MT Does Classic Test Between BMW 750Li and Jaguar XJL Supercharged

Those looking to buy a long wheelbase car will find that the Jaguar XJL bears little resemblance to what they normally get - the old XJ included.

When comparing it to a BMW 7-Series long wheelbase edition, a 750Li, the much more restrained German saloon is overshadowed by the very flamboyant Brit, both inside and out, as well as when it comes to the overall driving and ownership experience, as MotorTrend found out recently when pitting the two cars against one another

This Cat is Really Stretching Out: Jaguar XJ with Extra LWB Coming to China?

The Jaguar XJ is a long car, with plenty of room in the back for even the most long-legged of supermodel girls. If, however, you want more room than you actually need, there’s the extended wheel base version, which is very popular in China, and now, if we are to believe several leaked patent renderings, an even longer variant could be on its way.

Be warned, though, as this could just as easily be hoax, or even 3D model destined for a driving game. Still, if it really is a patent rendering, then it announces the arrival of a “super-stretched” XJ destined exclusively for the legroom-crazy Chinese market.

Next Jaguar XJ Not Getting Two Different Body Styles After All…

Not so long ago, we told you that, according to an Edmunds report, Jaguar was going to design two distinct body styles for the next generation of their XJ saloon. We explained that the move was motivated by the company’s desire to make it in China, a country where the current model’s bold lines and different look are not particularly appreciated – a more classic-looking design would have been preferred, and that, along with the fact that China is growing to be Jag’s primary market probably sparked the rumors. Next Jaguar XJ Reportedly to Come in Two Market-Specific Body Styles, Classic and Modern

You can’t not notice a current-generation Jaguar XJ as it drives by, and as you move your head in synchronicity with the movement of the car, you will notice that other people around you have also taken notice. It’s an imposing sedan, and the first different XJ in a long line of conservatively-styled cars.

However, it seems that while the new look was received quite well on the markets where the brand is already well-established, it fared less-well elsewhere. In China, for instance, most would apparently prefer a more restrained and classic-looking Jaguar shape, and since it is set to become the Indian-owned automaker’s main source of revenue, they feel forced to comply.

Jaguar Drops Full Details, Photos and Video of 2014 XJR Super Saloon

Jaguar has lifted the veil off the first “R” model of the latest generation XJ flagship sedan. With a bespoke chassis and aerodynamic improvements, the XJR is “the most focused, agile and responsive member of the XJ family,” according to the British firm.

Like the XKR-S GT, which will also premiere at the New York Auto Show, the XJR is powered by a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine that develops 542hp (550PS) and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque. Mated to an 8-speed transmission, the V8 pushes the XJR from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds) and on to a top speed of 174 mph (280 km/h).

2014 Jaguar XJR Performance Saloon with 550hp to Premiere in New York

Jaguar is expanding its range of high-performance "R" models with the addition of the all-new XJR sedan, which will make its first public outing next week at the 2013 New York International Auto Show.

The most potent model of the XJ series features a 550-horsepower engine, which Jaguar does not detail, but is most likely the same 550hp 5.0-liter supercharged V8 found in the XFR-S that premiered last November in Los Angeles.

Jaguar-Land Rover to Celebrate James Bond's Golden Anniversary at Paris Auto Show [w/Video]

The last time we saw a Jaguar in a 007 flick it was 10 years ago in Die Another Day: the car was a previous-generation XKR convertible driven by the villain, while Bond drove an Aston Martin Vanquish.

It was the last Bond film starring Pierce Brosnan and at the time, both companies were part of Ford’s Premier Automotive Group. Nowadays, Daniel Craig has replaced Brosnan, the fictional secret agent’s storyline has been rebooted and Ford has since sold Jaguar and Aston Martin.

2013 Jaguar XJ gets New Supercharged V6 and Standard 8-Speed Auto Across the Range

Having teased us about some of the goods that will come with the 2013 model year XJ at the Beijing Auto Show in April, Jaguar has now officially revealed its updated limousine.

For starters, don't go looking for any styling tweaks on the 2013MY XJ as there are none. Instead, Jaguar placed its focus on improving the XJ's powertrain, chassis and equipment features.

One of the most significant upgrades is the presentation of the Jaguar-Land Rover Group's brand-new 3.0-liter supercharged V6 that replaces the naturally-aspirated version of the 5.0-litre V8, and which will also be used on the upcoming F-Type roadster.

In the XJ, the force-fed V6 produces a maximum output of 335hp (340PS) and peak torque of 450Nm (332 lb-ft) allowing for a 0-60mph sprint time of 5.7 seconds (0-100km/h in 5.9 seconds) and a combined fuel economy of 30mpg UK (9.4lt/100km or 25mpg US).

Dutch Design Studio Converts Classic Jaguar XJ into a…Hanging Bookshelf!

We're all for classic cars with character being preserved and used on the road, but we’re going to admit that there's something cool about the idea of having a real life vehicle as a decorative piece in your house.

This is exactly what Dutch design studio Denieuwegeneratie did for one of its clients for a project called "Dutch Mountain".

The designers incorporated a classic Jaguar XJ (Series III, judging from the absence of the triangular windows on the front doors) into a room, by converting it into a…bookshelf and hanging it on the wall!
