Audi has been a pioneer of sorts in the industry in recent years with the extensive use of aluminum for its cars, but with the new TT Ultra Quattro Concept, the brand with the four rings went one step further cutting a whopping 300 kilograms or a little over 660 pounds over the regular TT S Coupe, upon which it is based.

New Lightweight Audi TT Ultra Quattro Concept Announced for Wörthersee 2013

Audi will bring an ultra-light, high-performance TT Coupe study to this year’s GTI Wörthersee meet, held between May 8 and 11 in Reifnitz, Austria. According to Audi, the TT Ultra Quattro Concept combines minimal weight and maximum sportiness.

The specs seem to back this statement, as the TT Ultra Quattro Concept is powered by a 2.0 TFSI engine developing 310 horsepower and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque between 1,900 and 5,000 rpm. Not impressed? Well, the car weighs only 1,111 kg (2,449 lbs), meaning its power-to-weight ratio is a remarkable 3.6 kg/hp.

New Audi TT Coupé S Line Competition is All About the Looks

Audi is trying to lure customers into its showrooms with a new special edition version of the TT Coupe named S Line Competition.

The new trim model is available worldwide with all engine versions up to 208hp (211PS). Depending on the market, these include the 158hp (160PS) 1.8-liter TFSI, 208hp (211PS) 2.0-liter TFSI and the 168hp (170PS) 2.0-liter TDI diesel.

Watch an Audi TT RS Allegedly go from Zero to Over 330km/h – 205mph

The kingpin of the Audi TT family is the RS model powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-five engine, which is available in two states of tune from the factory, producing 335hp (340PS) and 450Nm (332 lb-ft) in the regular RS and 355hp (360PS) and 465Nm (342.97 lb-ft) in the RS Plus.

According to Audi, the standard TT RS Coupe hits 100km/h (62mph) after 4.6 seconds and reaches a limited top speed of 250km/h (155mph), while the TT RS Plus Coupe improves these figures to 4.1 seconds (DSG) and a restricted top speed of 280km/h (174mph).

Audi Releases UK Pricing for New TT RS Plus Coupe and Roadster Models

For those that find the regular TT RS models not fast enough, Audi has announced that the new and more powerful TT RS Plus editions of the Coupe and Roadster will go on sale in Britain in early May, with first delivers expected in the summer.

The Plus package represents a £3,085 premium over the standard RS with prices ranging from £48,945 for the manual Coupe to £52,265 for the dual-clutch transmission Roadster.
