McLaren 12C Rumored to Receive Power Boost Courtesy of P1 Engine Upgrades

A recent article on Jalopnik is reporting that the McLaren 12C is getting another power increase, to make it even faster than its Italian rival, the Ferrari 458 Italia. Apparently, it will benefit from a number of upgrades operated on the larger P1 hybrid hypercar, which makes 727 hp from what is basically the same engine. Read more »

McLaren MP4-12C Matches the Nissan GT-R’s 0 to 60 MPH Time of 2.8 Seconds [w/Videos]

According to official data from McLaren, the MP4-12C sports car covers the sprint from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.1 seconds. Naturally, the car should accelerate to 60 mph (96 km/h) slightly quicker, but by which margin? Well, the people at Drag Times put the MP4-12C to the test and found out the car accelerates from standstill to 60 mph in an impressive 2.8 seconds.

This matches the time set by a 2012 Nissan GT-R, also tested by Drag Times. Taking into account that the Nissan has an advanced AWD system and a brutal 4,100rpm launch control, the McLaren’s result is even more impressive.

McLaren 12C Spider Wears a New Suit from Gemballa

You could say that, compared to some of its prior projects (the Porsche Tornado and even more so the Mistrale, come to mind), Gemballa's styling take on the new McLaren MP4-12C Spider is subtle, but we don't mean that in a bad way, quite the opposite actually.

The German tuner's cosmetic touches accentuate the 12C Spider's lines affording it a more individualized appearance that could have very well originated from McLaren's factory.

You can Now Buy a Certified Pre-Owned car Directly from McLaren

Philippines Customs Confiscate Illegally Imported McLaren MP4-12C

Working as a customs officer, one intercepts a huge variety of goods that would have otherwise illegally made their way into the country. However, aside from drugs, bombs and various common items of contraband, apparently exclusive cars are also a target for shady entrepreneurs.

For instance, in the Philippines, McLaren isn't currently officially present, and it is therefore impossible to simply go out and buy a MP4-12C supercar, if you are inclined to do so.

McLaren Releases Photos of the 12C Spider Drifting in the Snow

McLaren's MP4-12C Spider is not the first car one thinks of when picturing an afternoon of sideways fun in the snow. With 616hp (625PS) now on tap, and peak torque coming in at a lowly 2,000 rpm, it will probably prove a bit of a handful on slippery surfaces, especially with the systems turned off. Read more »

New McLaren P1 Bows and Wows at the Geneva Auto Salon [w/Videos]

The old adage about racing improving the breed certainly applies to this year’s Geneva Motor Show. We’re not referring to the gorgeous 911 GT3 that will form the basis of Porsche's new racer but the two Formula 1 arch-rivals that launched their new hypercars at the Swiss show. Read more »

McLaren P1 Shows Up Alongside MP4-12C Spider in 2013 Formula 1 Car Launch [w/Video]

We can safely say that McLaren is showing off its upcoming P1 hypercar quite a lot lately – not that we’re complaining, of course. Barely a week after releasing a new video and a set of images of an “XP” (for “experimental”) test car with a black and white camouflage that did nothing to hide its lines, the company chose its 2013 Formula 1 contender’s launch to flaunt the P1 again. McLaren Updates MP4-12C GT3 Racer for 2013, WRC Champion Loeb to Compete in FIA GT

Non-motorsport fans may overlook racing versions of sports cars but the fact is, they make for a very lucrative business for automakers that, naturally, are very happy to put some effort into them.

Like Ferrari, Porsche and Mercedes-Benz, McLaren has developed a GT3-spec variant of its MP4-12C supercar that was supplied to 13 customer teams last year. In its inaugural season, the 12C GT3 took part in 98 separate events, mostly in Europe, and claimed 19 victories and a further 19 podium finishes.

McLaren MP4-12C Spider Makes its Italian Premiere at the 37th Bologna Motor Show

McLaren has made no secret that it wants each of its models to outgun Ferrari. The MP4-12C coupe, capable as it is, was deemed too clinical and lost out to the 458, forcing McLaren to make some changes that will be retrofitted to cars already sold. Read more »

McLaren Unleashes Limited Run 630HP MP4-12C Can-Am GT Priced at £375,000

Right before the U.S. Formula 1 Grand Prix held during this weekend at Austin, Texas, McLaren announced that the Can-Am concept, which was shown at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance last summer as a design study for a more extreme, track-focused version of the MP4-12C, will enter a limited production run.

The track-only Can-Am model was developed by McLaren GT, the Woking-based automaker’s racing division. It is inspired by the GT3 racing version and, according to the company, “pays tribute to Bruce McLaren and Denny Hulme who successfully raced a series of McLaren models in the Can-Am series”.

According to Hamann Motorsports, if "grass-green Porsches, neon yellow Lamborghinis and luminous red Ferraris" captivate your attention on the road, then you're most certainly going to fall in love with its most colorful creation yet.

What we have here is a more artistic take on Hamann's McLaren MP4-12C "memoR" tune that we first laid eyes on at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

C&D Tests McLaren’s MP4-12C Spider, Does Ferrari Finally Have Something to Worry About?

Motoring journalists are not an easy crowd to please; at least the pros. Supercars get their fair share of criticism if they deserve it, even if it means that the “offending” editor or publication is subsequently considered a persona non gratta for the manufacturer.

All motoring hacks agreed that McLaren’s MP4-12C was something of a mixed bag. An impressive piece of engineering, it got top marks for its technology, interior, performance, handling and ride.

On the downside, it failed in its most critical test: it didn’t measure up to the class benchmark, Ferrari’s 458. Put simply, it was deemed too clinical and uninvolving, which are cardinal sins as far as a supercar is concerned.
