Walk Around the 2014 Mazda3 Hatch in These New Videos

There are many reasons why Mazda and its dealers are hyped about the new, third generation of the brand's "3" hatchback (called Axela in Japan), which will soon be joined by a sedan variant.

Just to mention a few, it looks a whole lot better, thanks to the edgier and more well received (especially on the Mazda6) Kodo design language, while also benefiting from Mazda's suite of SkyActive technology comprising lightweight engines, transmissions, body and chassis.

Mazda Says MX-5 it’s the World’s Fastest Convertible - If It Starts To Rain…

No, Mazda isn’t adopting all-wheel drive for the MX-5 / Miata, but when I first watched the video I really didn’t know what to expect. It is a recently uploaded promo that showcases the swiftness of the car’s folding hardtop mechanism.

They put it up against some serious competition, including a Lamborghini Gallardo, a Ford Mustang V6 and a Porsche 911. However, they add a twist by making it rain (caused by water tanker in the background, not actual clouds, though). All cars must then raise their roof, and then set off.

Watch Comparo Between the Scion FRS, Mazda RX-8 and Honda S2000 - Which One Do You Like?

Our obsession with everything new and cutting-edge is a very damaging one, simply because it limits our horizon in so many ways. For instance, why would you buy a Toyota GT86/Subaru BRZ/Scion FRS when there are two perfectly good (older) sports cars that share all the right ingredients – front engine, rear wheel drive and excellent dynamics?

The two models I'm talking about are the smooth Mazda RX-8 (find out all you need to know about it here) and the screaming Honda S2000, which is my personal favorite, because I still think it looks good and sounds even better. All three cars were pitted against one another by Everyday Driver, and in the end a winner was chosen.

Asshat Audi R8 Driver is Just Asking to be Rammed by Mazda3

If we told you that, there was a fairly new, and evidently, very expensive Audi R8 sports coupe, and a mainstream Mazda3 on a city road, and that one of the two drivers was provoking the other one, performing dangerous moves, who would you think that would be?

Understandably, most would say that the Audi R8 driver would be the victim and the person behind the wheel of the Mazda3 the perpetrator. Well, if you made those choices, you're wrong because the exact opposite occurred in this incident from St. Petersburg, Russia.

This is What Happens to a Miata when it Gets Too Close to a Corvette

The good thing about race-prepped cars and track circuits is that drivers can hone their skills and push their limits much, much higher than what they would ever attempt to do on a public road, in a completely legal manner and in a far more safer and controlled environment for the themselves and other motorists.

The bad thing is that all of the above can actually make some drivers be less careful and more spontaneous, which can, of course, lead to trouble…

My Rotary Diaries: An Owner’s Guide to the Mazda RX-8 Galaxy

"The RX-8 doesn’t just like a drink; it is the founding member of the AA institution for sports car engines"

Are you tired of my RX-8 reports yet? If you secretly nodded your head in agreement, then I have good news for you, because this will be the final one, in which I’ll try to recount the ups and downs of running Mazda’s last rotary sports car – until, hopefully, the next one comes up…

First of all, let me introduce you to the world’s first contemporary four-door coupe. The Mercedes-Benz CLS that supposedly invented the niche? It was launched a year later than the RX-8, which is a coupe and has four doors. True, the Merc and its clones are perched much higher in terms of pricing and none adopted the rear suicide doors that did without the B-pillar, but you get the point.

Consumer Reports Takes the New 2014 Mazda6 and 2013 Lexus LS for a Spin

The two latest arrivals in the garage of Consumer Reports is an early production version of the all-new 2014 Mazda6 sedan and Lexus' revised 2013 LS flagship, both of which were taken out for a first drive by the magazine's auto engineer, Tom Mutchler.

Beginning with the new generation of the Mazda6, Mutchler gives it praise for its "sleek" design calling it one of the sexiest models together with Ford's latest Fusion in the (mainstream) mid-size sedan segment, its modern amenities and tech gadgets, while his first driving impression of the early production model is that it's "quite agile and light on its feet".

Woman Backs Into a Woman Trying to Help Move her Car…

Just trust us when we say that you never, ever want to stand behind (or anywhere close, for that matter…) of the woman driving the car featured in this incident, which reportedly took place in mother Russia.

The woman in the Mazda6 (?) sedan appeared to be in a pickle while trying to maneuver her car out of a parking lot, at which point, another woman came out of the blue (or in this case, white) to give a helping hand.

NAIAS 2013: Mazda6 Skyactiv-D Grand-Am Diesel-Powered Racer

When Audi wanted to showcase its TDI diesel technology, it chose to compete in the 2006 Le Mans 24-hour race with a diesel-powered prototype. It was a risky move, as the R10 TDI replaced the all-conquering gasoline-powered R8 that had five straight wins under its belt. The success of the R10, and later the R15, proved that Audi was right. Quad-Amputee Drifts a MazdaSpeed 6, Wants Ken Block to Give Him a Ride

Feel free to add Taylor Morris to our selective list of remarkable people. The young man you're about to watch drift a MazdaSpeed6 sedan (also known as the Mazda6 MPS in other markets around the world) on the snow is a quadruple amputee with replacements for his lost parts.

Morris, who lost his limbs while serving in Afghanistan, along with his buddies, made this video to capture the attention of professional driver Ken Block as he wishes to ride with him in a race car.

Idiots in Road Rage Incident Almost Kill Pedestrians

It’s one thing being annoyed over something as trivial as to who's going to give way first on the road, and another when you take unwise actions and endanger the lives of others drivers and pedestrians like these two swell-headed egomaniacs.

The men behind the wheels of the Nissan Teana sedan and the Mazda CX-9 crossover were trying to intimidate each other in a stupid game of chicken on the road by swerving left and right.

2013 Mazda CX-9 with New "Why so Serious" Face Makes World Premiere at Sydney Motor Show

Mazda chose this week's Australian International Motor Show in Sydney for the first public appearance of its redesigned CX-9 crossover. The Japanese firm's seven-seater model has been with us since 2007 having received its first facelift in 2009.

For its second facelift, Mazda brings the CX-9 closer to its newer products like the "6" and the CX-5 by applying the 'KODO - Soul of Motion' design theme to front and rear ends of the mid-size crossover, while also making some minor tweaks to the interior and adding a raft of new safety features.

At least from some angles, the 2013 CX-9's new and more serious fascia that features a five-point grille with a chrome surround connected to the revamped headlamps and a brand new bumper design, looks sharper and more modern than the outgoing model.

Bat-Holding Teen Smashes a Mazda6 Over a Magazine Cover...We Think

While nothing really surprises us any more, it's not everyday that you see a youngster going berserk on a fairly new vehicle.

To be honest, though, we have some reservations about the authenticity of this episode and whether it was staged or not (for whatever reason), but ultimately, we will let you be the judge of that.

Joining the 263-horsepower MazdaSpeed3 that made a guest appearance in the previous episode (see here) as well, is the latest Honda Civic Coupe Si, which is powered by a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter inline-four cranking out 201-ponies.

Track Test Duel: Scion FR-S vs. Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T vs. Mazda MX-5

Not surprisingly, the more or less identical Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S (marketed under the Toyota 86 or GT 86 nameplates outside North America) sports coupes are all the talk these days.

Adding to the many comparisons made by all sorts of online and print publications from all four corners of the world over the past few months is a new review by Jack Baruth from The Truth About Cars.

This time, it’s a track test duel between the 200hp Scion FR-S, the more potent but heavier 274hp Hyundai Genesis 2.0 Turbo and the less powerful but lighter 167hp Mazda MX-5.
