Lawyer and Retired Cop in Ties Get Into a Road Rage Fight in LA

While a fight is never a funny thing, you'll forgive us for chuckling at the sight of two dressed-up Los Angeles men in their silver-hair years trying to throw punches at each other, but at the same time, needing help to get up from the road...

YouTube author Jessica Breuer captured the road-rage fight on film. This is what she wrote about the incident: "Two men in ties fighting in the street. The guy with the short hair flew out of his car and started beating the crap out of the other guy."

BMW has made the 5-Series more appealing with important additions to the European range – two at the very top, along with an entry level model, the 518d, which “minimizes buying and operating costs.” The first two are the M5 and M6, fitted with the new Competition Package, which ups the power to 567 hp (575 PS) and “also adds Sport suspension settings, Sport steering, Sport exhaust with Black Chrome exhaust tailpipes and exclusive 20-inch Double-spoke M light-alloy wheels.” Read more »

BMW Presents Facelifted 2014 5-Series Sedan, Touring and GT Models [203 Photos & Video]

The first two things we're going to tell you about the refreshed BMW 5-Series range that was revealed on Saturday is that, a) you will have to pay very close attention to the car to tell the styling differences over the outgoing model, and b) no, the Gran Turismo did not get any prettier.

What the very light exterior redesign brought to the 5-Series range is a new front bumper with matte silver accents, additional contour lines for the surround of the kidney grille, an extra crease in the apron, a silver strip on the boot / tailgate edge at the rear for the saloon and Touring, new headlamp fixtures with straight top and bottom surfaces, and tweaked tail lamp graphics.

BMW Turns Back the History Dial to the 5-Series E34

In the latest episode of BMW's flashback video series, the Bavarian carmaker talks about the third generation 5-Series, known internally under its E34 codename.

The E34 5-Series was the last production BMW to feature the old-school, uncovered dual headlamps, though, it was also the first 5er to do away with the slanted shark face, with its design, both inside and out, clearly inspired by the E32 7-Series. In fact, at the time, many described the car as a junior 7-Series. In another first for the series, the E34 was available in two body styles, sedan and station wagon (Touring).

Travelling Back in Time: My Visit at the BMW Museum in Munich

For a car enthusiast, a trip to Munich is unconceivable without a stop at the BMW Museum. Its permanent exhibition hosts more than 120 automobiles, motorcycles and engines spanning nine decades of BMW brand history.

For €9, which is equal to US$11.75, I had the chance to travel back in time and see how the BMW legend was born and developed into what is now the world’s largest premium car manufacturer. This is not going to be an exhaustive presentation of my trip, however, as visiting an automobile museum is mostly a subjective experience, so I will only talk about the cars that impressed me the most.

Scoop: BMW Gives 2014 M5 Sedan a Light Nip and Tuck

BMW is not known for making shattering updates when it comes to mid-cycle facelifts, and this surely applies to the upcoming 2014 5-Series range, including the sedan, Touring, Gran Turismo, prototypes of which have already been spotted, as well as the M5 performance sedan that our spies captured resting outside the Nürburgring circuit in Germany. The marketing division of BMW Japan is looking for select buyers, 300 of them, to be precise, for a new special edition version of its 5-Series sedan and Touring (station wagon) models dubbed "Exclusive Sport", which are offered with a choice of two four-cylinder engines, a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol for the 523i and a 2.0-liter force-fed diesel for the 523d. Spy Shots: BMW Puts 5-Series Gran Turismo Under the Knife

There's so much you can do to improve the looks of a car like the 5-Series Gran Turismo (GT), and judging by these latest spy photos, BMW isn't really in the mood for any extensive modifications for the car's mid-life update.

Instead, the exterior refresh simply tweaks the front and rear bumpers along with the respective light clusters, and possibly the grille, bringing all these elements in line with BMW's more recent presentations like the F30 3-Series and the F20 1-Series. Understandably, the same will apply to the rest of the 5-Series range, the sedan and Touring models.

Turn Your Brilliance into a BMW and Your BYD Into a Lexus for as Low As $63 with Chinese Kits

Chinese carmakers cloning parts or even entire vehicles from Western companies, is nothing new or surprising, though, we will admit to raising an eyebrow when we saw joint-venture partners of European brands blatantly copying their business companion's designs, as was the case with Brilliance and the very BMW X1-like V5 SUV, and BAIC's call-me-maybe Mercedes-Benz B-Class lookalike, the "BC301Z".

Taking advantage of lax copyright laws and a system that turns a blind eye as long as these companies keep up appearances (pun intended) by avoiding the use of names and logos on their vehicles, many Chinese carmakers have managed to get away with it.

Spied: BMW Testing Plug-in Hybrid Version of the 5-Series Sedan

We are already aware that BMW has begun work on a subtle facelift for the current 5-Series sedan (codenamed F10), Touring (F11) and Gran Turismo (F07) models, all of which should arrive in the market next year as part of the brand's four-year life cycle. Read more »

Vilner's Stylish Tale of Two Customized BMW Models

A BMW 5-Series sedan (F10) and a 6-Series Coupe with an M Package (F12) are the two latest cars to fall into the hands of Bulgarian design studio Vilner, which afforded them a similar makeover beginning with their exterior that is covered in a matte white foil wrap accented by black spoilers and darkened tail lamp clusters. BMW Driver Discovers that You Cant's go Too Far with a Clamper on Your Wheel…

No one likes to see their car clamped down, regardless if they deserve it or not, but once it happens, the only other thing you can really do besides paying the ticket is to complain about it.

Well, at least these are the options for someone rational, because you could always defy logic and attempt something stupid like drive away with one of your wheels locked in the clamp, which is precisely what an elderly man from Dublin, Ireland, tried to do in a BMW 5-Series Touring (E39).

Scoop: BMW 5-Series GT to get a Makeover, but Don't Except Miracles…

The only other BMW vehicle we can think of that has received so much flack for its looks as the 5-Series Gran Turismo or GT for short, is the Chris Bangle-era 7-Series E65 (codenamed E66 for the LWB variants).

And from the looks of things, we somehow don't think this will change with the mid-life facelift BMW is preparing for the 5-Series GT and which will incorporate a similar suite of subtle styling and possibly mechanical upgrades to the rest of the 2014 model 5-Series sedan and Touring variants.

New videos shot during the cataclysmic Hurricane and then Post-Tropical Storm Sandy that unleashed it power on the Mid-Atlantic and New England Coasts this week are constantly popping up on the web.

In this clip filmed by a one "Gianni F", who along with his friend, was navigating through the flooded roads of Bayville, New York, captured several drivers including one in a Bentley Continental GTC Convertible and another in a BMW 5-Series sedan playing with their expensive wheel's fate and…insurance premiums.

Spied: BMW Takes 2014 5-Series Sedan Out for a Ride in the Open

After the recent sighting of the revamped 2014 BMW 5-Series Touring, we knew that it was only a matter of time before our scoop photographers caught on to a prototype of the four-door sedan model.

Naturally, the subtle mid-life makeover will bring the same styling updates to both body-styles.

Even though these early prototypes may not be telling us the whole truth, we suspect that BMW designers will make some subtle styling revisions to the 5-Series' headlamps, the double kidney grille, the rear light clusters and the bumpers.

Spy Shots: BMW Preparing 5-Series for its First Facelift

It seems like yesterday that BMW debuted the sixth generation of the 5-Series, but it's actually been three years since the launch of the sedan model that was followed in 2010 by the presentation of the more spacious and practical Touring variant.

BMW's three to four year facelift cycle means that the 5-Series is approaching this stage; hence, the appearance of the first prototype models on the road.

A Flashback to BMW's Short Film Series "The Hire", Which One is Your Favorite?

In 2001, BMW launched a hugely successful campaign called "The Hire", which was a series of eight short films, each roughly eight to ten minutes long.

The movies were directed by established filmmakers like Ang Lee and the late John Frankenheimer, with actor Clive Owen taking on the role of the "Driver" who was hired by a different person in each movie to transport important people in a number of BMW cars.

While over a decade old now, BMW's film series remains wonderfully entertaining to this day.
