New Mercedes S-Class Coupe May Keep CL Nameplate, will Premiere in Frankfurt as a Study

The recently revealed 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class will have more versions than ever, with a coupe and convertible to be added to the lineup in 2014. While it has been widely believed that the two-door model will be called the S-Class Coupe, the big luxury coupe may keep its CL name after all, just like its previous generations.

This assumption is based on a set of spy photos published by German magazine Auto Motor und Sport where a tag linked to a prototype’s keys shows the name CL 127, with 127 being the internal code for the new CL.

Revamped Aston Martin DB9 Faces Mercedes Benz CL65 AMG in Latest Head2Head

Let’s say that you have US$200,000 to spend on a car and, for some reason, you don’t want to buy a Ferrari or a Porsche but something more practical to drive every day. Fret not because there are other options out there and they’re not bad at all.

The Aston Martin DB9 is the oldest model in the British company’s line-up, having been around since 2004. For the 2013MY it received a substantial revamp, though, with the 5.9-liter V12 being pumped up to 510HP and the chassis and suspension receiving parts from the new Vanquish and the (now defunct) DBS and Virage.

Man Accuses NYPD of Taking his Mercedes-Benz for a Joy Ride While he Was in Jail

Receiving a ticket for running a red light is nothing new - unless, that is, you were in jail and the police had impounded your car at the time, which is the case of 25-year old Rashad Lewis from Queens, New York.

Lewis' story started on Friday, August 3, when the 25-year old junior at Berkeley College was pulled over for a traffic violation while driving his luxury Mercedes-Benz CL coupe in New York City.

AMG Taking Hold of All Future Daimler V12 Engine Development

According to a new report from Autoweek, the future of the V12 engine under the Daimler nameplate will be left in the hands of Mercedes-Benz's in-house tuner AMG.

No intelligent system in the world can help a foolish driver without a drop of common sense to avoid getting into an accident.

A too fast, too furious motorist behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz CL went on to unleash some of the many ponies hiding under the hood of the German coupe on a fairly tight city road and overtake a car in front of him.

Mechatronik's $400k 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SE 3.5 vs. 2012 CL63 AMG

When it comes to big luxury coupes, Mercedes-Benz was and remains one of the top choices in this high-end segment. But how much have things changed from, let's say, the 1970s to today?

This is something Car&Driver magazine set to find out by comparing a Mercedes-Benz 280SE 3.5 against a modern-day CL63 AMG.

However, just to make the duel a bit more interesting (that or C&D couldn’t find a pristine example of a stock model...), the publication borrowed a Mechatronic M-Coupe, which is a $400,000 fully-restored 1971 280SE 3.5 fitted with a more modern Mercedes 5.4-liter V8 producing 354hp and a tweaked suspension.
