Spied: Skoda Cheekily Disguises New Rapid SpaceBack as a Fabia Combi

While there are many questions surrounding the teaser photo of a new Rapid model that was released by Skoda earlier today, there's nothing of the sort with these spy shots, even though the Czechs and their German counterparts at the VW Group did try to fool us much in the same way they've done in the past with other vehicles Read more »

Skoda Rapid Gains Xenon Headlights in 2014 Model-Year Transition

The Skoda Rapid is not a car you buy with your heart, but it definitely appeals to the head. It doesn’t hurt the eye, having good proportions and clear lines, and a typical VW Group interior that places function over form. Now, the Czech automaker has updated the car for the new, 2014 model year, and the main addition is that instant kudos-builder - Xenon headlamps. Read more »

Opel Reveals Face of Monza Coupe Concept Ahead of Frankfurt Debut [w/Video]

Opel and sister company Vauxhall have slowly moved away from the conservative image they used to have in the days of the last-gen Vectra, a car which pretty much summed up their range some 10 years ago, as it was not particularly good to look at, drive or own, being engineered to be just competent enough to sell and not break down. Besides, it also built on a renowned Opel quality: cheap spare parts and simple cars that are relatively easy to work on and mend. Read more »

Opel Reportedly Bringing RWD Monza Coupe Concept to Frankfurt, May Preview Buick Model

Close to two decades after the demise of the Calibra, Opel (and consequently its British Vauxhall arm) will test the public’s reaction at the Frankfurt motor show in September with the Monza study, a coupe that may preview a future Audi A5 and BMW 4-Series rival.

According to a report from Auto Bild, the Opel Monza study will feature a sharp design and, surprisingly, a rear-wheel drive setup. The name Monza was also used by a RWD Opel coupe in the 1970s and 1980s.

2014 Mazda3 Sedan: New Gallery with 42 High-Res Photos [Updated]

As it turns out, yesterday's premature release of half-a-dozen photos of the brand-new 2014 Mazda3 Sedan was only the tip of the iceberg, as 37 high-res images of the compact model turned up on the web today.

Carscoops reader Mr Frisko pointed us towards the Czech website "Auto" for the new batch of photos that give us a better perspective of Mazda's fresh entry in the segment, in terms of both quality and quantity.

2014 Mazda3 Sedan: This Is Really It, The First Official Photos!

Let's all give a big great Спасибо (pronounced spa-SEE-buh) to the guys over at Top Gear Russia for the early release of the first official photos of the new 2014 Mazda3 Sedan and a big thank you to Carscoops reader Laurence H. for telling us about it.

The new four-door sedan of the latest generation "3" is exactly what you'd expect it to be – an even prettier body style than the hatchback (or at least it is in our eyes and you're always free to disagree with us) that also looks like a Mazda6 that shrunk in the dryer.

The addition of the boot looks seamless in these pictures, thanks in part to the elongated roofline and the crispy-styled rear end with a different design from the hatchback.

Unsurprisingly, the interior is the same as on the five-door model, though, we'll have to wait and see if it the four-door body style affects passenger space. One thing is for sure – the boot will be much larger due to the longer rear overhang.

If you're not a fan of estate cars with SUV-like body cladding, jacked up suspension and all-wheel drive, then you may want to skip this post,  though, there's a lot to like about these types of vehicles as they try to be a little bit of everything. By everything, I also mean get decent fuel efficiency figures. Just have a look at Opel/Vauxhall’s new Insignia Country Tourer. Read more »

Spy Shots: New Nissan Qashqai Crossover Looks Like a Baby 2015 Rogue

You'd be forgiven to mistake this plastic-wrapped Nissan prototype for the next Rogue in North America, and from what we hear, the new X-Trail for the rest of the world, that our spies nabbed testing in the States a couple of weeks ago, given that the styling looks almost identical at a first glance. All-New 2014 Mini Cooper S Scooped Completely Undisguised!

It was to our understanding that, Mini's German parent firm, the BMW Group, had made plans to blow the covers off the all-new, third generation of the Hatch just before or during the press days of the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show in September, but evidently, they didn't count on someone being on hand during an official photo shoot of the car…in July. Well, all the better for us!

There were three cars spotted at the press-book photo session, two Cooper S models finished in light orange and gunmetal grey shades respectively, and a regular Cooper in red paint with a white roof, stripes and mirrors.

As we've mentioned many times in the past in our scoop posts, the 2014 Mini hatchback evolves the series' signature looks that were inspired by the original model penned by Greek-British car designer Sir Alec Isigonis.

The most visible changes concern the front end that is directly inspired from the 2011 Mini Rocketman, a concept for an even smaller Mini hatchback that never came into fruition, with bug-eye, LED-equipped headlamps and a new interpretation of the firm's grille. The front windshield also looks more raked while at the back, we see that Mini's designers used much larger and prominent taillights.

All-New 2014 Mazda3 Sedan: This Could Be The First Official Teaser

We were just tipped off by Carscoops reader Bruno about an allegedly official photo teaser of the new 2014 Mazda3 Sedan that has been making the rounds on a number of internet forums this morning.

At a first (and second…) glance, it appears to be legit, though, a quick look at the galleries we've posted of the hatchback version of the Mazda3 reveals an identical image of the five-door model. So, what is it; real or fake?

Scoop: This is The New 2014 BMW X4 Crossover in its Production Form

The funny thing about the BMW X4 is that, even though we knew about it for a long time, our spies hadn't captured a prototype model on the road. Of course, as most of you likely remember, BMW eventually came out with a concept version to preview the sporty crossover at the Shanghai Auto Show in China just this past April.

Well, now we can add the X4 to our long list of upcoming cars that have been spied as pre-production test models. BMW engineers may have slathered a few layers of wraps with swirly shapes, but since there are no fake panels, they don't do much to hide the appearance of the actual X4 that will go on sale in the first half of next year.

To get an idea of what it will look like without the camouflage, the relation of the X4 Concept to the X4 production model is exactly the same as that of the 4-Series Concept to the 2014MY 4-Series Coupe presented about a fortnight ago.

Production Version of New BMW i3 Revealed in Patent Drawings

This ladies and gentleman, is what the production version of BMW's foray into the pure and extended range electric vehicle category, the all-new i3, will look like when the Bavarian carmaker presents it to the public before the end of the summer and ahead of its public premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

While these are drawings, they are official patents of the production i3 previewed by a concept of the same name some two years ago at the 2011 Frankfurt auto show. To see the differences between the conceptual and the actual i3, we placed pictures of the two cars side by side.

Scooped and Official: Citroen's New Seven-Seater C4 Grand Picasso

With the brand-new five-seater C4 Picasso's face already out in the open, Citroen is now concentrating on the release of its longer and more spacious sibling, the seven-seater C4 Grand Picasso. Carscoops reader Ludovic sent us a scanned page from the French car magazine Auto Journal with the first official photos of the versatile family MPV, and some details, though; we couldn't make out the main text and numbers.

A search on the interwebs landed us on the Planete-Citroen forums where member Frédoën shared a handful of pictures of the new C4 Grand Picasso that he nabbed parked outside a furniture store in eastern France without a single drop of camouflage.

Renault Subtly Updates the Koleos, Gains New Grille and Multimedia System [w/Videos]

Renault has released a mildly revised Renault Koleos at the International Buenos Aires Motor Show in Argentina. Renault says its crossover model now features the brand’s latest identity, but the changes are rather small compared to the facelifted model launched in 2011.

The most obvious modification is the redesigned V-shaped grille that has also received a larger rhombus logo. The rest of the front end is virtually unchanged, as is the rear, with the Koleos only gaining redesigned two-tone wheels, a chrome finish for the side protective strips and a new body color called Ebony Brown.

Aston Martin Blows the Top Off New $300,000 Vanquish Volante Convertible [Photos & Video]

If you like the new Vanquish and have $300,000 to spare (actually, a little less at $297,995, to be precise - just as long as you avoid the temptation of ticking any option boxes) and prefer to see the sun instead of the coupe's headliner, Aston Martin has just presented the open top version dubbed Volante.

Among the many features highlighted by Aston Martin is the fact that the new Vanquish Volante is the first fully carbon fibre-skinned and simultaneously, stiffest convertible model in the brand’s 100-year history. The full height windscreens is another first for an open top Aston.

Scoop: Is This the Successor to the Lamborghini Gallardo, the New Cabrera?

It was only this week that we learned about Lamborghini's plans to preview a replacement for the 10 year old (!) and very successful with more than 10,000 examples built to date, Gallardo, at the forthcoming Frankfurt Motor Show in the beginning of September with a concept, reportedly named Carbrera.

Now, we have a set of scoops shots that are said to be of a prototype of that supercar and which were brought to our attention (and hosted) by the Italian site Carpassion.
