Subaru Recalling Cars for Curling Mats, Nissan for Spare Tire Inflation and Honda Over ESC

In its latest release, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has shared detailed information on three separate and unrelated recalls from the same number of carmakers.

We'll begin with Subaru, which is recalling 10,137 Forester SUVs made from January 2013 through March 2013 over an issue with the carpeted floor mats that may curl when exposed to heat. This can be a problem when it occurs with the driver-side floor mat as it can interfere with the "proper operation of one or a combination of, the vehicle's clutch, brake, and accelerator pedals". A similar issue had plagued Toyota causing one of the widely publicized sudden acceleration-related recalls.

First Drive in NZ: All-New Subaru Forester High On Refinement, Space

Just been driving the new Forester XT turbo in New Zealand, and it's the first Subaru Turbo I've driven with a CVT.

I had mixed feelings about how that transmission would work with the turbo, but I guess that the fact that Subaru's new third generation Lineartronic is going to be used with its new range of European market turbodiesels in both the Outback and Forester later in the year means that it will take the torque.

I noticed no disconcerting flare - often a bugbear with CVTs and more powerful engines - and loved the way the car stepped smoothly off the line, settling into low-revving cruise mode for town and around work, and open-road driving very decorously.

Well-chosen gearing allows the Forester to surf along on its low to mid-revolution biased torque curve, which will allow pretty useful economy in normal running, while the surge of energy on tap when you mash the throttle is very pleasing. With a rise in engine pitch, the Forester XT quickly catches up with itself in that distinctive CVT way, and dispatched overtaking maneuvers with great aplomb.

Euro NCAP Find that Dacia Lodgy Dissapoints while 14 Other New Cars Score Five Stars

The safety gurus at the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP), an independent organization that assesses and scores vehicle safety, have released a new round of scores for 15 new models, many of which were presented at the recent Paris Motor Show.

With one exception, the new Dacia Lodgy minivan that Euro NCAP said "budgets on safety" as it was rated with a mediocre three stars out of five, all other cars tested were awarded five stars.

Euro NCAP criticized the Renault Group's decision to not offer the electronic stability control (ESC) as standard equipment on the Lodgy, while also noting that the Dacia model scored poorly for pedestrian and child protection.

Watch the All-New Subaru Forester Crossover in Motion

You should know by now that most new car introductions are accompanied by video footage to show them in action, and the just-launched Subaru Forester is no exception to that rule.

2014 Subaru Forester in 180 Photos, Including the First of the Interior

At the end of the month, we will have the opportunity to see the next generation of the Subaru Forester in the flesh during its world premiere at the 2012 Los Angeles Autos Show, but in the meantime, we have a ton of new and high-resolution photos of the Japanese Domestic Market model (JDM) to share with you.

The cosmetic differences between the JDM Forester and the international market model will be limited to some minor details, so what you see here, is what you will get when the crossover hits showrooms towards the end of the year or early 2013, depending on the country.

The gallery includes the first official photos of the interior with the dashboard being an almost exact copy of that found in the latest Impreza and XV models, minus some trim upgrades such as the aluminum finishes on the lower part of the center console.

2014 Subaru Forester Officially Revealed, will Debut at the LA Auto Show, Offer 2.0L Turbo in America

Here comes the 2014 Subaru Forester, and this time, it's official as the Japanese carmaker released the first photos and details simultaneously in North America and its home market of Japan.

This is the fourth generation of the Forester since the model's debut in 1997 and as we've seen from previous pictures of the car, it doesn't stray too far away from the design of the current model. In fact, we wouldn't be surprised if an untrained eye had a hard time telling the two apart…

Spied: 2014 Subaru Forester XT with 2.0L Turbo Shows its Face in Japan

For the most part, the next Subaru Forester is a secret no more after the crossover model's details leaked through a Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) brochure and the car itself was photographed at what we assume to be the brand's factory parking lot in Japan.

But it's not over just yet, as the new Forester, which will likely be sold as a 2014 model in North America, has been spotted again in its home market on three different occasions, providing us a fresh look on the car.

Now, you may have noticed that these three Foresters (two examples in white and the other in silver), look slightly different from the one featured in the opening image of our previous article posted earlier this month.

Scoop: All-New 2014 Subaru Forester Busted Out in the Open!

While Subaru was uploading a shadowy teaser of the next iteration of the Forester on its Japanese website, and not too long after we shared scans from the car's Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) brochure, the first real-life images of the compact crossover hit the net.

It’s not hard to see that Subaru didn't want to alienate buyers of one of its most popular global models when it came to design, as the new Forester looks like a more modern, or evolutionary, if you prefer, interpretation of the current model.

Besides the more forceful face incorporating Subaru's latest grille design, the high-riding, station wagon gains some new styling cues, the most notable of which concern the more prominent wheel arches and heavily sculpted door sills, the addition of a small quarter window up front and new door mounted mirrors.

This is the New 2014 Subaru Forester Compact SUV!

It may have escaped from our scoop photographers' radar, but we finally caught up with the next iteration of Subaru's Forester compact SUV, which in its three previous generations, has built a name for itself as a robust and no-nonsense model that rides well both on and off the road.

These pictures are sourced from the new Forester's Japanese market brochure, but most of what you see here sans the engine range can be applied to the global model.

The new Forester, which will go on sale in Japan in mid-November before it reaches both North American (as a 2014 model) and European shores as a 2013 model) next year, is likely based on a revised version of the latest Impreza's platform.

Compared to the current Forester, Subaru's best-seller has grown all around and now measures 4,595mm or 180.9 inches long (+35mm), 1,795mm or 70.7 inches tall (+15mm) and 1,695mm or 66.7 inches wide (+20mm). The wheelbase is also longer at 2,640mm or 103.9 inches (+25mm) to improve space for passengers.

Subaru Wagon Sandwiched Between San Francisco MUNI Bus and Trolley Car

Video footage sourced from a security camera located on a building that recently surfaced online has shed some light to an accident that took place in downtown San Francisco on August 3, 2012.

The recording shows a white crossover identified as a "Subaru Wagon" (likely a Forester) entering the inner lane of the road and slowing down behind a trolley car that had stopped for a red light when a MUNI bus came crashing from behind literally sandwiching the Japanese model.
