Porsche Builds 500,000th Cayenne at the Leipzig Plant

Porsche today celebrated the production of the 500,000th Cayenne SUV at the Leipzig plant in Germany. The milestone comes after 11 years of production, with the first Porsche Cayenne rolling off the assembly line in 2002.

“We started with around 70 units a day. Today we produce five times as much owing to the high market demand. In the past year alone, over 83,000 Cayenne vehicles for customers in more than 125 countries have rolled off the assembly line. A genuine success story of the Porsche plant in Saxony,” said Oliver Blume, Porsche Member of the Executive Board Production and Logistics.

Prior Design's New Porsche Cayenne Widebody Kit for €8,900

Adding to the many existing styling packages that are widely available for the second generation of the Porsche Cayenne, is a new widebody aerodynamic kit from German tuning brand Prior Design.

The parts that come with the package are pretty much standard and include a reworked front bumper that gains extra LED lights along with a different grille piece and which connects to the swollen front wheel arches.

Spy Shots: Porsche Brings 2015 Cayenne Out for a Walk Again

If you want to stay on top of your game in the auto industry these days, you need to keep your products fresh and relevant. For the fairly new second generation Porsche Cayenne that's only been on the market since mid-2010, this means a light mid-cycle refresh to keep it up to date for the next few years until the release of a third generation model sometime in 2018.

This isn't the first time we've shared scoop shots of a prototype of the facelifted 2015 Cayenne, and to be frank, there's nothing new to add as it looks like the same tester with the same set of fake lights and black masking tape to cover some of the new design details on the front and the rear ends of the SUV as before.

Porsche Cayenne Driver Hits Car and Continues Like Nothing Happened

Needless to say, no one should ever leave the scene of an accident unless, of course, it's a matter of life or death - for example, we can't blame this Los Angeles woman for leaving.

The actions of this particular driver in the Porsche Cayenne are inexcusable. Not only does he (or she) enter the opposite lane of a double line road placing many motorists in danger, but the driver also crashes into a black sedan (possibly a Lada) to make room and then stomps on the gas pedal and drives away!

Porsche Delivers 15,000 "Sports Cars" in May, 5,800 of Which Were 911s, Boxsters and Caymans

Porsche announced on Thursday that it delivered 15,020 vehicles globally last month, 13 percent more than in the same month last year. This brings the total number of sales for the first five months of the year to 67,261 – up 19 percent compared to January – May 2012.

What’s interesting is that Porsche’s release says deliveries reached 15,000 sports cars in May, which in my view, is a clear abuse of the term "sports car". A closer look reveals that a little over a third of these vehicles were from the 911 and Boxster/Cayman ranges, with the rest comprised of Cayenne SUVs and Panamera saloons (or liftbacks, to be precise).

EVO Pits Porsche Cayenne Turbo S Against the…Caterham 7 Supersport

What could a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S possibly have in common with a Caterham 7 Supersport to justify a comparison test? Well, they both have four wheels, a steering wheel and live on gasoline fuel, but other than that, they're completely different animals. And it is their differences, rather than their similarities, that make this test from EVO magazine all the more interesting.

The Porsche Cayenne Turbo S is a big and hefty SUV – it's 4,846mm (about 191 inches) long and weighs 2,215kg (4,883 pounds) with power coming from a bi-turbocharged 4.8-liter V8 churning out 542-horses (550PS) and 750Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque.

Scoop: 2015 Porsche Cayenne Facelift Pictured for the First Time

As it turns out, the Panamera is not the only Porsche model that's been on the market longer than the new 911 that's being prepped for a facelift. Shortly after Stuttgart made the 2014 Panamera official today, our spies sent these shots of a very lightly camouflaged Cayenne prototype with some mild cosmetic tweaks. Read more »

Porsche’s New 543HP Cayenne Turbo S Storms into the Detroit Motor Show

An SUV that can mix it up with supercars, at least in a straight line is not exactly a novel idea. Nevertheless, as supercars get more powerful, so must said über-SUVs if they want to keep up.

Enter Porsche’s world and the new Cayenne Turbo S. The flagship version of Stuttgart’s luxury crossover that makes its world debut at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show packs an impressive 543HP (550PS) and 750Nm (553 lb-ft) under its bonnet thanks to the reworked twin-turbocharged 4.8-liter V8 – that’s 49HP (50PS) and 50Nm (37 lb-ft) more than the “regular” Turbo.

You Won’t Believe Why Porsche Headlight Thefts Surge in Amsterdam

While pot smokers can puff a sigh of relief after Amsterdam's mayor stated that cannabis cafés will remain open for business with foreign visitors, despite a new Dutch law designed to reduce drug tourism, Porsche car owners in the city won't be sharing the same sentiment.

Only in the past week, some 20 owners of Porsche Panamera sedans and Cayenne SUVs in Amsterdam had their vehicles' headlamps stolen.

If you are wondering why the sudden surge in Porsche headlight thefts, the answer will leave you stunned: Amsterdam Police suspect that the thieves are using the Porsche Xenon headlamps for use as grow lights for marijuana!

Ever since its inception, the Porsche Cayenne SUV has always been a favorite among tuners that try to address owners' needs for more power and personalized styling.

While UK-based Kahn Design's newest package for the Porsche Cayenne 3.0-liter V6 Diesel doesn't offer any solutions to improve the luxury SUV's performance, it does provide answers to the cosmetic part of the equation.

Porsche Cayenne Driver Thinks he has a Real 4x4 and Tries to Speed Through the Water…

We will admit that the Porsche Cayenne is pretty good at a lot of things but a real, capable off-roader or "4x4" it is not.

Nevertheless, we believe that even the Cayenne could have navigated through this flooded underpass if the driver had taken a more cautious approach entering at a low speed instead of slamming the pedal to the metal disturbing the water in front of him.

First Photos of New Range Topping Porsche Cayenne Turbo S with 542-Horses

Another day, another new edition from Porsche, with the Stuttgart-based sportscar maker now presenting a new flagship model for its Cayenne series in the guise of the Turbo S.

Much like the Panamera Turbo S, with which it shares the same twin turbocharged V8 engine, the Cayenne Turbo S comes with more grunt under the hood and some bespoke styling cues that attempt to separate it from the regular Turbo model.

After Porsche engineers fitted titanium-aluminium turbine wheels to the turbochargers and reprogrammed the engine control management, the 4.8-liter gasoline unit gains an extra 49hp (50PS) and 50Nm (37 lb-ft) pushing output to 542hp (550PS) and peak torque to 750Nm (553 lb-ft).

As a result of these upgrades, the Cayenne Turbo S completes the standard 0-100km/h (62mph) sprint 0.2 seconds faster than the standard Turbo model at 4.5 seconds and has a 5km/h (3mph) higher top speed at 283km/h (176mph).

You May Want to Slow Down Next Time…

If you are going to speed on a road that you shouldn't in the first place, you ought to at least pay twice the attention to things like, oh say, vehicles that are in front of you and stop lights.

That's a lesson learned the hard way by the motorcyclist featured here and who imprinted his helmet on the rear window of a Porsche Cayenne in Russia.

Porsche Recalling Panamera and Cayenne Over Fears that Turbochargers May Break

A number of Porsche Panamera sedan and Cayenne SUV Turbo models made it to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) recall list because the turbine wheel of the turbocharger in those vehicles may fracture due to a casting defect.

"If the shaft fractures, oil may be drawn into the exhaust system, resulting in smoke and the increased risk of a fire," the safety agency said.
