The third generation of the Sierra Denali will be available with a 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8 engine that produces approximately 420 horsepower and 450 lb-ft (609 Nm) of torque, figures that will make it the most powerful light duty truck on the market. GMC Reveals Regular Cab Version of the 2014 Sierra while Talking about Aerodynamics

Despite the fact that these are the first official images depicting the Regular Cab version of the 2014 GMC Sierra, GM doesn’t say a word about it. The images come from a GM press release that focuses on busting "myths" about pickup trucks having poor aerodynamics.

Launched as a Crew Cab, just like its Chevrolet Silverado sibling, the all-new GMC Sierra will also have Regular Cab and Double Cab versions, both coming this summer. The images show the 2014 GMC Sierra testing in the wind tunnel, a rather unusual environment for a pickup truck if we’re to be honest.

General Motors has revealed the specs of the standard 4.3-liter V6 engine that will power the GMC Sierra / Chevrolet Silverado duo of full size pickup trucks, with the strongest selling point of the new unit being torque. GMC Tries to Lure Buyers for Outgoing 2013 Sierra with 2 Years' Free Maintenance

Free maintenance for a pre-defined time and miles (that is, before your vehicle really starts to need expensive services and repairs – ask any BMW owner about that) is a common amenity offered by premium carmakers in the U.S., as it is usually justified by the price of the car.

Lately, we've seen mainstream brands follow the same path, though, only for select models and for specific timeframes, like General Motors, which is now offering a free-maintenance promotion for buyers of the 2013 GMC Sierra 1500 pickup truck as it looks to clear its lots and prepare for the arrival of the redesigned 2014 model in early summer.

New Silverado and Sierra Pickups’ Success May Help the Government Offload GM Stake

President Barack Obama has always stood behind the 2009 bailouts of General Motors and Chrysler and he was vindicated as both companies made a surprising recovery in a very short time period.

While Chrysler is out of the picture, the U.S. government still holds a 32 percent stake in GM and is searching on how to implement an exit strategy without losing a large portion of the S$51 million it poured in the automaker during the bailout.

Analysts believe that the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra full-size pickups that were unveiled this week may provide the administration with the way out that it needs.

2014 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra Pickup Twins Unveiled [Photos & Videos]

Full-size pickup trucks are an important segment to General Motors. That’s why its 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra models that were revealed ahead of their world premiere at the Detroit Motor Show in January may look similar to the outgoing versions, but they are quite different, and much more technologically advanced, under the skin.

GM’s new full-size trucks underwent more than 6 million miles of durability testing at the Milford Proving Ground, over the deserts and mountains of Nevada and across the frozen flats of Ontario. That’s equivalent to 240 trips around the earth. In addition, the trucks will accumulate more than 7 million real-world miles during final testing, bringing total test miles to more than 13 million.

That’s because, as executive chief engineer for full- and mid-size trucks Jeff Luke said, “Don’t let the work boots fool you. Truck customers are among the most discerning and demanding in the business”.

Almost two-thirds of the cabin structure, the main rails and key cross members of the frame are made of high-strength steel in order to improve rigidity and keeping weight down, while new shear-style body mounts help absorb body movements for a more relaxed drive.

GMC to Celebrate Centennial with Heritage Edition Yukon and Sierra at the New York Auto Show

GMC was one of General Motors' four brands in the United States to live to tell another tale after the company's restructuring process in 2009, which brought the end of Pontiac, Hummer and Saturn.

One of the main reasons GMC remained alive is because for the past few years, it's GM's second bestselling brand in the States behind Chevrolet.

This year GMC celebrates its 100th birthday and to commemorate the event, the company will debut a new Heritage Edition for the 2012 Yukon, Yukon XL and Sierra at next week's New York International Auto Show.
