Watch Four Stooges Cross the Pikes Peak Course Moments Before Loeb’s Peugeot Flew By

Being a spectator at a rally or hill climb event is not a hard thing to do. As a basic rule, you just have to listen to your survival instincts and everything will be all right. Needless to say, of all the stupid actions a spectator can do, crossing the course or standing on the road at the wrong time is the most dangerous. Read more »

Watch Sebastien Loeb’s Pikes Peak Record Run from Inside the Peugeot 208 T16

We know that you have been waiting for this since news broke out that Sebastien Loeb shattered the previous record (dating from 2012) of the world’s most famous hillclimb race in the monstrous 875HP Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak. After all, it’s not every day that we see a Pikes Peak record being broken by more than one minute and a half!

The following onboard video of the stunning 8 minute and 13.878 second climb may help us understand how that was possible. Although when you combine one of rallying’s most successful world champions ever and a car that boasts a power-to-weight ratio of 1hp/kg, it’s not very difficult to imagine such an outcome.

Sebastian Loeb Obliterates Pikes Peak Record and Wins with 8:13.878 [w/Video]

In motorsport, progress is usually very incremental, and its fruits translate into tenths or even hundredths of a second gained. However, while that statement may stand true when it comes to the conventional types of motorsport, doing the annual Pikes Peak hillclimb is like successfully completing a fast and consistent lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife - a very special achievement, and therefore the normal rules don’t apply.

For instance, this year, "newcomer" Sebastien Loeb managed to win by shaving more than a minute and a half off last year’s 9:46.164 time, set by Rhys Millen!

Renault Clio RS 200 EDC Drag Races Predecessor and Peugeot 208 GTI

When you’re buying a relatively affordable hot hatch, the sheer amount of performance you are offered is hugely important, especially if you are the kind of person who really likes his or her car, and wants everybody to know just how much.

Currently, the Renault Clio RS 200 EDC, with a 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol engine is the king of the supermini-based hot hatches, when it comes to how much of its power it can put to the ground.

Peugeot 208 T16 Was the Fastest in Its First Pikes Peak Test

Peugeot Sport has baptized its 208 T16 on the Pikes Peak tarmac, where the 875-hp beast has completed its first practice outing. With Sébastien Loeb behind the wheel, the Peugeot 208 T16 looked at home on the Pikes Peak course, partly because its racing colors remind of the legendary Pikes Peak-winning Peugeot 405 T16. Brazilian Ad for Peugeot 208 Revives Classic Hanna-Barbera Cartoon

It’s nice to see that automakers don’t have a dictated policy when it comes to what sort commercial their hired ad men have the freedom to produce. This means the quality of commercials varies, and some are very bad, while others are well-executed enough for their quirky takes to be easily digestible by most. Read more »

Here's Why Trying to Play Ogier Near a Lake is a Very Bad Idea

We're all for having some tooth-knocking fun on the gravel with your car, but you should always be aware of your surroundings and the dangers they possess when something goes wrong, and adjust your pace accordingly, otherwise you'll have someone yelling "Pourquoi, pourquoi, pourquoi?", which is French for "Why, why, why?". Peugeot 208 T16 Meets Ventoux Mountain in First Hill Climb Test before Pikes Peak [w/Video]

Peugeot is ready for the “Race to the Clouds” after the 208 T16 Pikes Peak has successfully finished its first and only test “in the wild” ahead of the Colorado event.

Sébastien Loeb drove the 208 T16 Pikes Peak in the south of France on Mont Ventoux, famous for hosting a stage of the Tour de France cycling race. It was the first time the 875-hp car rolled outside Peugeot Sport’s factory or a closely guarded circuit.

Sebastien Loeb Finds the Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak "Incredible"

Peugeot has a history of making great race cars out of their run-of-the-mill hatchback models, usually by taking the engine from under the bonnet, throwing it out, and putting an all-new and much more powerful unit in the middle of the chassis, for better balance and traction.

Sadly, modern WRC rules are rather limiting, and in order for the Peugeot engineers to stretch their wings, they need to look elsewhere, and more specifically, the Pikes Peak hill climb, for which they created the 208 T16 Pikes Peak.

Remembering Clarkson’s Review of Peugeot's 306, Will the New 308 be Anything Like it?

Back in the mid-1990s, Peugeots were appreciated in Europe for their excellent handling characteristics. The French really knew how to tune a chassis in those days, and it showed. However, that fun-to-drive character and pretty if a bit understated looks, gave way to gaping mouths (grilles) with huge headlights on either side, mediocre dynamics and lots of dealer discounts to keep the sales ball rolling. Peugeot 208 T16 Attacks Pikes Peak with 875 HP, or 1HP per Kg! [w/Videos]

Peugeot has finally revealed technical specs of its 208 T16 Pikes Peak car, which will be driven by rally legend Sébastien Loeb in the “Race to the Clouds” climb on June 30. Since Peugeot Sport’s objective is to win the race, the car it will throw in the competition is one hardcore beast, to say the least.

Its mid-mounted engine is a bi-turbo V6 derived from the unit in the Peugeot 908 endurance car and develops 875 horsepower - more than a Formula 1 car can brag about. To put it into context, the 208 T16 Pikes Peak tips the scales at 875 kilograms (1,929 pounds), which means the car has an outstanding power-to-weight ratio of 1 horsepower per kilogram!

Peugeot RCZ Races Mountain Bike and –Of Course- Wins in New Promo Video

Nobody ever denied Peugeot the satisfaction of hearing that they have done a great job styling the RCZ. However, it seems that their standards for driving dynamics have sunk so low in recent years, that when all is said and done, it still just drives like a stiffened up 308 hatch.

The steering is inert, and if you go for the diesel (not really recommended on this car), the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) will dull the throttle response so much, that coupled with a bit of turbo lag, the only real engine option you are left for is the top 1.6 turbo petrol.

New Peugeot 208 GTi and Ford Fiesta ST Video Reviewed by HonestJohn

As we’ve stated on several other occasions, hot hatches are a very special type of car. No wonder the MK.I VW Golf GTI and Peugeot 205 GTi made such a mark in their day, because they offered it all for the person who didn't want to give up practicality and space, in the detriment of outright performance, at relatively affordable prices.

This is why the latest Ford Fiesta ST, and its rival from France, the Peugeot 208 GTi are very eagerly awaited by boy-racers, as well as middle-aged men suffering a mid-life crisis on a budget. The financial part is what really attracts buyers, though, and here the Ford comes out on top, because it is the cheaper option in the UK.

Peugeot Returns to Pikes Peak with 208 T16 and "Rookie" Sébastien Loeb [w/Videos]

Peugeot has announced its return to the Pikes Peak Hill Climb this year with a heavily modified 208 T16 that will be driven by nine-time world rally champion Sébastien Loeb.

A two-time winner of the “Race to the Clouds”, in 1988 with Ari Vatanen and 1989 with Robby Unser (both driving the 405 T16), Peugeot will once again try to win the world’s toughest and most spectacular hill climb race this year on June 30.

Journalist Takes Shotgun Ride in New Peugeot 208 GTi, Then Drives its "Mentors"

It is widely acknowledged that the French make excellent hot hatches, and while the two major forces may have stepped out of line with a few models here and there, the most recent of which is the forgettable 308 GTi from Peugeot, most of the hot stuff they put out really seems to work well in its intended purpose.
