The Ultimate Barn Find: Chevrolet Dealership Is Unearthed Decades After It Was Locked Up

This has to be one of the most improbable barn find in years: a former Chevrolet dealership from Nebraska that had been locked for decades has been opened so that employees of an auction company could assess the inventory.

Their surprise couldn’t have been greater: among the 500 vehicles that formed Lambrecht Chevrolet’s inventory were 50 “brand new” cars, such as a 1956 Chevrolet Cameo pickup truck with only 1 mile on the odometer, a 1964 Chevrolet Impala with 4 miles, a 1978 Corvette with 4 miles, a 1960s Chevrolet Corvair with 17 miles and many more.

All these cars still have their window stickers and plastic on the seats, so there’s a good chance they will regain their brand new look once the dust is removed and a mechanical check is done (provided that rust hasn’t crept into the bodywork).

Consumer Reports Gives Praise to Chevrolet for its 2014 Impala Sedan

I'm going to say that Consumer Reports is right when it states that the previous-generation Chevrolet Impala, built between 2006 and 2013 was a very bland car (visually), and that the 2014 model is a huge improvement in the image department.

Having tested the car, the publication remarks that it is not only more interesting to look at, but also drives and rides much better. They are keen to point out that it is considerably more comfortable than its direct rival from Toyota, the Avalon sedan.

Chevy Takes Us Back to 1960 with New Impala Ad

Automakers these days don't only sell you a car, they also sell you a lifestyle. You see this in the way they market each car, and what they choose to show in their promotional campaigns. For Chevy's new Impala sedan, you are taken back to the 1960s, when people used considerably warmer filters on their cameras. Read more »

On the same day that American consumers are either chilling out after Thanksgiving day or…lining up outside stores for exclusive Black Friday deals, GM's Chevrolet brand released pricing for its all-new, 2014 Impala full-size sedan, several months before it goes on sale next spring.

GM said that the 3.6L version will be the first to hit showrooms next spring, with a starting price of $30,760 for the LT and $36,580 for the LTZ, including destination charges.

GM Bids Farewell to the Three Across Front Bench Seat with the Chevrolet Impala [w/Video]

The current Chevrolet Impala is the last passenger car still in production in North America to offer a front bench with three-across seating. This will end soon since the brand-new 2014 model year Impala won’t be available with this option.

The front bench was abandoned by almost every carmaker a long time ago. Even the bow-tie brand itself admitted that it was far from popular with Impala buyers, as only one out of 10 ticked the box for this low-cost (US$195) option on the LS and LT trim levels.

GM Recalls More than 38,000 Chevy Impala Police Cruisers in the U.S. and Canada

The Chevrolet Impala in police trim from the 2008 to 2012 model years is the latest target of a recall effort from General Motors.

In a filing to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), GM said that the front lower control arms in the suspension might fracture resulting in the loss of control of the vehicle, thus increasing the risk of a crash.

Unmarked NYPD Police Car Chases and Pulls Over Bicyclist

We are not saying that police officers shouldn't pull over a bicyclist if the rider breaks the law, but it's really not that often that we see it happening, even more so on film.

According to the YouTube poster, the bicyclist ran through a red light at the intersection of 6th Avenue and West Houston Street and was caught by an unmarked New York Police Department Chevy Impala sedan.

The bicyclist is said to have received a US$270 (€208) fine. Head past the break to watch the video.

GM's Spark-o-Graphic Compares America's 1970's Sedans with Today's Small Cars

Back in the 1960s and even more so in the first half of the 1970s, American automakers produced some of the largest mainstream cars ever, before the oil crisis put an end to these dinosaurs of the automobile industry.

General Motors, of course, was no exception. One example is the fifth generation of the Chevrolet Impala that measured a whopping 222.0 inches (5,639 mm) long.

On the occasion of the U.S. launch of its new 2013 Chevrolet Spark, the Detroit carmaker released an info graphic comparing the city car with the average American sedan in the early 1970s.

Chevrolet Execs Talk us Through the new 2014 Impala Sedan

It’s going to be a while before the 2014 Chevrolet Impala sedan hits showrooms in North America, close to a year to be exact, so General Motors will no doubt try to find various ways to keep consumer interest high in the coming months.

For now, the Detroit automaker has prepared a short video with Jon Hahn, Impala Marketing Manager, and Russ Clark, Marketing Director for Chevrolet Performance and Mid-Size Vehicles, highlighting certain aspects of the exterior design and the interior technology found on the 10th generation Impala, as well as a second clip with the Impala's exterior and interior designers.

Poll: Which is the Best Looking New Sedan of the New York Auto Show?

If you've been following our coverage of the 2012 New York Auto Show, you will no doubt have noticed that a significant number of automakers revealed brand new sedan offerings.

In the full-size category, we have the near-premium 2013 Acura RLX, which is somewhat misleadingly labeled as a concept study, and the mainstream 2014 Chevrolet Impala.

The mid-size segment is represented by the Fisker Atlantic showcar, which like the RLX, is more or less production ready, the 2013 Lexus ES, the 2013 Lincoln MKZ, the 2013 Nissan Altima and the 2013 Toyota Avalon, which has been re-categorized as a mid-size model.

All-New 2014 Chevrolet Impala Leaps into the New York Auto Show

As expected, Chevrolet has pulled the wraps off its brand-new 2014 Impala sedan just hours before it makes its world premiere at the New York Auto Show. The 10th generation of Chevy’s full-size sedan carries over no parts whatsoever from the car it replaces.

It is based on a enlarged version of GM’s Epsilon II platform that also underpins the Cadillac XTS and features a McPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension and electrically-powered steering with variable assistance.

The all-new Impala sedan measures 201.3 inches (5,115 mm) long, 73 inches (1,854 mm) wide and 58.9 inches (1,496 mm) tall, and has a wheelbase of 111.7 inches (2.837 mm).

Buyers will be able to choose between a pair of four-cylinder engines and a larger displacement V6, all of which feature direct injection and are combined with six-speed automatic transmissions that send power to the front wheels.

The fours are a new 2.5-liter with 195HP and 187 lb-ft (253 Nm) of torque and a 182HP 2.4-liter unit with the eAssist “mini hybrid” system that boosts fuel economy. Topping the engine line-up is a 3.6-liter V6 with 303HP and 264 lb-ft (358Nm) of torque.

Chevrolet Pays Tribute to Impala's Signature Leaping African Antelope Emblem

In a little over 24-hours from now, the New York Auto Show will host the world debut of the new generation Chevrolet Impala that goes on sale in North America early next year as a 2014 model.

As a brand new model that has been developed from the ground up, there's a lot to discuss about the new Impala, but for the time being, GM wants to focus our attention on the full-size sedan's new leaping African antelope emblem, for which it was named after.
