports a black radiator grille with chromed louvers, bespoke alloys, a new front bumper and different headlamps.

New Mercedes-Benz CSC Officially Revealed, Features 2.0L Turbo and AWD [43 Photos + Video]

Mercedes-Benz has dropped official information and a full set of photos of its Concept Style Coupé (or CSC for short) ahead of the study's brief stint at the Avant/Garde Diaries event in Los Angeles on April 20 and its world premiere at the Auto China 2012 in Beijing on April 23.

The sleek looking sedan concept is a precursor of the production model that will follow next year and which Mercedes will build at its new manufacturing facility in Hungary. Sources state that it will likely be named CLC or CLA.

Judging by the spy shots we've shown you over the past few months, while the production model will be closely based on the concept, it won't be so aggressive in the details.

In essence, the CSC is a CLS-style four-door coupe based on the latest A-Class with which it shares an elongated version of the MFA modular platform, its running gear, interior and driveline. Some of its potential rivals in the premium market include next year's Audi A3 sedan and possibly, a similar model from BMW based on the 1-Series.

New Mercedes Concept Style Coupe Appears on Video and in a New Set of Photos

Like they say, when it leaks it pours. Only hours after the first images of the Mercedes-Benz Concept Style Coupe (CSC) landed on the web, a video as well as a new wave of pictures of the junior CLS study surfaced online.

In the same way that last year's A-Class Concept previewed the production model that was shown in Geneva this March, the CSC gives us an idea of what the four-door coupe model will look like when it arrives in the market sometime in 2013 as the CLC or CLA.

The study is based on an elongated version of the A-Class' MFA platform sharing the same running gear as the hatchback, including the 208hp (211PS) 2.0-liter boosted four-cylinder engine that drives all four wheels.

The exterior styling of the CSC is an evolution of the F800 Concept from 2010, which also inspired the design of the larger CLS. Suffice to say, the production model will sport a less aggressive shape and design details.

Mercedes-Benz Concept Style Coupe: First Photos of Sexy Looking Baby CLS Sports Sedan hit the Web

We recently reported that Mercedes-Benz will build a new compact sports sedan named either CLC or CLA at its passenger car plant in Hungary and that we'll get a preview of the baby CLS via a concept model in April.

The time has come to see the design study as the first official photographs of the Mercedes-Benz Concept Style Coupe (CSC) landed on the web today, courtesy of the Germancarforums, in advance of its world premiere at next week's Beijing Auto Show.

The CSC looks like a development of the F 800 Style Concept displayed at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show with plenty of styling elements borrowed from the newer A-Class Concept shown in New York last year.

Mercedes-Benz's new MFA platform, which debuted on the production A-Class, underpins the CSC. The German brand's Audi A3 Sedan rival reportedly measures 4,637mm (182.6 inches) long making it 46mm (1.8 inches) longer than the current C-Class sedan.
