Maserati Boss Denies Development of LaFerrari Sibling

Maserati CEO Harald Wester denied reports that the Modena-based carmaker will develop its own version of the Ferrari LaFerrari supercar.

According to an Edmunds report, at the launch of the Maserati Quattroporte V6, Wester dismissed stories about the project as unfounded, although Maserati had in the past built its own derivative of Ferrari’s Enzo, the MC12. However, the CEO confirmed that Maserati plans to offer new limited-edition models, although he did not offer further details.

Ferrari LaFerrari-Based…Maserati LaMaserati Rendered

We were intrigued when we first heard that Maserati was considering to pull an MC-12 again, and launch a car based on the flagship Ferrari model, the Geneva showstopper – LaFerrari. We were even more surprised when we learnt that it was going to ditch the complicated and heavy hybrid system, and go for a more holistic approach to building a hypercar.

Now, we can get an idea of what it may look like, with a rendering brought to us courtesy of independent designer Anton Gjorsev.

Singer Jay Kay Pays Visit to Maranello to See the New LaFerrari, Did He Actually Order One?

As an Enzo owner and a die-hard Ferrari enthusiast and collector, Grammy Award-winning English musician, and lead singer of the acid jazz band Jamiroquai, is always welcome at the carmaker’s headquarters in Maranello. Ferrari Tensostruttura is a LaFerrari Development Prototype From Two Years go

If you think the LaFerrari looks good in its production form, wait 'till you see what they were doing two years ago. The Tensostruttura concept is one of only two 1:1 scale models, built to explore the design of the then-future LaFerrari. This is merely a rolling concept, and one out of nine possible design directions for the car. Read more »

LaFerrari-Based Maserati MC12-Successor is On the Drawing Board

We remember the Maserati MC12 supercar, but it was never really popular with enthusiasts, despite being based on the advanced Ferrari Enzo. It looked like a racing car, with very long front and rear overhangs, and a big fixed wing on the back – it was probably extremely difficult to park, as well (not that it matters…).

Still, it retained the carbon construction of the Ferrari, and kept its engine, albeit detuned from 651 hp, to 620 hp. It was extremely fast, but just a little bit slower than the Enzo.

Lamborghini Veneno and Ferrari LaFerrari get the Mini-Me Cute Treatment

If Carscoops readers' opinions are anything to go by, then the Ferrari LaFerrari is the sexiest new supercar of the Geneva Motor Show having amassed 52 percent of the votes in our poll (at the time we wrote this post) compared to 16 percent for the Lamborghini Veneno and 24 percent for the McLaren P1, while 6 percent disliked all three models. Geneva Show Hypercar Poll: Ferrari LaFerrari vs. Lamborghini Veneno vs. McLaren P1

In a few years’ time, the 2013 Geneva Motor Show will be remembered as the venue in which a new breed of supercar was introduced to the world: the hybrid with more than 900HP and emissions less than a conventional one with, say, less than half the firepower.

Both Ferrari and McLaren chose the Swiss event to unveil their new hypercars. Since the latter was practically identical to last year’s concept while the Italians kept their cards close to their chest, the prancing horse premiere was the most eagerly awaited.

Study Shows VW Golf, LaFerrari Share Online Media Attention in Geneva

Auto shows generate a lot of online buzz, especially when important new cars are launched. One would expect that at least one of the supercars unveiled this year in Geneva received the most media attention, with Ferrari’s LaFerrari being the main candidate. However, reality is little bit more complicated than that.

According to a study from media monitoring firm Kantar Media, the car that swept journalists off their feet at the Geneva show was none other than the mundane Volkswagen Golf!

LaColors! Who Said the New LaFerrari has to be in Red Only?

Sure, we normally associate all Ferraris with their trademark red color, called "Rosso Corsa", but buyers nowadays have a multitude of different finishes to choose from.

Aside from the basic palette of colors, Ferrari will pretty much paint your car in any shade of your choosing, provided you come up with the cash (isn't that the case always?). It was only natural, then, that they reveal all their all-new cars finished in Rosso Corsa - it's a matter of tradition.

Allow Us to Introduce You to Ferrari LaFerrari [Photo Gallery & Videos]

Rarely have we seen so much hype build around an upcoming car. After countless speculative renderings and teasers, guesses regarding its technical specifications and its name, it's finally here –LaFerrari, the "Enzo successor", which has just made its debut in Geneva. That basically means "the Ferrari" so with a name like that you expect it to be great.

You also expect it to have a high-revving V12 engine, which it does, as well as a much talked-about electric motor to provide an extra bit of shove and prove that Ferrari cares about the environment – this car is a hybrid, which features a HY-KERS system (Kinetic Energy Recovery System), charging the batteries (which we'll get to later on) through regenerative braking or by using the engine.
