Kia Thinks New CUB Concept is a Four-Door Coupe

Automakers often leave us scratching our heads with the things they claim in their press announcements and presentations. By definition, the term four-door coupe is a misnomer because technically, you can have both, but let's say for the sake of conversation, we accept it for what it stands in today's automotive world – a sedan with a coupe-like profile and roofline.

Looking at these freshly released pictures of Kia's brand-new CUB Concept that debuts at this week's Seoul Motor Show (March 28 to April 7), how would you best describe its body style? If you answered a five-door hatchback, Kia will kindly disagree with you, as according to the Koreans, the CUB is a "compact four-door coupe".

Kia's Provo Concept Draws Fire from Northern Ireland Politician

Kia seems to have tangled itself into a messy situation after the release of its new 246HP turbocharged Provo Concept that made its world premiere this week at the Geneva International Auto Show.

The reason why Kia is in hot water today has to do with the concept hatchback's name and its association to the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA), who engaged in bombing campaigns during the Troubles in Northern Ireland from 1967 to 1997, and whose members were often referred to as "Provos".

Kia Details 246Hp Provo Hybrid Concept that Hints at Future B-Segment Model

Kia seems really keen on changing their perceived image, and now that they've moved away from their 'bargain-basement' roots, and more into premium territory, they have realized that there's still a long way to go before they can actually match the brand image of their established mainstream rivals.

The brand lacks sporty pedigree, and that's exactly what they've set out to change. First we recieved the Cee'd and Pro_Cee'D GT versions, which will inject a dose of much needed excitement into the Kia name.

Say Hello to Kia's New Geneva Motor Show-Bound Provo Concept

Kia's surprise debut for next week's Geneva Auto Salon is a secret no more, at least in what concerns its appearance and name, after photos of the concept car surfaced on the internet today.

The car is named Provo and it's a study for a sporty looking three door hatchback, described by the Korean maker as a "racy new urban concept".

No other information is available on the Provo, but if you don't mind us playing the speculation game, we'd say Kia might be cooking up a sporty challenger for the Mini Coupe.

Kia Goes Up, Up and Away with Superman-Themed Optima Hybrid

It may be comically slower than a speeding bullet, not even remotely powerful as a locomotive, and it will never, ever be able to leap tall buildings, but the Superman-themed Kia Optima Hybrid that debuted at the Chicago Auto Show will bring to mind the "man of steel's" wardrobe with its looks. Kia Guns for BMW with New Cross GT Concept at Chicago Auto Show

Whereas Germany's premium carmakers are looking to expand their reach in smaller segments, Korea's Hyundai and Kia are actively flirting with the idea of enhancing their range with more premium and larger-size vehicles.

At this week's Chicago Auto Show, Kia pulled the covers off the new Cross GT concept, which it describes as "blurring the line" between GT sedan study and a luxury crossover vehicle. The reference to the rear-wheel drive GT sedan also has to do with the fact that the Cross GT is based on the same chassis.

Kia Sportage Concept is One Happy Looking Design Study

Ever since Kia placed German automobile designer Peter Schreyer at the helm of its design division in 2006, the Korean automaker's products have gone from good to better, as far as styling is concerned (mpg's, not so much…).

Design, however, is a process that constantly evolves and is always in need of some fresh input, so it's actually great to see independent stylists applying their personal touch on an automaker's products.

The Batman-themed Optima is the first of a series of eight customized Kia cars that will be released over the next 10 months, with each model representing a character from DC's Justice League.
