Renault Releases UK Pricing Information for Refreshed Scenic and Scenic XMOD

Renault’s popular Scenic (4.3 million sold in total since 1996 introduction), which has been recently refreshed, has just received its official pricing information for the UK market where it retails from £17,955.

Strangely, the cheapest model in the range is the newly-introduced XMOD, which is perfect for those buyers unsure if they want a crossover or an MPV, because it slots somewhere between the two.

Renault Confirms New Versions of the Laguna, Espace and Scenic

While PSA is announcing the closing of one factory after the other, local rivals Renault are doing nothing of the sort. In fact, Renault announced that it will be investing €420 ($542) million for the preparation of the Douai factory, in France, for the production of no fewer than five different cars at the same time. Three of them have been announced for 2014: the all-new Laguna, Espace and Scenic. Read more »

Facelifted Renault Scenic and Grand Scenic Gain New Limited Edition

Not that automakers really need any specific excuse to release a special edition model of an existing car, but we gather that they find it more appropriate to give a reason when they do, regardless if it makes any sense…

Here's Renault's excuse for the launch of its new "Limited limited edition" (no seriously, that's how the French carmaker worded it) version of its recently updated compact minivans: "To celebrate the advent of spring, Renault has released ‘Limited’ limited-edition versions of New Renault Scénic and New 7-Seat Grand Scénic."

Hyundai i10 Almost Makes a Perfect Triple Somersault in Kiev

Not paying attention to the road and what's going on in front of your car can be hazardous for your health. You know it, I know it, everyone knows it, yet some drivers insist on being completely careless.

In this video shot in Kiev, Ukraine, we see drivers slowing down and moving towards the left lane once they detect a stopped truck loaded with cars that appears to have been involved in an accident with a passenger model. Actually, every car except one red hatch, the driver of which speeds on and tries to overtake a Renault Scenic 4x4 and crosses into the other lane.

Renault Scenic and Grand Scenic MPVs Receive Second Facelift in a Year

It has only been a year (and a couple of weeks, to be precise) since Renault updated the Scenic and its longer-wheelbase Grand Scenic sibling last January, but the French carmaker took the opportunity of the unveiling of the new Scenic XMOD to apply another refresh to its minivan series. Renault's New Crossover-Inspired Scenic XMOD

We first saw it testing last December and now, Renault has lifted the covers off a tall-riding version of its Scenic minivan with crossover styling cues named the XMOD, which will make its world premiere at next month's Geneva Motor Show.

While the XMOD rounds out the Scenic lineup in most markets around Europe, in the UK, it will replace the regular Scenic, as Renault continues to wind down its offerings in the country after axing the Modus, Kangoo, Wind, Laguna, Espace and Gordini models.

Spied: First Renault Test Mule for a New Compact SUV

True, what you see in these fresh spy photos from Europe may look like a Renault Grand Scenic at first, but pay closer attention and you will see some substantial modifications such as the shorter rear overhang, the larger wheels mounted on wider tracks on both ends, and an increased ride height.

In addition, Renault engineers have also added weights on the roof and the front fenders, likely to simulate a higher weight distribution.

If you're wondering why all these changes, it's because this is a test mule for a new compact SUV to replace Renault's current Koleos, which is manufactured by Renault Samsung Motors in South Korea.

Spy Shots: Renault Preparing Rugged-Looking Scenic Crossover

True, Renault is a little late to the SUV and crossover party in Europe, but the French carmaker is trying to catch up with several new proposals including a production model loosely based on the Captur Concept that will share its running gear with the Nissan Juke and a new edition of this year's facelifted Scenic MPV.

As you will see in these scoops, Renaut's Scenic prototype is wearing black pads to shield the more rugged looking front and rear ends, rocker panels and wheel arch extensions.

Buying Partly Worn Used Tires Can be a Devastating Mistake

Depending on your car, tires can be expensive, we know. But sometimes, there are things you have to purchase like a good set of tires, which you should really spend the extra buck on as it could literally save your life.

Take this recent story for example. Keith Johnston, a 41-year-old man from Tyne and Wear, which is a metropolitan county in North East England, is now paralyzed from the chest down due to the unfortunate bout of purchasing what he claimed to be "partly worn tires" for his Renault Scenic minivan.
