2013 Mazda CX-9 with New "Why so Serious" Face Makes World Premiere at Sydney Motor Show

Mazda chose this week's Australian International Motor Show in Sydney for the first public appearance of its redesigned CX-9 crossover. The Japanese firm's seven-seater model has been with us since 2007 having received its first facelift in 2009.

For its second facelift, Mazda brings the CX-9 closer to its newer products like the "6" and the CX-5 by applying the 'KODO - Soul of Motion' design theme to front and rear ends of the mid-size crossover, while also making some minor tweaks to the interior and adding a raft of new safety features.

At least from some angles, the 2013 CX-9's new and more serious fascia that features a five-point grille with a chrome surround connected to the revamped headlamps and a brand new bumper design, looks sharper and more modern than the outgoing model.

Mark Twain once famously said, “The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.” The same seems to holds true about the Australian market Ford Falcon, which will live on after all, at least for another generation, despite the rumors of its death because of declining sales.

In move that took most by surprise, Ford showed a teaser video of the all-new 2014 Falcon at the Australian International Motor Show in Sydney, on Thursday morning.

Lexus LF-LC Concept gets the Blues for the 2012 Sydney Auto Show

As it turns out, what Lexus meant to say when it announced back in August that it plans to reveal a "further development of a vehicle shown at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year" at the Australian Auto Show in Sydney, is that it would display the LF-LC in a different shade.

Lexus tells us that the LF-LC Blue concept's new hue is inspired by the glossy base color found in the naturally occurring semi-precious opal stone of outback Australia.

Holden Special Vehicles Turns 25 and Celebrates with Special Edition GTS

Australia's high-performance car manufacturer Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) continues the yearlong festivities for its 25th anniversary with the presentation of a special edition version of the GTS ahead of a world premiere at the 2012 Sydney auto show later in October.

"From day one, our mission at HSV has been to build Australia's finest performance cars. Every year, for the past 25, we have refined and evolved on what has gone before. And now, we present the newest HSV flag bearer – our 25th Anniversary GTS," said Holden's subsidiary in a statement.

In essence, the new 25th Anniversary GTS is a cosmetic and equipment package as there's no extra oomph for the special edition, which keeps the regular model's 6.2-litre V8 LS3 engine with 436Hp (325kW) and 550Nm (405.6 lb-ft).

Joining the local introductions and even some world premieres like the Lexus LF-LC II at the 2012 Australian International Motor Show in Sydney this October will be a unique muscle car build from the Land Down Under.

Now, an Australian has come up with a green muscle car build – and we're not referring to its beautiful, rich exterior shade.
