NCE Dreams of Chopping Off the Roof from a Nissan GT-R

In their quest to create a convertible of every single hardtop model out in the market, Newport Convertible Engineering (NCE) spends a lot of time on Photoshop fashioning a number of designs to see if anyone would be interested in following this route.

After the Acura TL, Aston Martin Rapide and Hyundai Equus cabriolets, NEC has released a single (computer generated) image of a Nissan GT-R in convertible.

Moron Alert: Nissan GT-R Driver Crashes Right Into a Lexus RX

Yes, it's head-scratching, Russian dash-cam time again and here we have a foolish and impatient driver, who after this incident, shouldn't really be allowed behind the wheel of any car, let alone one of the likes of the Nissan GT-R, for a very long time.

While all other motorists were patiently waiting for the red light, the person driving the tuned Japanese sports car wanted to play smart guy violating a basic road rule that says stay on your side of the road, especially when there's a double line.

New Nissan GT-R Nismo to Get Over 570 Hp, Says Top Gear

A harder, better, faster version of any sporty car is a welcome addition, but when it’s Godzilla we’re talking about, then the talk suddenly gets a heck of a lot more interesting.

So apparently Top Gear has acquired information which would suggest that a Nismo GT-R is definitely in the works, and that it is being engineered to achieve a time of under 7m 18s on the Nürburgring, making it faster than the all-new Porsche 911 GT3 which manages the feat a claimed four seconds slower.

McLaren MP4-12C Matches the Nissan GT-R’s 0 to 60 MPH Time of 2.8 Seconds [w/Videos]

According to official data from McLaren, the MP4-12C sports car covers the sprint from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.1 seconds. Naturally, the car should accelerate to 60 mph (96 km/h) slightly quicker, but by which margin? Well, the people at Drag Times put the MP4-12C to the test and found out the car accelerates from standstill to 60 mph in an impressive 2.8 seconds.

This matches the time set by a 2012 Nissan GT-R, also tested by Drag Times. Taking into account that the Nissan has an advanced AWD system and a brutal 4,100rpm launch control, the McLaren’s result is even more impressive.

2013 Nissan GT-R Goes Up Against the BMW Alpina B6, the Outcome is Predictable…

British magazine Autocar has a habit pitting unlikely competitors against one another, then trying to find similarities, but ultimately admitting to the fact that the cars they choose are not the best matched.

Take their latest endeavor for example, which has them trying out the latest version of the Nissan GT-R, and having it compete against the BMW 6-Series-based Alpina B6 – the outcome is predictable.

Nissan’s GT-R Track vs. Audi’s R8 V10 Plus in MT Test

We recently showed you MotorTrend’s review of the Nissan GT-R with the optional Track Pack fitted, and the conclusions at the end of that test were pretty clear – it is a very serious “supercar killer,” which is immensely competent, but a bit detached and not that fun to drive at regular speeds, needing to be pushed hard to get enjoyment. MT Test Gives 2014 Nissan GT-R Track Pack a Thumbs Up

You’d be forgiven for thinking that the standard 2014 Nissan GT-R can handle its own on a race track just fine, and yet the Japanese manufacturer disagrees with you with the optional Track Pack, which slightly alters the car, making it a tiny bit more track-focused.

Tested by MotorTrend, there are absolutely no surprises, from the 2.7 seconds it takes to reach 60 mph (96 km/h), to the amazing numbers it records in the rest of the tests (grip, handling and especially braking), the GT-R proves as capable as ever. The Track Pack doesn’t add a whole deal more.

GTBoard Hits the Air Strip for Another Round of Supercar Drag Races

Feast your eyes and ears to a set of cars we never get bored of watching in action, no matter how many times we see them on the road. This time, the perpetrators are the folks from GTBoard who organized another horsepower-crazy event in Sweden.

The crop of exotic and regular sports cars engaging in some fun straight-line races includes a Porsche 911 Turbo S, a BMW M6 Coupe, a Bugatti Veyron, a Ferrari 458 Italia, and a few Nissan GT-Rs.

Harris Pits Audi R8 V10 Plus Against Porsche’s 911 Turbo S and 750 HP Tuned Nissan GT-R

Chris Harris always seems to like comparative tests better than single-car reviews, simply because there is more to talk about, analyze and/or examine. Each of the chosen cars is driven in turn, and at the end, conclusions are drawn.

This time, he has chosen an Audi R8 V10 Plus, a Porsche 997 Turbo S and a Nissan GT-R. However, as he himself admits, just bringing any old GT-R wouldn’t do the competition justice (in terms of price, at least), so what he’s actually brought to the track is a Litchfield-tuned car, which reportedly has around 750 hp, a revised chassis and ceramic brakes.

Nissan Hands Over Exclusive Gold-Painted GT-R to World's Fastest Man

As it turns out, the "one-off" gold-colored GT-R that Nissan auctioned last December for US$187,100 with all proceeds going to the Usain Bolt Foundation to assist children in Jamaica, wasn't exactly a "one-off", as the man who helped create it, Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt, has also received one for his own collection.

Nissan handed over the special Gold 2014 GT-R to Bolt, who is an official ambassador of the brand, on Sunday, May 5, at the champion's home training facility in Jamaica.

Nissan Prices 2014 GT-R Track Edition – Only 150 Coming to U.S.

Nissan has named its price for the U.S. market 2014 GT-R Track Edition, which it says, “is designed to take the legendary street supercar even closer to a pure motorsports competition machine”. Production for the US market is limited to just 150 units – imagine the sheer level of smugness one exudes when saying he has one of “just 150.” Read more »

Watch a Tuned Honda Civic Type-R Keep Up with Nissan GT-R on the ‘Ring

If there’s one thing we like here at Carscoops it’s exciting on-board footage from the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Even more so those videos where you think the driver is completely mad, driving something not particularly fast (at first glance) and keeping up with, and passing other more powerful cars, in a heroic attempt to prove that a modified model can compete with something that was purpose-built to go fast. Watch a Nissan GT-R 550PS Race a Fighter Jet with 22,000HP

In its current form, the Nissan GT-R has been in the market for six years, but amazingly, it's still the king of performance when you weigh in the cost of acquiring the Japanese model that starts from just under $100,000 in the States.

With very few exceptions, that concern select and tremendously more expensive exotic hypercars - think the $2.8 million Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, it has come out as a winner in most speed-related competitions.

Nissan Compares 2014 GT-R Against 370Z Coupe and Infiniti FX on the Snow

That the GT-R is a high-performance sports car you can potentially use all year round and in a variety of weather conditions (just as long as you can afford the upkeep…), is a well-known and accepted fact, but how good is it really in snow and how does it compare to other vehicles?

Well, that's a question that would be better answered by someone not related to the company itself for apparent reasons, but that doesn’t mean we're not interested in what Nissan has to say about it in a new video it has released.

Racy Jelacy Feels the Rumble from 1,000HP Chevy Silverado and 700hp Nissan GT-R [NSFW]

From what we've seen, you like watching high-powered sports cars and in some cases, trucks as well, accelerating at full speed, preferably with a beautiful young woman placed on the passenger seat, so here's a fresh pair of (for all of you who are getting ready to smirk right now, please remove your mind out of the gutter…) clips. Nissan Confirms New High-Performance GT-R NISMO Edition for Next Year

If there's one car in Nissan's range that doesn’t really need, but should have a Nismo edition for a number of reasons, the most important of which has to do with improving the sub-brand's image, it is the GT-R flagship, and today we learn that it will indeed happen.

The announcement was made during the official opening of the new Nismo global headquarters and development center in Yokohama, Japan.

Future Cars: CarScoop's Vision of the 2017 Nissan GT-R

Ever since its Japanese launch in 2007 (USA 2008), the Nissan GT-R has gained a huge following and respect with its supercar-bashing performance. Subtle upgrades have been applied over its current lifespan with the aim of keeping Italians, Germans and Americans at bay with its AWD drivetrain coupled to a potent 3.8L twin-turbo V6.

However, the competition will not surrender; cue GM and Porsche with their new Corvette Stingray and 911 models respectively, as prime examples - hence why Nissan is expected to respond again.

For those of us like myself who grew up as part of the early-adapting PlayStation generation, the GT-R obsession grew with the R32-34 Nissan Skylines of the 1990's. Their bang-for-buck thrills combined with endless modification options has turned the GT-R moniker into something of an automotive cult status.

Nissan Commences Sales of Updated 2013 GT-R in Europe, Laps 'Ring in 7:18.6

A couple of months after its world premiere at last year’s LA Auto Show, the updated for 2013 (2014MY in North America) Nissan GT-R has gone on sale in Europe.

It may look no different from the outgoing model but under the skin, the new GT-R features a raft of improvements. The 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 now pumps out 545HP (550PS) and 463 lb-ft (627 Nm) of torque and sports high-output injectors, a new relief valve for the turbocharger bypass and a new oil pan baffle.
