Have $19k to Spare? Restored 1983 Audi Ur-Quattro Looking for New Home


Back in the days when most people knew "Quattro" only as the Italian word for "four", Audi presented a car that would shape the carmaker itself as well as the industry as a whole: the Audi Quattro Coupe that debuted in 1980 at the Geneva Motor Show.

Now known as the Ur-Quattro, with Ur roughly translating as "first of its kind" or "the origin" from German, the all-wheel drive sports car that led to the insanity that was the Group B Audi Sport Quattro S1 was produced from 1980 through 1991 (though, U.S. deliveries stopped in 1986).

Audi A1 Quattro Versus the Original Ur-Quattro from 1989


The original Ur-Quattro from the 1980s is the quintessential Audi that defined the brand with the four-ring logo, both on the track and on the showroom floors. While it’s a completely different world today, some things remain the same for Audi, including its love for all-wheel drive sports cars.

Audi says the spirit and soul of the Ur-Quattro lives on many of its modern-day creations, such as the limited-run A1 Quattro, of which only 333 examples were produced.

A Fresh Design Take on the Audi Quattro Coupe


Much to the dismay of Audi's fans, the European financial crisis and Ingolstadt's growing interest in the SUV and crossover segments reportedly nixed any chances that the brand with the four rings would produce the Quattro Concept, originally presented at the 2010 Paris Auto Show.

Nevertheless, a Belorussian designer named Serikk wanted to share his own vision of what the Audi Ur-Quattro of the 21st century would look like with a set of conceptual drawings, inspired from both the street-legal and the awesome Sport Quattro B-Group rally cars of the 1980s.

Audi Reportedly Kills Quattro Sports Car in Favor of an Evoque-like Coupe Crossover


Audi's automobiles have long been praised for their immaculate interior quality and ultra-safe road manners, but they have also been labeled as too clinical.

The R8 supercar changed all that mixing everyday usability with supercar-like performance and entertaining driving dynamics, but it is far too expensive for most buyers.

Having celebrated the original Quattro rally car’s 30th anniversary at the 2010 Paris Auto Show with the Quattro Concept, Audi fans hoped that a production version of the prototype would eventually hit the streets.
